Bryan Danielson expresses admiration for Jon Moxley: ‘There is no one like him’

Bryan Danielson feels a strong sense of admiration for his Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Jon Moxley.

In an interview published by Sports Illustrated on Friday, Danielson expressed that, while he’s proud of Moxley, the feeling he has for him is more like admiration. Danielson believes there is no one else like Moxley in pro wrestling.

“To me, he is among the very best in the world,” Danielson said. “I’m super proud of Mox. But it’s less pride I feel, and more admiration.”

In addition to being one of AEW’s top stars, Moxley currently holds the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for NJPW. He has a title defense scheduled against EVIL at NJPW Dominion this Sunday. It’s a lumberjack match with Shota Umino, Yuji Nagata, Togi Makabe, Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Tiger Mask serving as Moxley’s allies to combat House of Torture.

Danielson told Sports Illustrated that he’s hoping Moxley has a lengthy reign with the IWGP title. If Moxley retains against EVIL, he’ll enter AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door later this month as champion. Moxley wrestling for both promotions helped bring AEW and NJPW together for the strong working relationship that now exists between the companies.

“Mox did this, he created this,” Danielson told Sports Illustrated. “He has a mindset unlike anyone else. There will never be another Jon Moxley. There is no one like him.

“I admire what he’s been able to do. I admire the risks he’s taken and the performances he puts in every single time he goes out there.”

Blackpool Combat Club (Danielson, Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) teamed up together on Dynamite this past Wednesday, defeating CMLL’s Esfinge, Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.
