Christian Cage vs. Matt Hardy set for AEW Fyter Fest night one

Next week’s kickoff to two weeks of Fyter Fest editions of AEW Dynamite will feature Matt Hardy vs. Christian Cage.
The two longtime rivals from WWE will have their first official clash in their new home next Wednesday in Austin, Texas, following weeks of issues. This will be their first meeting in a singles match since an August 2010 SmackDown house show.
Hardy hasn’t been happy with Cage since he chose to not align with Hardy and Private Party in May’s Double or Nothing Casino Battle Royale. Cage instead chose to align with Jungle Boy to eliminate Private Party and Cage later eliminated Hardy for good measure. Since then, the two have been at odds with Hardy laying out Cage and Cage helping thwart some of the Hardy Family Office’s tactics of late.
Also announced for next week is Penelope Ford against the returning Yuka Sakazaki. She was in the Japanese bracket of this year’s Women’s title eliminator tournament, advancing to the finals. This will be her first U.S. action since February 2020 while Ford will be looking for her third straight win.
Hangman Page will also have something to say following his confrontation with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega on Wednesday’s show.
