AEW’s Tony Khan: Big and important announcement is like ‘The First Dance’

AEW head Tony Khan doubled down on his latest tease of a big announcement, saying Wednesday that it’s like The First Dance — the sold-out United Center show that saw the debut of CM Punk after nearly a decade away from wrestling.
“I promise you something big is coming. It’s not like ‘The First Dance’ where I can put a date, time and place on it and say I know exactly when. But it is like the ‘The First Dance’ that I know something big and important is coming to AEW and I am very excited about it,” he said.
Moments ahead of tonight’s LIVE #AEWDynamite @ 8pm ET/7pm CT on @TBSNetwork, #AEW GM @TonyKhan visited with @tonyschiavone24 to talk tonight’s huge card + a big business deal that he is aiming to close very soon! On last Friday’s Busted Open Radio, Khan said he was working on something “massive” that he hoped to have done by this week’s end. In the clip above, he said it is coming soon and will be “really great for fans and wrestlers.”
Like on Busted Open, he again said the announcement will be “very different than anything we’ve done before, but it’s going to be awesome.”
