AEW’s Adam Cole says he broke ankle in three places, needs surgery

Adam Cole says he’ll need surgery after breaking his ankle in three places last week.

On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Adam Cole came out with MJF for an in-ring promo. Cole, who was wearing a cast on his leg and was on crutches, revealed that when he hopped off the stage last week at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam he not only broke his ankle in three different places, but also tore ligaments and will need surgery as a result. He promised to come back as soon as he could.

Cole was about to say that the two were going to relinquish the ROH Tag Team titles when MJF cut him off, saying he knew Cole wouldn’t have gotten injured if it wasn’t for him, and didn’t want to end the title run this way. He instead proposed he defend the titles by himself in a handicap match at WrestleDream this Sunday.

The segment ended with Roderick Strong coming out and telling Cole he needed him now. Cole left with Strong and The Kingdom as Jay White arrived. White and MJF cut back and forth promos on one another before White eventually said he planned to take MJF’s AEW World Championship away from him.
