Chris Jericho makes surprise appearance at pro wrestling event in Vietnam

AEW star Chris Jericho appeared in a very unexpected place on Saturday.

Jericho made a surprise appearance in Vietnam, showing up unadvertised at a show for Vietnam Pro Wrestling in Saigon. Jericho appeared in front of the crowd and cut a promo at the event.

This July, Jericho had Vietnam Pro Wrestling founder Rocky Huynh and English-language commentator Carey Wass as guests on his podcast.

The description for the episode can be seen below:

Rocky Huynh grew up loving pro wrestling, and that inspired him to start the first and only wrestling promotion in Vietnam – Vietnam Pro Wrestling. Rocky, and VPW English commentator, the Canadian-born Carey Wass, share the incredible and unlikely story of Vietnam Pro Wrestling from their early days wrestling on mats with no ring, to having veteran Japanese wrestler Fugo Fugo Yumeji come to Saigon to train them to putting on their first show and finally getting a real ring. They talk about the help they’ve received along the way from Pete [Dunne] (of NXT fame) and Viva Van (who’s appeared on AEW), and what they hope to achieve in the coming year. They also introduce their talented roster, and describe some of their flagship live shows.

A poster on Reddit who attended Saturday’s show noted that Vietnam Pro Wrestling is filming a documentary as a follow-up to the podcast.

Saturday’s event included Viva Van defending her PCW Ultra Women’s Championship against Sumie Sakai.

In AEW, Jericho & Kenny Omega are set for a future Tag Team title match against champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill. Jericho & Omega earned the title shot by defeating The Young Bucks at Full Gear last month. If Jericho & Omega had lost to The Young Bucks, they would have had to disband their team.
