CM Punk undergoes surgery to repair torn triceps suffered at AEW All Out

CM Punk underwent surgery earlier this week to repair a torn left triceps suffered during Sunday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.

Writing in today’s Daily Update, Dave Meltzer notes that Punk’s doctor recommended the surgery happen quickly to avoid muscle atrophy, and that the recovery time from the surgery is typically eight months.

Meltzer writes:

CM Punk underwent surgery earlier this week for the torn left triceps he suffered when doing the tope early in the Jon Moxley match. That is usually about an eight month recovery period His doctor recommended surgery right away to prevent any muscle atrophy.

Punk defeated Jon Moxley in the All Out main event to win the AEW World Championship, but was stripped of the title without being mentioned by name at the top of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite episode following a backstage incident involving Punk, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Ace Steel after Punk’s comments at the All Out media scrum following the show.

A tournament to crown a new AEW World Champion is underway, with the finals set to take place at Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21.

Punk also underwent surgery earlier this year to repair a broken foot suffered on the June 1 Dynamite. He returned to Dynamite on August 24.
