Anna Jay earns AEW Women’s Championship match at Battle of the Belts XII

Anna Jay is getting a title match.

Jay earned a shot at the AEW Women’s Championship after defeating Mariah May in the main event of Saturday’s Battle of the Belts XII. The finish of the match had May attempting to lay out Jay, with Jay reversing into a cradle to pick up the win.

After the match, it was announced that Jay would have her championship match in two weeks on the November 2 edition of Collision in Philadelphia, PA.

The feud between Jay and May started on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite. Jay confronted May, saying she wanted the opportunity to take on the champion. The two ended up getting into a confrontation, with Christopher Daniels arriving to break things up. Jay accidentally slapped Daniels in the process.

May most recently defeated Willow Nightingale to retain the Women’s Championship at WrestleDream. She’s been champion since All In, when she defeated Toni Storm for the title. Storm has vanished from the promotion since losing the title.
