Former AEW World Champion MJF has booked a role in Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore” sequel.

Deadline reported today that MJF has joined the cast of “Happy Gilmore 2,” the follow-up to Sandler’s 1996 comedy classic. The movie stars Sandler, Julie Bowen, and Christopher McDonald and is being filmed for Netflix.

“Details as to [MJF’s] role is under wraps, as is the sequel’s plot,” Deadline wrote. “Others on board include Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, who reprise their respective roles as Virginia Venit and Shooter McGavin, the love interest and pro golfer antagonist of Adam Sandler’s title character. Recently, Sandler has also teased that [NFL star] Travis Kelce is on board for a cameo, with production now underway and Bad Bunny has also joined the cast.”

PWInsider reports that MJF will be playing the character Gordie in the film, who is one of Happy Gilmore’s sons.

It had been known that MJF was away from AEW programing due to filming for a movie. He defeated Daniel Garcia at All Out on September 7 but was then laid out by a second rope piledriver from Garcia.

The 28-year-old MJF made his acting debut in “The Iron Claw,” briefly appearing as Lance Von Erich. Deadline notes that he also has roles in upcoming movies “The Floaters” and “Stranglehold.”
