AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Ian Riccaboni & Taz before throwing it to Tony Schiavone, who is in the ring to introduce the men’s finalist in the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Finals. Excalibur quickly mentions you can watch Double or Nothing on Prime (as this apparently won’t be airing on Triller for folks in the US, Canada or Puerto Rico). Hangman Adam Page is out first & Will Ospreay is soon after, both getting loud ovations.

Will Ospreay & Hangman Adam Page Face-to-Face

Schiavone said both know what’s at stake this Sunday in Texas and tells them the ring is there’s. Ospreay said he understands why security are surrounding ringside, but said he won’t get physical (Page agrees) and Ospreay dismisses them all, saying he’ll make sure they get paid. Ospreay has one question for Page, does he still drink? He has two beers handed to him as a peace offering from last week, where they seemed to be on the brink of fighting. Ospreay hands one to Page and tries to cheers, but Page doesn’t budge. They both put down their drinks, as Ospreay said he’s out here to petition to Tony Khan and the Board of Directors that this Sunday, they will be the main event. A lot of people might think he’s mad for wanting that, having to follow Anarchy in the Arena and a 3-hour night of top-level wrestling, but they all don’t realize what’s at stake. The winner of this match will have the responsibility of bringing back the beautiful gold belt. Ospreay wants this so bad, as the moment he stepped into AEW, he did it the right way, traveling to and from England, as he’s constantly jetlagged, but he shows up and says ring the bell. Ospreay wants to wear that belt with pride, most importantly, to bring it home at Forbidden Door in London. People have supported him since he was a young, immature kid, so he wants to wear the title to thank them for their support. Every Tuesday, Ospreay leaves his 6-year-old at home and he wants nothing more than to walk into that building and for him to see Ospreay as World Heavyweight Champion. Ospreay realizes how much Page wants it, it’s just Ospreay wants it a little bit more.

Page said that’s the difference between them, like it will be Sunday, Ospreay wants it, he realizes there’s no greater prize than to be All Elite Wrestling World Champion. For Ospreay, this could be a professional accomplishment, but for Page, it’s personal, he doesn’t want this opportunity, he needs it. Page screams that he’s wasted two years of his life filled with grief, sorrow and hate, not winning a single tournament or championship, but the one thing he won, brought he nothing but the same. Christmas morning, when his son sat on the floor playing with toys, looking up at his dad staring out the window looking for someone he knew would never come back. When Page goes home, he needs his wife not to see him and take pity, but see the man she fell in love with. Page wants this for the fans who believed in him when he deserved it the least. Finally, Page needs this for himself, a light at the end of the two-year tunnel from hell. He needs this after Ospreay told him it was too little, too late.

Ospreay asks what Page plans on doing about it, wrap a chair around his skull, beat his head in so badly he’ll have to retire like Christopher Daniels? Ospreay has been there, but he refuses to go back, come Sunday, he’s showing up and doing his best. Sometimes his best isn’t good enough, he can admit it, but he lost not by pulling the ref out of the ring or whining in the back that he didn’t get his way. If Ospreay lost, he did so by maintaining the fans respect. Ospreay said he won their trust, as Page screams if that would be enough to defeat Jon Moxley and the Death Riders, as Ospreay yelled back he doesn’t know, but Page does, so show him on Sunday. If Ospreay can beat Page, he knows he can beat Moxley and bring the title back. Page used to be a good-hearted dude, but he’s a cowboy, someone they should look for when times got tough, but his attention has been so turned on Swerve Strickland. An entire year has changed Page, as Ospreay said kids don’t look up to him anymore, while the boys in the back have lost respect for him. A woman in the crowd screamed when Page almost ended Strickland’s career. Ospreay said before Page writes him off, he’s beaten MJF, Bryan Danielson, Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada & Chris Jericho, he’s proved them all wrong and he’s the best in the F’N world.

Ospreay said despite all this, he has Page’s back and hopes Page can say the same. Ospreay picked up the beer and said for Page to meet him in the desert for a shootout on Sunday. Ospreay took a swig of the beer and tossed it aside, as Page chugged his entire drink, as this incredible face-off concludes. This was one of the best back-and-forth’s to lead to a PPV main event, which we’re told Tony Khan has made official for Double or Nothing. Ospreay & Page both walked side by side up the aisle, as the shot of the Owen Hart Cup separated them. A fantastic segment, one you should go out of your way to check out.

-Jon Moxley is pacing outside of the arena with Marina Shafir, as they make their way into the backstage area. Moxley said tensions are rising in AEW, as the spoils will go to those who embrace the anarchy as he makes his way to the ring for the opening contest.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana), Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Jon Moxley (w/Marina Shafir) & The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson)

(The exact party match you’d expect from these six, as everyone got a chance to shine with this going two breaks. The finish was a fitting sort of revenge for Strickland, getting his win back against Matthew Jackson from a few weeks ago. At this very moment, we still don’t know who is involved in the Anarchy in the Arena match, something we’ll hopefully find out by the end of the evening.)

Bell sounds and Joe & Moxley immediately swing for the fences, as they both stumble into their respective corners, with Hobbs & Swerve and The Bucks holding both men back. Matthew & Hobbs tag in, as the power game of Hobbs initially got the best of Matthew, who avoided a powerslam, tagged Nicholas and The Bucks hit a pop-up dropkick. Strickland tagged in and quickly dodged a superkick into a backbreaker and rolling suplex. Strickland & Joe casually side-step The Bucks double dives outside, as Hobbs had his eyes raked by Moxley on the apron, leading to a Moxley successful dive. With only Joe remaining, he teased a dive, but The Bucks cut him off with a pair of superkicks. Strickland flew back in with a rolling Flatliner on Nicholas, followed by a Fosbury Flop. Joe got the head of steam and hit a Tope Suicida onto Moxley & The Bucks as things went to commercial.

Before commercial, a lower graphic showed, as Excalibur ran down all the ways you can watch Double or Nothing.

  • In the US: Prime Video, YouTube, PPV.com. Fubo, Cable & Satellite and select Dave & Busters
  • Canada: Prime Video
  • UK: Prime Video
  • International: YouTube, PPV.com, TrillerPPV

Hobbs was isolated during commercial and Nicholas foolishly started paint brushing him in the head, leading to a World Strongest Slam from Hobbs and tag to Strickland, who cleaned house. Nicholas tried a springboard hurricanrana, but Strickland caught him into a nice powerslam. Nicholas backflipped off the apron to the floor, but Strickland cleared the top rope, only to eat a Matthew superkick. Moxley attacked, as back inside, The Bucks hit an assisted Sliced Bread for two. Strickland got his knees up to avoid a swanton by Nicholas, but Moxley wiped out Hobbs & Joe before Strickland could make the tag. Triple team collision in the corner from The Bucks & Moxley, who connected on a brainbuster, as Matthew leapt to the floor onto Hobbs & Joe. Risky Business connects back inside on Strickland, who kicked out, surprising Moxley. Strickland remained isolated as things went to a second commercial.

During break, Strickland remained isolated, even Shafir got in some cheap shots, until Strickland threw a desperation headbutt to create distance from Moxley. Joe in for the hot tag and rag dolls the hell out of The Bucks, nearly getting a pin on Matthew after a snap powerslam. For some reason, Strickland tagged right back in to go after Matthew, as Hobbs flew off the top with a Frog Splash, as Strickland made the cover for two. Nicholas saves his brother from a brainbuster, Superkick Party to Strickland, double DDT on Hobbs, Joe ate superkicks, but ran through The Bucks with a double clothesline. Moxley in to spike Joe with a Paradigm Shift, as Strickland flew in with a House Call before jumping off the apron with a double Swerve Stomp onto The Bucks outside.

Strickland pulled Matthew back inside, tagging Hobbs, who lowered the straps. Hobbs spun out of Paradigm Shift, planting everyone with huge Spinebusters. Strickland made the tag, but Moxley sent Hobbs crashing into him in the corner. Cutter connects by Moxley, who was sent outside by Joe, who turned into a Superkick Party. The Bucks missed an EVP Trigger on Strickland, as Joe sank the Coquina Clutch in on Nicholas, as Strickland rolled up Matthew to get the flash pin.

Post-match, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta hit the ring and attack before Katsuyori Shibata made the save, beating the hell out of Yuta & Castagnoli. Shafir in to cut Shibata off with a low-blow, as Willow Nightingale sprinted to the ring and hit a huge Pounce. Both ladies brawl around ringside until Kenny Omega’s music plays and he rushes the ring dishing out Snap Dragons to all in his way. A huge V-Trigger hits Matthew, Strickland & Joe set up a table ringside, as Omega brought Matthew to the edge of the apron, wanting One Winged Angel, but Castagnoli pulled Matthew to safety, as The Bucks & Death Riders retreat through the crowd. Joe said a sane man would wait until Sunday, but they’re not waiting until then, they’re coming after their asses again, tonight.

Match Result: Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jon Moxley & The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) when Strickland pinned Matthew

-Alicia Atout is backstage with The Hurt Syndicate and their legal counsel, as MJF struts in with a brand-new suit and Mark Sterling by his side. MVP tells him to let out a Wooo, as MVP said they have to get some food and tells his counsel to take care of MJF, who fist bumps MVP, Lashley & Benjamin before telling Atout to get lost. MJF calls Sterling a brilliant bastard and shakes the legal counsel’s hand before asking Sterling for hand sanitizer.

MJF Signs His Contract to Join The Hurt Syndicate

The Hurt Syndicate make their way to the ring, as their legal counsel, as well as Mark Sterling, are already in the ring. MVP said tonight, MJF signs his contract to become a member of the crew, as the fans boo, so MVP said it’s just because they know MJF is better than them and they know it. Ian Riccaboni questions what is in all this for The Hurt Syndicate, while MJF gets everything from this deal. MJF strutted out, ripped up a fans sign and said his mother once told him the most important day of his life would be getting married to the love of your life. MJF said clearly that dumb b*tch never joined The Hurt Syndicate. The fans boo MJF, as MVP told them no one wants to be there, as he gets paid to be there while the fans paid to be there, so shut your mouths. MJF & MVP kept running down Albuquerque for not having sports teams as MJF told Sterling to explain all the fine print. Sterling said MJF will sign first and then The Hurt Syndicate. MJF signs, followed by MVP & Shelton Benjamin, as Lashley takes the pen and debates whether to sign. MVP continuously screams at the crowd to shut up, as Lashley signs, the counsel places the contract in the briefcase and shakes hand with Sterling, when MJF puts a Hurt Syndicate hat on and says this is the greatest day of his life, only to be cut off by The Sons of Texas.

Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara walks out as MJF demands their music cut and calls them white trash Southern honkys. Rhodes tells MJF to shut his mouth, he doesn’t have work ethic or grit and he hates his guts. Rhodes said he has the utmost respect for MVP, but thinks in his best interest to watch for that snake in the grass. Rhodes & Guevara are Day One guys, as 6 years ago, they did something special, they changed the landscape. Fast forward to this Sunday, they want more gold, they’re the undefeated ROH Tag Team Champions and tells Benjamin & Lashley to look at him in the eyes and says if they like hurting people, jump on him and try hurting him. MVP said be careful what they wish for, as Rhodes said he & Guevara have looked the Devil in the eye and lived to tell the tale. Don’t expect this to be a walk in the park because it won’t be, they fight with soul, passion and heart, you can’t touch their work ethic. If Rhodes was a betting man, he’d bet on the Sons of Texas.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Kazuchika Okada, asking if he has a response to Speedball Mike Bailey and his challenge for the Continental Championship. Okada said Bailey doesn’t call him out, he’ll call him out and issues the challenge for Double or Nothing. Paquette brings up Bailey never being actually pinned since debuting in AEW and Okada said there’s a first time for everything, trust me. Okada left, faked like he was going to say B*tch, but again said trust me.

Ricochet vs. Anthony Bowens (w/Billy Gunn)

(Prior to the match, Excalibur mentioned Bowens being on quite the hot streak on Collision since his return. Bowens is 2-0, having beaten Lee Johnson & Blake Christian, so I guess that’s a streak. This was a solid TV match, one that you knew Ricochet was going to have to win somehow with his PPV match coming up Sunday, I’m just surprised Bowens was the one to get pinned, even if it was via shenanigans.)

We’re told this match came about after a run-in backstage earlier in the day about who is the true scissor king, which is a pretty unique way to set-up a match I must say. Ricochet tried to mock Gunn with a crotch chop, but Bowens cut him off with a float over DDT. Clothesline sent Ricochet to the floor, where Gunn laughed at him for being bald. Ricochet cowered, as Bowens slapped him in the head, drove Ricochet into the barricade before scissoring with Gunn. Bowens tried a suplex back inside, but Ricochet reversed and brought Bowens to the apron. While holding onto referee Paul Turner’s shirt, Ricochet managed to post Bowens, sweep out the legs and slam Bowens onto the apron into commercial.

Bowens battled back when things returned with an up and over Fame Asser followed by a spinning reverse Torture Rack slam for two. Ricochet answered with a wall walk, but missed a strike, allowing Bowens to hit a combo ending with a superkick. Ricochet floated over, hit a pump knee, loaded up The Spriit Gun, but Bowens dodged into The Arrival. Bowens cracked Ricochet with a Mollywhop, but Ricochet rolled outside. Gunn went to go grab Ricochet when Paul Turner cut him off. The distraction allowed Ricochet to grab his gold scissors under a turnbuckle pad, stabbed Bowens in the forehead and hit The Spirit Gun to steal the pin.

Post-match, Ricochet ran down the crowd on the aisle, telling them they all suck, not realizing Mark Briscoe was standing behind him with a stretcher. Briscoe fired off punches and loaded Ricochet on the stretcher, going up top, wanted a Froggy Bow, but Ricochet bailed, crawling to the back.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Anthony Bowens via Spirit Gun

-We’re told Anarchy in the Arena is official and will be Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata vs. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir & The Young Bucks.

Also we learn Mercedes Mone will be facing CMLL’s Reyna Isis in a TBS Title Open Challenge on Collision tomorrow night. Excalibur said this could be a trap match for Mone.

**********

-Stokely Hathaway is backstage with FTR saying they could sign their contract for Double or Nothing right now or they could do something special, as they want to look Daniel Garcia & Nigel McGuinness in the eye before signing. Hathaway said they could even bringing along that b*tch ass Daddy Magic to see McGuinness sign the contract for the last match of his career on Collision.

Mercedes Mone & Jamie Hayter Face-to-Face

Three chairs are set-up with Renee Paquette in the ring and said it’s time to hear from the ladies in the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament, saying both want to beat the crap out of one another, so she hopes to keep things calm. Jamie Hayter is out first to a good reaction, as Mercedes Mone is out to brief CEO chants. Paquette said Hayter has done something Mone has not been able to do in her time in AEW, that’s holding the AEW Women’s Title. Paquette brings up Hayter’s injury history and asks if she views herself as the underdog on Sunday? Hayter said if she’s the underdog, so be it, she’ll keep crawling back time after time again, not having others do her dirty work and act like she’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. Hayter said she’s a fighter, everyone watching has made her into just that. This means more to Hayter than it does Mone, they all know it, as this is more than a title shot, it’s about not being forgotten. When the bell rings, the confetti falls, the cup lifted, if it’s not Hayter doing it, she’ll question what’s the point going forward?

Paquette asks Mone if she’s worried Hayter will be the first woman to defeat her in singles action in AEW? Mone calls herself a revolution, the Beyonce of women’s wrestling, looking straight through Hayter like the glass doll that she is. Mone always gets what she wants and what she wants is going to All In Texas to become the AEW Women’s Champion. 25-0 in singles competition, 360 days as the greatest TBS Champion of all time, getting this not by luck, but dedication and hard work. Mone said this is about her legacy, as Double or Nothing won’t be when Hayter’s story begins, but her chapter ends.

Hayter mentions Mone looking a little lighter tonight, bringing up her losing the New Japan Strong Women’s Title. Hayter watched Mone losing, which is her destiny, losing everything. Mone exploded out of her chair and absolutely waffled Hayter, who blocked a left hand and folded Mone up with a Hayter-ade.

Timeless Toni Storm’s music hits and she prances down the aisle with Luther, as she’ll be on the call for the main event coming up next. Storm high fived fans, never really making eye contact with Hayter, as things went to commercial.

**********

Back from break, Storm has riled up the entire crowd before the entrances for the main event.

Mina Shirakawa vs. Julia Hart

(While the match itself was a nice back and forth, with Hart getting a good amount of offense, the post-match brawl was a nice way to make Shirakawa look strong heading into the PPV match. Storm had her usual zingers on commentary, but like times in the past, it wasn’t so much that it didn’t overshadow the action in the ring. Her calling Ian Riccaboni a handsome young man after realizing he wasn’t Tony Schiavone was hilarious.)

Storm said despite last week’s loss to Shirakawa, she still has the biggest package, saying she’ll smack the mask off Excalibur if he brings it up again. The match opens with a series of reversals until Hart works over the left arm, doing the Undertaker rope walk and clubbing blow. Hart went for a sliding strike, but Shirakawa dodged and did her dance. Shirakawa scaled to the top rope, did a hip shake and came crashing down onto Hart with a knee. Snap dropkick to the knee, as she tripped up Hart before turning her attention Storm outside. Hart was there to crack Shirakawa with a right hand and control the action back in the ring during commercial.

Shirakawa mounted her comeback when things returned, firing a rolling elbow and flying clothesline. Hart stumbled to the corner, tried a boot, but Shirakawa blocked into a Dragon Screw. Storm said that wouldn’t work with her, as you’d need a crowbar to get between her thighs. Hart fought back with a Tarantula in the ropes, but as she broke the submission, Shirakawa fired off a spinning back fist. Shirakawa looked for a crucifix bomb out of the corner, didn’t get much of it and almost looked like a Blockbuster for two. Hart heel tripped her way to avoid a Glamourous Driver, as Hart wanted her Moonsault, Shirakawa moved and Hart came up limping. Shirakawa chop blocked the leg, tried a Figure Four, but Hart got an inside cradle for two. Shirakawa up first, hit another rolling elbow, wanted Glamourous Driver Mina, but again Hart got a cradle for two. Shirakawa managed a seatbelt cradle and got the flash pin.

Post-match, Shirakawa signaled to Storm for her title, when Hart attacked from behind. Shirakawa fought back and applied the Figure Four until Skye Blue hit the ring to save Hart. Blue beat down Shirakawa until Storm left commentary and dropped Blue with a snap German. Hart ate backfists from Storm & Shirakawa, who grabbed the women’s title and held it up before both had a tug of war over it. Storm tried a boot, but Shirakawa hit a Dragon Screw. Shirakawa followed with a Figure Four around the ring post, as Storm screamed in pain before being pulled off by referees. Shirakawa made her way to the back high fiving fans, as Luther carried Storm.

Match Result: Mina Shirakawa defeated Julia Hart

-Renee Paquette tries to reach The Young Bucks backstage for comment, but they bail for a flight to catch, as Matthew said Samoa Joe was a pathological liar who said they’d attack them before the night is over, but, they’re out of here. Right on cue, The Opps show up with trash cans to take out The Bucks, as it’s everyone involved in Anarchy in the Arena appearing one after another with weapons as everyone brawls on the stage out into the ringside area. Omega was choking out Nicholas Jackson with a chain, as Shibata teed off on Yuta, who had a trash can trapped over his head. The Bucks regained control over Omega and hit an EVP Trigger, while on the outside, Hobbs no sold a Castagnoli chair shot. Omega avoided a Meltzer Driver back inside, leaving Omega & Strickland in the ring with The Bucks, hitting dueling House Calls & V-Triggers. Mox & Shafir are choking out Joe & Strickland respectively, but the tables get turned, Joe was choking out Moxley until the mercenary Gabe Kidd hit Joe from behind with the briefcase. Kidd attacked Omega & Strickland in the ring, as The Bucks & Yuta set them up on tables ringside and hit stereo elbow/splashes. Yuta chokes out Prince Nana with a kendo stick, as Death Riders & The Young Bucks stand tall end the show.
