Andrade El Idolo says his AEW contract expires soon

Andrade El Idolo says his AEW contract will expire soon.

Andrade appeared at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony over the weekend. However, he later clarified during an interview with Lucha Libre Online that he is still under contract with AEW and was only accompanying his wife to the event.

Andrade said:

“I’m with AEW, to make it clear. Soon my contract will expire. I had a tear in my chest and I got surgery in November. I was out for 4 months but soon I’ll be back. I was at the Hall of Fame accompanying my wife and to be next to a great friend Rey Mysterio…He’s the symbol for all the Latinos, Rey Mysterio,” transcriptions/translations via WrestlingNews.co

Andrade debuted for AEW on the June 4, 2021, edition of Dynamite. Later that year he would reportedly tell Milenio the deal was for three years.

Andrade hasn’t wrestled since the Casino Ladder Match at AEW All Out last September. He was involved in a backstage altercation a month later with Sammy Guevara and sent home

AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Andrade’s status with the company at the Full Gear post-event media scrum last November. Khan said that many wrestlers take sabbaticals from AEW only to come back and be more involved and that is a possibility for Andrade as well.
