AEW says Bryan Danielson needs surgery for broken orbital bone

Bryan Danielson is out for the rest of the year with a broken orbital bone.
Update —
Our own Bryan Alvarez posted to his subscribers on X regarding Danielson’s injury on Saturday night, writing, “I don’t have it 100% confirmed, but he was hurt for sure on Wednesday, he had a black eye, and he had an MRI scheduled for his orbital bone, so I’m pretty much certain their story is legit.”
Original story —
On Saturday’s Collision, Claudio Castagnoli revealed that Danielson had broken his orbital bone during a tag team match on Wednesday’s Dynamite. Tony Schiavone later noted that Danielson will need surgery and will be out for the rest of the year.

Wednesday’s Dynamite saw Danielson and Castagnoli team together to defeat Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada. Towards the end of the match, Danielson took both a orange punch and a rainmaker clothesline and ended up being tended to by medics outside of the apron. After Castagnoli pinned Cassidy, Okada mocked Danielson, who continued to recover on the apron as the show ended.
Danielson had been out of action this summer after suffering a broken arm during his match against Okada at Forbidden Door. He made his return at AEW All Out in September, defeating Ricky Starks.
Castagnoli will now face Orange Cassidy for the International title on next Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.
