AEW’s Samoa Joe could return soon as ‘Twisted Metal’ wraps filming

The surge in returning AEW stars will continue as filming for a show ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe has been working on has wrapped up.

In June, it was announced that Joe had signed on to play the dual role of Sweet Tooth in the Peacock live action adaptation of popular video game Twisted Metal. On Saturday, the show’s showrunner tweeted that filming had wrapped.

Joe has been on the sidelines due to a storyline shoulder injury suffered at the hands of Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt following July’s ROH Death Before Dishonor where Joe defeated Lethal in a title defense.

The 43-year-old signed with AEW and debuted this spring in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament after qualifying. He’s wrestled just seven times since then with nearly all of them coming in April and May due to the filming schedule.

Depending on when Joe returns, he joins a group that includes CM Punk, Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, Jeff Hardy and others that have missed considerable time this year for various reasons.
