Claudio Castagnoli at peace if he never holds AEW World title

Holding the AEW World Championship is a goal for Claudio Castagnoli, but he’s not going to let that pursuit define him.
Castagnoli previously held the ROH World title twice but was never a World Champion in WWE and has yet to reach that height in AEW. In an interview with The Takedown, Castagnoli explained why he’s at peace with the possibility that he may never become AEW World Champion.
“Everybody should aspire to be the World Heavyweight Champion,” Castagnoli said. “I think I may have realized as I’m getting older, that that single-minded focus can actually be a big detriment to me. Not everybody is the main character. Not everybody can be the hero of the story. So to me, it is how can I make the most impact?”
Blackpool Combat Club (Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) are the current AEW Trios Champions despite the in-storyline tension that exists between Castagnoli and Yuta. Last month, Jon Moxley and Castagnoli betrayed Bryan Danielson without Yuta’s approval.
Moxley is set to challenge Danielson for the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream this Saturday. On Dynamite tonight (October 8), there will be a tag team match pitting Danielson & Yuta against Castagnoli & PAC.
