AEW Revolution live results: Chris Jericho vs. Jon Moxley
AEW Revolution takes place tonight at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
The main event will see Chris Jericho defend the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley. Jericho is the only men’s world champion the company has ever seen, having claimed the title with a win over Hangman Page at All Out last August. He has since made successful title defenses against Darby Allin, Cody and Scorpio Sky. Moxley became the number one contender to Jericho’s title with a win over PAC last month.
MJF will face Cody in a grudge match. While cornering Cody, MJF threw in the towel as Cody challenged Jericho for the AEW title at Full Gear last November. Cody had to agree to a series of stipulations in order for MJF to accept this match, including receiving ten lashes with a belt on Dynamite earlier this month.
Kenny Omega and Hangman Page will defend the AEW World Tag Team titles against The Young Bucks. Page has been teasing turning on Omega for months, while taunting the Bucks for not yet capturing the tag titles.
Nyla Rose will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against number one contender Kris Statlander, PAC will face Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin will take on Sammy Guevara, and Dustin Rhodes vs. Jake Hager will round out the main card.
The pre-show will feature Dark Order’s Evil Uno and Stu Grayson vs. SoCal Uncensored’s Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky.

Tony Schiavone interviewed SCU. Christopher Daniels said the Dark Order has been spreading lies and tonight that ends. Scorpio Sky and Kazarian asked Daniels to stay backstage for the match, as they don’t trust him. Daniels reluctantly agreed.

Dark Order defeated SCU
Kazarian and Sky charged the ring and attacked Dark Order before the bell. Kazarian ran wild with kicks and springboard legdrops. Kazarian tried a dive, got caught, then cut off. Uno and Grayson got an assist from their masked followers on the outside.
Sky got a hot tag and hit a series of dropkicks. Kazarian tagged back in to hit Grayson with a DDT. Sky tagged back in and was cut off. Grayson and Uno hit some tandem offense, including an overhead throw on Sky into a seated Kazarian in the corner.
Sky hit a monkey flip on Kazarian, who then popped up into a double lariat. Kazarian got pulled outside. Sky used a cradle for a two count. Uno hit a lariat to the back of the head, then Grayson cradled Sky for the pin.
Dark Order continued to attack Sky and Kazarian after the bell. The debuting Colt Cabana ran in for the save. Cabana got cut off.
A hooded figure appeared on the stage. The figure unmasked, revealing Daniels. Daniels ran to the ring and attacked Dark Order. Cabana and SCU cleared the ring.

Lexy Nair interviewed Luchasaurus.
Luchasaurus said after 65 million years, not much excites him, but he’s excited for Revolution and happy to finally see some dinosaur representation on PPV. He said Jurassic Express will be watching the Cody vs. MJF match tonight to make sure Cody gets a fair shake.

Dezirae Shalice sang the national anthem to open the PPV portion of the broadcast. **1/4 anthem singing.
Jake Hager defeated Dustin Rhodes
Everything about this was bad. JR sounds less than 100 percent tonight, and that’s a kind way of putting it. The match was slow and not what you would expect from an AEW opener.
Hager made out with an unidentified woman at ringside. Presumably this was Swagger’s wife, but the commentary team never explicitly said so.
The match began with a crowd brawl. Jim Ross said that Danny Hodge was the best amateur wrestler turned pro ever. Kurt Angle says hi.
Hager hit a shoulder tackle on the floor to establish the advantage. Then it was time for a rest hold in the ring. Hager went back outside to get some instructions from the unidentified woman. Rhodes pushed Hager from behind, then forcibly kissed the woman. I know there was no bad intent from the person who came up with this spot, but you can’t do stuff like that in 2020.
Rhodes hit a couple of bulldogs and a powerslam, then got cut off again. Hager missed one Vader bomb, but hit it on his second try. Hager hit a gutwrench powerbomb for a near fall.
Rhodes sent Hager up and over the top rope. Hager hit the steps on landing. Rhodes hit a destroyer, then used a cross armbreaker. Hager rolled through into an ankle lock. Rhodes kicked Hager off. Hager nearly too kout ref Aubrey Edwards.
Edwards had her back turned, still recovering from the near-ref bump. Hager hit a low blow. Hager then used a sleeper. Rhodes passed out in the hold.

AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts was announced for March 25. Their version of War Games will take place.

Darby Allin defeated Sammy Guevara
This obviously should have been the opener.
Allin hit a tope suicida before the opening bell, then followed up with a woo dropkick into the barricade. Allin missed a charge into the barricade, then got whipped into the barricade.
This was pure chaos from here.
Guevara hit a 630 through a table. Allin draped Guevara over the barricade, then tried a tope from the ring, but crashed and burned. Guevara hit a double stomp to the apron.
Guevara hit a Spanish fly, which JR called a Grecco Roman throw. Guevara exposed a buckle, but got sent into it himself with a monkey flip.
Allin hit a stunner, then hit the Coffin Drop for the pin.
Allin teased hitting Guevara with his skateboard after the match, but Hager made the save for Guevara.
They’ve got something special in Allin. This was great.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page defeated The Young Bucks to retain the titles
I would like to wish everyone luck in following this. Great match. Tag match of the year.
The story here was that The Bucks became more and more heelish as the match went on.
This began as what Becky Lynch’s mom would call “nice wrestling,” but devolved once Hangman spit in Matt’s face. It was a brawl from there.
Hangman went to work on Matt’s lower back, which will never heal.
Hangman wanted to slam Matt through a table at ringside, but Omega talked him out of it. Matt tried and failed to land a double northern lights suplex, still selling the back.
Nick got a hot tag and hit his trademark hot tag spots, including the escalera into an armdrag, the high kick in the corner and a superkick on the apron.
Matt and Nick then went to work on Omega. Omega teased a terminator dive, but got nailed with a kick on the apron. Matt hit Omega with a piledriver.
Omega managed a tag to Page, who hit his trademark hot tag spots as well. Page knocked both Bucks off the apron, then hit a moonsault off the post to the floor.
Back inside, Page killed Nick with a lariat. Page threw Nick into the Bucks corner, demanding that he tag Matt. Page hit a rolling elbow and a German, then Omega blind-tagged in for a two count.
Nick got a second hot tag. He tried the escalera again, but Page shoved him to the ramp. Nick then hit a destroyer from the ramp to the ring for a two count.
The Bucks used tandem offense in hitting a pair of near falls. Nick hit a 450, then Matt covered for a two count. Then it was Page and Omega’s turn for tandem offense. Page hit a blockbuster superplex for a two count. on Nick. Omega hit a V-Trigger for a near fall.
Omega hit both Bucks with V-Triggers, then hit Nick with two snap dragons. He followed with a tiger driver for a near fall.
Omega teased a second rope One-Winged Angel for the second time this week. Nick reversed into a poison rana off the second rope. I don’t know how Omega didn’t break his neck.
Matt hit three northern lights suplexes on Page on the ramp. Matt and Nick hit Page with the Indytaker on the ramp, which the crowd hated. It didn’t look very good, but I’m really nitpicking.
The Bucks hit a double V-Trigger to Omega, who kicked out at one. A second double V-Trigger led to a two count. Matt tore the tape off Omega’s shoulder.
The Bucks teased a Meltzer Driver. Page recovered and powerbombed Nick through a table, which was not a DQ.
Page and Omega hit the Buckshot V-Trigger. Omega covered, Matt kicked out.
Omega teased a One-Winged Angel, but sold like his shoulder went out. Page tagged in and hit a One-Winged Angel on Matt, but Nick saved.
Page hit a Buckshot to Nick on the apron, then hit a Buckshot to Matt in the ring for the pin.

After the bell, The Bucks approached Omega for a handshake. Omega was reluctant, but eventually agreed. Page refused.
They did an AWESOME tease, where it looked as though Page was going to hit Omega with a Buckshot, but didn’t.

AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Nyla Rose defeated Kris Statlander to retain the title
They were in an impossible spot following the tag match, but they did pretty well. The crowd was quiet or at the concession stands for the first half of the match, but into it by the end.
There was an incredibly dangerous spot late in the match where they botched a superplex. Statlander could have broken her leg. Rose could have broken her neck. Maybe we need to tone down the degree of difficulty with the less experienced wrestlers on the roster.
They started slowly, trading holds. Statlander hit a senton, then used a standing moonsault for a two count. The turning point came with Statlander missing a tope through the ropes to the ramp.
Rose took over after the missed dive, hitting a spear, then slamming Statlander into the buckle. Statlander hit a superkick. They traded strikes from their knees. Statlander sent Rose outside, then hit her with a pair of topes.
JR climbed on his soapbox and went off on Statlander for hitting dives, his usual wet blanket stuff.
Back inside, they traded lariats. Rose draped Statlander over the top rope, teasing a missile dropkick. Statlander did a handstand walk out of that position, then blew Rose a kiss.
Statlander booped Rose, then hit a DDT for a two count. Statlander tried a Big Bang Theory. Rose blocked, then locked in an STF. Rose gave up the hold and tried a splash, but Statlander got her knees up.
Statlander hit a one-legged dropkick. Rose hit a Beast Bomb for a two count.
Rose climbed to the top rope. Statlander tried a superplex but could never quite get her feet under her. I don’t know how she didn’t break her leg on this spot. She ended up hitting something resembling a brainbuster. That was incredibly dangerous for both of these women.
Rose again went up top. Statlander tried a frankensteiner. Rose blocked, then hit a top rope Beast Bomb for the pin.
MJF defeated Cody
They sort of just had a wrestling match for fifteen minutes before the grudge match-type brawl that I was expecting broke out. I thought this was a rare misfire from a Cody match in that regard. The last half or so was good.
Cody has a new neck tattoo. His body, his choice. He was accompanied to the ring by Arn Anderson, Dustin, Stephen Amell and Brandi.
Cody missed on a couple of wild right hands. MJF rolled outside and stalled. MJF went into the crowd to stall, then threw a beer on a fan.
Cody hit an uppercut and a Cody Cutter. He ran to the stage, then ran all the way back to the ring hitting a clothesline. Cody covered, but pulled MJF at a one count to deliver more damage.
The announcers made mention that Cody broke his toe in the cage match last week, and Cody would periodically check the toe.
Wardlow pulled MJF outside. Brandi threw a bottle of water on Wardlow. Cody hit a dive, taking out Wardlow. Climbing back inside, MJF snapped Cody’s arm over the top rope and went to work on him.
MJF used a fujiwara armbar, which he’s calling Salt of the Earth. This would have been more plausible as a near-finish had he used it more than once on TV building to this show. Cody bit the bottom rope, forcing a break.
MJF ripped off one of Cody’s boots and bit the broken toe. Cody hit a back suplex off the top rope. MJF rolled to the apron. Cody sent him to the floor with a Disaster Kick. Cody teased a dive, but Wardlow stepped in the way. Arn Anderson grabbed a chair and scared Wardlow off.
MJF bladed while on the floor. Cody went outside after him. Back inside, Cody punched the cut. Cody hit a powerslam for a two count.
Cody teased a draping DDT. MJF reversed into a heat seeker. MJF covered, Wardlow put his feet on the ropes. Brandi tried a crossbody off the apron to Wardlow. Wardlow caught her. Arn went after Wardlow. Cody tried to kick Wardlow and hit Arn by mistake. Arn took a bump on the floor.
Back in the ring, MJF hit a low blow for a two count. They did a bonkers double suplex out of the ring to the floor. Both made it back in after a countout tease.
They traded strikes. Cody fired up and was ready to flip, flop and fly, but MJF dropped down to avoid the bionic elbow. MJF hit a Double Cross for a two count.
MJF removed Cody’s weight belt. The ref took it away from him. Why? Cody uses it every week.
Cody hit a low blow and used a backslide driver for a two count. Cody used the weight belt as a weapon.
MJF hugged Cody, then spit in his face. Cody hit Cross Rhodes twice. He went for a third, but MJF blocked, pulled the Dynamite diamond ring out of his trunks, hit a right hand, and got the pin.
PAC defeated Orange Cassidy
The crowd was molten for this.
They traded Orange Cassidy weak kicks. PAC then hit a hard shove. Cassidy did some spots with his hands in his pockets, including a dropkick and a kip up, which got a standing ovation. PAC hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, then went to work.
It’s worth noting here that JR was at his worst in this match. He sounded quite hydrated.
Cassidy made a comeback with a tope suicida, a high cross off the top, then a tornado DDT. Cassidy smiled, as he was actually trying.
PAC kicked out at one. PAC hit a series of strikes. He teased a Michinoku driver off the top, but Cassidy blocked, then hit a DDT off the top rope. PAC tried to leave the ring, Trent threw him back in.
Cassidy hit an air raid crash for a near fall. The Lucha Brothers ran in and brawled to the back with Best Friends. PAC used the Brutalizer for the submission.
This was great and got the crowd primed for the main event.
AEW World Championship match: Jon Moxley defeated Chris Jericho to win the title
The crowd was tired and kind of deflated after so many heel wins on this show. They had a wild brawl with blood and the crowd wasn’t into it until Moxley hit the first double-arm DDT before the finish.
Meredith Bell, who had a viral video a few weeks ago singing Jericho’s entrance theme, Judas, led a gospel choir in singing it here tonight. It was awesome.
They started with some crowd brawling. Moxley bit at Jericho’s forehead stitches. Jericho posted Moxley, who bled from behind the eye patch. Jericho hit a powerbomb on a ringside table.
Jericho continued to attack, working on Moxley’s eye patch. Jericho rang the bell and announced himself the winner, then continued to attack.
Jericho took the referee, and Santana and Ortiz went after Moxley on the floor. Jericho whipped Moxley into the steps. Moxley fought off a superplex and hit a clothesline off the top rope.
Moxley blocked a Liontamer and used a heel hook, but Jericho forced a rope break. Moxley hit a Regal knee strike for a two count.
Santana and Ortiz jumped on the apron. Moxley took out Santana, but fell victim to a mad ball strike from Ortiz. Jericho covered for a two count. The people didn’t buy this as a finish.
Moxley blocked a codebreaker and used a Walls of Jericho. Hager ran in for a distraction. Jericho hit a codebreaker for a two count.
Jericho put Moxley in the Walls. They were going to sit in that damn hold until the people bought it as a near submission. Moxley reached the ropes.
Hager hit a right hand and ref Aubrey Edwards ejected Santana, Ortiz and Hager. Sammy Guevara ran in and hit Moxley with a belt shot, then ran off. Jericho covered for a two count.
Jericho gouged Moxley’s good eye, then kicked at the eye. Moxley ducked the Judas Effect, then hit the double-arm DDT.
Moxley took off the eye patch, revealing that he can see. Moxley then hit the Paradigm Shift for the pin, winning the title.
Moxley celebrated with the title, then put on a new t-shirt with the title belt on the front.
Moxley cut a promo. He said he loves this shit. He said it’s been a long year. He said AEW promised to bring back pro wrestling and they have. He thanked the fans that have been with him from the start. He said it was beer o’clock.
They started to play his music, but Moxley said he wasn’t done yet. He promised not to hide behind the belt, but right now it’s time for some whiskey.
