AEW Dynamite live results: All Star eight-man tag

The final episode of AEW Dynamite before Saturday’s All In airs live tonight, headlined by an All Star eight-man tag.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley teams with Claudio Castagnoli, and Matthew and Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks against Hangman Adam Page, Will Ospreay, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata in a preview of Saturday’s All In pay-per-view. Moxley will defend his title against Page in the headline bout on Saturday.

Ahead of their Women’s World Championship match at All In, champ Toni Storm and challenger Mercedes Mone will have their final face-to-face segment on tonight’s show.

The number two entrant in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In will be decided in a four-way match tonight, with Thekla vs. Tay Melo vs. Queen Aminata vs. Megan Bayne. Kris Statlander holds the number one spot in the Gauntlet for a future World title shot.

Men’s Casino Gauntlet competitors MJF and Mark Briscoe will have a “talky-talk” face-to-face on tonight’s episode.

Samoa Joe vs. Wheeler Yuta is also scheduled for the show.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Taz & Tony Schiavone, talking about the main event for All In this Saturday, as Hangman Adam Page & Jon Moxley will be on opposing sides of the All Star 8-Man tag later tonight. Also brings up the AEW Women’s Title picture and the face-off to kick off the show.

Timeless Toni Storm & Mercedes Mone’s Final Face-to-Face

Mone was out first rocking a cowboy hat and saying her signature opening line before asking Storm to come to the ring. Storm was on the big screen and said only two things come from Texas and she’s at least one of them. Mone is sick of the silly games, but she’s the master, so stop hiding, come out and meet her face-to-face, you mark. Storm said who said she was hiding and hit her music. Storm power walks to the ring with Luther by her side. Mone said how about they have a toast, as Luther handed both glasses of champagne and Mone said cheers to herself, the future seven belt Mone. She was insulted that the champagne tasted frozen at some point. Storm said save the performative bullsh*t for her entrance, as week after week, Mone has treated her poorly. Speaking in catchphrases, she has the authenticity of a spray tan in a rain storm, the emotional depth of a kiddy pool. Storm called Mone a fraud, while the AEW Women’s Title has helped her find herself and questions what the hell Mone is so afraid of?

Mone said they’ve walked similar paths, but they are nothing alike, as she’ll always be better than Storm, especially in class. Mone isn’t afraid to leave it all on the table, being through hell and back, making the devil her b*tch. She loves that the fans hate her and no one will derail the Mone Train, especially Storm. This is her legacy, the one-woman revolution, the alpha & omega and everything in between.

Storm said legacies don’t exist, one day, we’ll all turn to dust and die. All that matters is one moment, when you step into the ring, look her in the eye and realize that she fears an ordinary life, but Storm fears and ordinary death. Storm sincerely believes Mone deserves all the titles in the World, but not hers. Mone will go down as the woman who just couldn’t win the big one. Mone said she hoped this would’ve been civil, she was wrong, messed up initially saying the PPV is Sunday, but quickly corrected (fans didn’t let her forget it though). They both finished their champagne, as Storm capped it off saying “Eat Sh*t, B*tch” and nearly dropped Mone with a Mone Maker, but Mone quickly scurried away with Storm dancing in the ring with Mone’s cowboy hat on, holding her AEW Women’s Title high in the air before writhing around the ring.

-Jon Moxley is backstage and said he knows what Hangman Page is thinking, they’ve been in a Texas Death Match before, but that was a long time ago. Moxley has been beaten, outsmarted, out-muscled before, but never lost a war of attrition, which is exactly what Saturday will be. If Page thinks he can survive longer than Moxley, can he hold the line under pressure of attack and expectations of everyone who is counting on him? Moxley thinks Page is a victim, waste, pathetic, as he has one chance to prove him wrong. Page better be willing to walk the aisle like it’s his last time ever, as whether Page likes it or not, he’ll be All In.

-The Young Bucks limousine they purchased last week pulls up to the arena, as Excalibur said it looks awful, which even Taz has to reluctantly agree with, as Matthew & Nicholas step out and give a salute before heading in for work, very late, as commentary pointed out.

Proto-shita (Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita w/Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. ROH Champion Bandido & Brody King

(Very good tag match, as it was a preview for the presumed main event of Supercard of Honor this Friday, as Takeshita has the all-important momentum on his side heading into his battle with Bandido. Excalibur mentioned that while Fletcher has the TNT Title in his sights at All In, King, Takeshita & Bandido are expected to hopefully be in the Casino Gauntlet. I liked he added the term hopefully, as to sell that it could end at any time.)

Callis joined commentary and said he’s only talking to Taz, the only one at the table who has drawn money. King & Takeshita collide like bulls right as the bell sounded, until Takeshita went for the eyes and tagged Fletcher, who was quickly mowed down and chopped in the corner by King. Head of steam, Bandido tagged in for a sliding dropkick and King followed with a senton. Bandido wanted Takeshita in ahead of their ROH Title match this Friday at Supercard of Honor and Takeshita obliges and we get a forearm exchange. Bandido kipped up out of a shoulder tackle, as they trade tilt-a-whirl attempts until Takeshita ran through Bandido with a clothesline. Low bridge sent King to the outside, where Fletcher met him with a dive, Bandido followed, Takeshita as well and finally King hit a huge dive to complete the cycle. Back inside, Takeshita got his knees up on an assisted splash, as a double high boot sent King crashing outside, as Bandido ate a double snap dropkick into commercial.

Bandido was worked over most of the break, but when things returned, a misdirect pop-up DDT absolutely spiked Fletcher to a huge pop. King made the hot tag, flattened Fletcher with a Black Hole Slam and corner cannonball to follow for two. Fletcher managed to battle back with a desperation Michinoku Driver into the double down, allowing Bandido to tag in and hit a snap hurricanrana on Takeshita for two. Fletcher held Bandido in the corner for Takeshita to hit a Helluva Kick, as Fletcher flew in with a kick, they tried an assisted corner powerbomb, but Bandido countered mid-air with a super hurricanrana. King held back Fletcher in the ropes, as Bandido hit a Frog Splash on Takeshita, but Fletcher got free and broke the pin.

King & Fletcher spilled outside, as King tried his cross body against the barricade, but Fletcher moved and hit a running boot. Back inside, Bandido wanted a 21-Plex, but Takeshita hit an up kick, pulled Bandido to the top, but Bandido backflipped onto Fletcher outside. Bandido quickly tried a Tornillo back inside, but Takeshita popped him with a forearm in mid-air and hit Raging Fire to pin the ROH Champion.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita defeated Bandido & Brody King when Takeshita pinned Bandido

-Video package on The Outrunners vs. FTR last week on Collision in a fantastic match. Magnum & Floyd talked about how close they were to winning the match, but still stood toe-to-toe, proving The Outrunners will never quit. This isn’t over between the two teams. We’re then told FTR will team with Christian Cage & Nick Wayne to take on The Outrunners & JetSpeed on Collision tomorrow night.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with FTR & The Patriarchy, asking how this is going to go on Collision? Cage said he could run down FTR’s accomplishments, but he doesn’t have enough time. He’s expecting nothing but success, as he likes where FTR’s heads are at. If they scratch FTR’s backs on Collision, they scratch theirs at All In. Stokely Hathaway said it’s a miscarriage of justice that FTR aren’t included in the Tag Title match at All In, not like they’re the winningest tag team in AEW history or anything. Hathaway said it’s not Cage’s fault, so at All In, they’ll be watching and this back scratching thing, we’ll see how tomorrow goes. Hathaway has to literally pull Cage’s hand up for a handshake, as FTR walks away with Cage wiping his hand off.

Ricochet vs. Blake Christian

(This was your standard Christian match, where he got a lot of offense in, but ultimately lost, as this was a way to introduce Ricochet’s new crew he’s been searching for going on weeks now in the Gates of Agony. I like this Trio, as it gives Ricochet some muscle to hide behind as he seeks gold in AEW.)

No entrance for Christian, who had an inset promo saying he’s all alone after what the Gates of Agony did to his partner Lee Johnson on Collision. Christian said he hopes Ricochet leaves his dogs in the cage tonight, so he can kick his ass one on one. Commentary talked about Ricochet also being in the Casino Gauntlet, if his number is called), as Christian got a hot start, leaving Ricochet scrambling outside, forcing Christian to give chase, suckering him into the ring. Christian answered with a dropkick out of the corner and slapped the bald dome of Ricochet before sending him outside, following up with a twisting corkscrew dive. Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona show up on the aisle, as the distraction was enough for Ricochet to slam Christian into the steps heading to commercial.

Ricochet controlled the break, but when things returned, Christian fought back with a rolling Spanish Fly for two. Christian connected on a misdirect lariat and step-up corner kick before hitting a leaping Cutter off the second and springboard 450 Splash for another near fall. Christian wanted another dive, but Kaun & Liona tried to attack, only for Christian to step off their backs back to the apron. Ricochet distracted the ref, giving Kaun & Liona a chance to squash Christian outside, as Ricochet connected on the Spirit Gun back inside. Instead of ending it there, Ricochet hit Vertigo for good measure to win it.

Post-match, Kaun & Liona hit Open the Gates on Christian to stand tall with Ricochet, who has found his back-up.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Blake Christian

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Hurt Syndicate and asks about MJF’s one on one talky talk with Mark Briscoe tonight.  MJF said he’s not going out there alone tonight, as Briscoe is about to get hurt. At All In, MJF is going to get back what is rightfully his, the AEW World Title. MVP, Benjamin & Lashley left briefly to their locker room and realized their Tag Team Titles were stolen, but on the white board read

“Hey Shelton, Since I already pinned you on Collision, figured we would take the titles. Happy Birthday, JetSpeed!”

MVP, Benjamin & Lashley were furious, as they told MJF they had to deal with this. Realizing he will be all alone during the Talky Talk, as Paquette gleefully walked in to remind him that it’s up next.

-An excellent video package on Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada is shown, showing highlights of their NJPW classics and also their run-ins so far in AEW and the interjection of Don Callis and turning his back on Omega years ago in the Steel Cage Match. Callis said he will wipe Omega from the history books from All Elite Wrestling. Okada felt great seeing Omega’s blood. Omega said Okada will get a different Kenny Omega, while Okada said he will hurt and maybe kill Omega. Callis said Omega will be a footnote and he’ll be the author. It ended with Omega saying one final time, let’s leave it in the ring, for everything. This was excellent.

MJF & Mark Briscoe’s Talky Talk

Tiny pickle signs and chants from the crowd, as Briscoe agreed with the fans, but told them to simmer down, it’s time for a talky talk, which MJF said is the dumbest sh*t he’s heard in his life. MJF mocks the crowd saying howdy y’all, I hope Briscoe doesn’t mosey down his way at All In, as he’ll dog walk ya. MJF said stepping in the ring with him is about as ignorant as throwing rocks at a man with a machine gun, telling the hillbilly to take a walky-walk back to his meth lab in dumpster fire Delaware to feed all 95 of his inbred children shoe leather and chicken feed, you pathetic poor. MJF did a dance and you could hear Taz break on commentary.

Briscoe said what MJF needs is a good old country ass whoopin and it’ll happen at All In. Saturday is ass whoppin day, but Wednesday is talky-talk day, as Briscoe is proud to be a redneck, working hard for every dollar he’s put in his pocket. MJF is wearing his dumbass suit and scarf that probably costs more than his entire wardrobe. MJF might have money, but the good Lord has blessed Briscoe with family and friends, which MJF is bankrupt in. The Word of the Day is Bankrupt, as MJF is morally bankrupt and has no soul. Briscoe sees right through MJF, he knows what he’s about to do. Talk some dumb sh*t about his brother to get him riled up, but Briscoe has been preparing the whole week, so go ahead.

MJF said he’d never say anything bad about his brother, who will go down as one of the best wrestlers of all time and one of the greatest people ever, as there’s a special place in heaven for someone like Jay Briscoe. However, MJF pity’s his brother, as he has to look down from the pearly gates to see what Mark Briscoe has become and he’s probably rolling in his grave seeing his brother go from being one half of one of the greatest tag teams of all time, Dem Boys, to being nothing but a joke. MJF isn’t a betting man, but he bets if Jay Briscoe was somehow able to be there tonight, he’d say Chicken, it shouldn’t have been me in that accident, it should’ve been you.

Briscoe shot a double leg and the fight was on, with Briscoe nearly getting a Jay Driller when The Hurt Syndicate music hit and out walked MVP, Shelton Bejamin & Bobby Lashley to surround the ring, but JetSpeed quickly attacked from behind. MJF tried to bolt, but Briscoe chased after him out of the building, as JetSpeed continued their attack on The Hurt Syndicate, decking them with the Tag Team Titles and slamming Benjamin into the steps, as Bailey followed with a dropkick. Running double boot flattened Lashley, as JetSpeed, finally, after weeks of getting their asses kicked, looked strong heading into All In.

The Patriarchy slowly walked out from the back, as Christian Cage & Kip Sabian slammed Lashley & MVP against the barricade. Nick Wayne joined Cage, as they gave a Con-Chair-To to the knee of Lashley repeatedly. Back in the ring, Benjmain ate a roundhouse kick from Bailey, as Knight followed with a UFO Splash. JetSpeed & The Patriarchy stared each other down, as commentary said the Tag Title match at All In now looks like a toss-up.

Megan Bayne (w/Penelope Ford) vs. Tay Melo (w/Anna Jay) vs. Queen Aminata vs. Thekla for the #2 Spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In

(There was one person in this match who was massively over and came off like a monster, that was Bayne. That said, there was some clunky moments in this, as it felt like Melo was on a different page than others on a few occasions. I do, however, like how they kept the recent feud between Thekla & Aminata a running theme of this match, as it looks like their feud is only getting going.)

Kris Statlander is seated ringside watching who will join her to kick off the Gauntlet. Bell sounded and Bayne immediately hit a big boot on Thekla, who responded with a slap to the face, only to be sent outside. Bayne was low bridged by Melo, who met her with a somersault senton off the apron. Thekla leapt onto the pile with a cross-body, as Aminata followed with a somersault dive to stand tall, as she slammed Thekla into the barricade into commercial.

Back from break, there was supposed to be a cazadora cutter by Aminata & Melo on Thekla, but Melo missed her mark and things got awkward briefly. Once Bayne returned, she got things back on track with a series of corner splashes and sit-out slam on Aminata for two, broken up by a Thekla punt kick. Thekla tried a revolution DDT, but Bayne held on, did the deal and hit a Falcon Arrow for two. Melo & Aminata took turns ping ponging Bayne with strikes before being sent over the top with a double clothesline. Thekla ate a pump kick by Melo, Bayne flew in to take her out with a clothesline, as Thekla tried a Lungblower off the second rope, Bayne caught her and launched Thekla over the top onto Aminata & Melo. Crowd loudly popped for Bayne, who took out the pile with a Suicide Dive.

Bayne threw Melo back inside, as she no sold a jawbreaker, so Melo lit her up with kicks and hit the Tay-KO, but Bayne rolled outside. Melo somehow didn’t see Thekla standing right in the middle of the ring, as she ate a forearm, allowing Thekla to do the Spider pose and Spear, but Aminata broke the count. Series of reversals led to a cazadora pin attempt for two by Thekla, but Aminata answered with Off with Her Head, as Ford tried getting involved, but Jay brawled with her outside. Bayne returned and flattened Aminata with a running Liger Bomb to win it.

Match Result: Megan Bayne defeated Tay Melo, Queen Aminata & Thekla to earn the 2nd Spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In

-Excalibur mentions the recent flooding in Texas and the victims are in their thoughts during such a tough time.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Thekla, saying she’s looked impressive since joining AEW, while even though she was unsuccessful tonight, she still hasn’t been pinned. Queen Aminata sprinted in and started to brawl with Thekla, as security separated them, while Paquette hilariously stood between them saying tensions are rising ahead of All In and the Casino Gauntlet. Mark Briscoe comes in fired up and rambling saying he’s going to kill MJF’s ass at All In, you curly haired son of a b*tch.

AEW Trios Champion Samoa Joe vs. Wheeler Yuta

(When you first see the match graphic, you immediately think that Yuta was going to get slaughtered, but he got a lot more offense than you’d expect. He’s also wildly hated by the crowd, as he’s done a great job getting heat by just being Wheeler Yuta. The post-match, I think we have our answer on who will probably join Castagnoli & Yuta for the potential Trios Tag Title match against The Opps.)

“Get a Haircut” chants at Yuta, who was almost booed out of the building during his entrance. Yuta wanted a test of strength for some reason and to no one’s surprise, failed horribly. Yuta went up top, Joe was about to do his walk-off, but Yuta had it scouted, landed on his feet and faked an injury. He raked the eyes of Joe, sent him outside, tried a slingshot dive, but Joe successfully walked it off and Yuta crashed hard heading into break.

When things returned, Yuta raked the eyes to escape a Muscle Buster, followed with a missile dropkick and dive to the outside. Quickly back inside, Yuta connected on a flying elbow, but Joe kicked out at one. Yuta hit a spinning arm breaker out of the corner and sank in a kimura, but Joe got to his feet, Manhattan Drop, Big Boot, Senton signature combo before hitting a snap powerslam for two. Yuta pulled referee Bryce in front of him to get an eye poke, tried a skin the cat German suplex, but instead got an O’Connor Roll, which Joe easily kicked free from, as Yuta landed right into the Coquina Clutch for the quick submission.

Post-match, Gabe Kidd attacked Joe from behind and put the boots to him with Yuta before Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata sprinted out, as Kidd & Yuta escaped.

Match Result: Samoa Joe defeated Wheeler Yuta

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley (w/Marina Shafir), Claudio Castagnoli & The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Hangman Adam Page, Will Ospreay & AEW Trios Champions Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata

(A wild party match that ended in total insanity, exactly what you’d want and hope for heading into the biggest show of the year this Saturday. Of course, they kept the Moxley & Page interaction a minimum during the actual match, as Moxley did everything to avoid Page as much as he could. The post-match chaos, had pretty much everything blow up in the heels faces, as all the babyfaces celebrating to end the show makes me think that won’t be the case for all of them when All In is said and done.)

As soon as the bell sounded, Page turned Matthew inside out with a lariat and flattened him with a big boot before decking Nicholas & Castagnoli, but Moxley got away. The Bucks quickly gained control by double teaming Page, but opted to pose, missing an Ospreay tag, as he flew in for a cross body and double Pele kick. Quick tags by Shibata & Hobbs, working in stereo with a running corner dropkick and powerslam before Ospreay used Hobbs’ back as a launch pad to hit a Sky Twister Press. Match broke down outside, as Ospreay flew onto a pile with a slingshot dive, Nicholas hit his punt kick on the apron, until he was knocked outside, where Page hit his Orihara Moonsault onto everyone into commercial.

During break, a table was set up ringside, as Ospreay was worked over a majority of the time. Castagnoli missed a corner charge and posted his shoulder, but Moxley tagged in and was met with a snap suplex, allowing Page to make the hot tag, as Moxley quickly bailed, tagging Matthew. Page ran wild on everyone else, though, laying out Castagnoli with a slingshot dive and spiking Nicholas face first on the apron. Moonsault off the apron wiped out Castagnoli, pop-up powerbomb on Matthew for two, as Nicholas was launched outside. Blind tag on Castagnoli, as Matthew avoided Dead Eye. Page kicked free from a Giant Swing and we get a Meat face-off with Hobbs & Castagnoli, who slug it out. Hobbs no sold a lariat and mowed down Castagnoli with a body tackle and corner clotheslines, as Moxley tried to jump in and hit a big boot, but Hobbs no sold again and ran through Moxley with a huge lariat.

Shibata tagged in and sank in the Rear Naked Choke on Castagnoli, but he released, tried a PK, but Castagnoli caught it and ate a superkick from Nicholas. The Bucks escaped Dead Eye from Page and hit a double Superkick, backflipped Ospreay, who was trying a double Pele Kick again, hit him with a double superkick as well. Hobbs was up on the apron and no sold a double superkick at first, but not the second, as he fell back into the arms of Castagnoli & Moxley, who slammed him through the table. Shibata was left along with The Bucks, who hit an EVP Trigger, allowing Moxley to tag in as Castagnoli hit a Neutralizer, as Moxley applied the Bulldog Choke to win it.

Post-match, Page ran in the ring and got in a few punches before Wheeler Yuta & Gabe Kidd hit the ring as Shafir handed a chain to Moxley, who wrapped it around the throat of Page. Ospreay tried to make the save, but was beaten down for his efforts as well. The Bucks & Death Riders stood tall, as Shafir handed The Bucks plastic bags while Ospreay & Page were held until Swerve Strickland was shown on the big screen. Strickland was sitting in a dirt digger telling The Young Bucks what they’ve done this year has been out of control, so he’s taking some of it back, leaving the rest for Ospreay & himself at All In. This is how vengeance goes, as Strickland smashes The Bucks’ limousine with a dirt digger repeatedly, causing The Bucks to run out of the ring. Samoa Joe ran in and helped make the save, Ospreay hit a huge dive onto the Death Riders, as Strickland got out of the digger, flipping off the camera asking Whose House? Page, meanwhile, was about ready to lay out Moxley with a Buckshot, but Castagnoli took the bullet at the last second. Page & Moxley had a face-off until Page was tossed the chain, causing Shafir to save Moxley and get him out of the ring, as Death Riders retreat with Page, Ospreay & The Opps standing tall.

The Bucks frantically leave the arena, asking how they’re going to financially recover from this, as the limousine is tipped up on its side. Prince Nana walks in and laughs, as it was distraction for Strickland to leap in with a Swerve Stomp onto The Bucks, as he walked off laughing with Nana back to the arena celebrating with Ospreay as Page stared Moxley down, then back at Ospreay & Strickland, as the show closed.

Match Result: Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & The Young Bucks defeated Hangman Adam Page, Will Ospreay, Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata
