Chris Jericho stepping down from AEW Rampage commentary

Chris Jericho is stepping down from his commentary position on AEW Rampage.

Jericho made the announcement in a backstage promo segment on Friday’s Rampage episode, noting that he was stepping away from commentary “…to spend more time on Dynamite and Collision, probably three or four or five segments a week, cuz you know I love having my face on TV,” Jericho said.

Jericho has been a fixture on Rampage commentary since the show’s debut in 2021. “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard has filled in on weeks where Jericho is not at the commentary desk, and Menard looks to be the permanent replacement for Jericho in the role.

As part of his new “Learning Tree” character, Jericho debuted a new talk show segment on this week’s Dynamite in a segment that involved Jericho’s new stable of Big Bill and Bryan Keith. The trio were confronted by Hook, but Hook stopped short of attacking as Samoa Joe appeared and talked Hook down, setting up a feud between the two sides.

Jericho defeated Hook and Katsuyori Shibata in a three-way to retain the FTW title at last Sunday’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
