AEW reportedly introducing TBS Women’s Championship

While the long-discussed Trios titles are still just a fantasy for AEW fans, a new secondary women’s title is reportedly on the way.

During Denise Salcedo’s 100th edition of Speak Now, Mat Men’s Andrew Zarian said that AEW is set to introduce the TBS Championship, joining the World Women’s title as singles titles.

No other details were provided in terms of when or how the title would be debuted.

AEW will move Dynamite to TBS starting on Wednesday, January 5th.

If the title creation comes to fruition, it would be in parallel with the men’s division which has the World title and the TNT Championship as singles titles.

Four women have held the Women’s title since its creation in October 2019. Riho defeated Nyla Rose in the tournament finals on the first-ever Dynamite to kick off a 133-day reign, followed by Rose winning it for a 101-day reign.

Hikaru Shida beat Rose at 2020’s Double or Nothing for the title, starting the longest reign in the history of the belt at 372 days. Britt Baker defeated her at this year’s Double or Nothing and has held the title for 116 days as of this writing.
