AEW wrestler Eddie Kingston stepping away from indies

AEW wrestler Eddie Kingston is making a change to his work schedule.

Now a champion in both ROH and NJPW, Kingston has decided to stop doing independent wrestling dates. Kingston noted that, when his responsibilities as an ROH and NJPW champion are over, he hopes to be able to do indie dates again.

Kingston apologized to fans but said he needs to focus and his body needs to be ready for AEW, ROH, and NJPW shows. He’s currently dealing with a lower back injury.

He wrote on Instagram:

Due to being NJPW Strong Openweight And ROH Champion I have to come to the hard decision that I will have to stop doing Independents. Dealing with a lower back injury right now that I need to get fixed (and will) so I can be ready for all NJPW strong shows and all three AEW shows. When my responsibilities as NJPW and ROH champion is over I will hopefully be able to do Independents again. I apologize to all but I just need to focus and my body needs to be ready for those shows.

Kingston won the ROH World Championship by defeating Claudio Castagnoli at Dynamite Grand Slam this past Wednesday. It was a title vs. title match where Kingston’s NJPW Strong Openweight Championship was also on the line.

Kingston defeated KENTA for the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship this July.
