Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (w/ Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa) defeated Ethan Page, Matt Hardy & Isiah Kassidy (w/ Brandon Stokley) for the AEW World Trios Title (14:44)
During this match, a graphic announced that Omega and the Bucks would take on AR Fox and Top Flight for the Trios Tiles on Dynamite.
Nick Jackson and Kassidy started the match and Kassidy looked impressive. Matt got the tag and the Bucks did this double team move where one Buck hit a neckbreaker on Kassidy tnat sent him into a backbreaker from the other Buck. Tags were made and Kenny Omega went up against Matt Hardy. JR tried to put this over as a big deal but it just felt like the best in the world against an old man past his prime. Hardy sent Omega out to the floor with a forearm. Hardy set up a moonsault off the top to the floor (he was never going to hit), but Ethan Page and made a blind tag and caught Omega with a forearm off the apron.
Back in the ring, Page tried to orchestrate a triple team on Omega, but it backfired and Omega hit Page with a hurricanrana. The Bucks got the tag double dropkicked Hardy, and Matt held Kassidy up in a wheelbarrow position for Omega to hit a bulldog. Nick Jackson took out Page and Kassidy with a dive. Back in the ring Matt Jackson hit a Northern Lights suplex on Hardy, then Page. Page distracted Matt Jackson and Hardy hit the Side Effect for a near fall. Page demaned the tag and dropped Matt Jackson with a side backbreaker.
After a split screen break, Page caught Matt Jackson with a superkick and tagged in Hardy. Hardy rammed Jackson’s head into the turnbuckles, then pulled him out of the corner into a sit-down powerbomb for a near fall. Page again tagged himself in and came off the middle ropes… right into a superkick from Matt Jackson.
Omega got the tag and came off the top with a crossbody on Page, then took out Page and Kassidy with Polish Hammers. Ethan Page couldn’t escape Omega’s you can’t escape sequence. Omega went for a dragon suplex, but Page backed him into his corner. The heels triple teamed Omega, but when Kassidy tried to spring off Hardy’s back to splash Omega, the Jacksons cut him off with a double superkick.
Omega caught Page with a dragon suplex. Hardy and Omega knocked each other out with a double clothesline, and Nick and Kassidy came off opposite corners with sentons on their opponents. Kassidy caught Nick with a flatliner off the middle ropes, and Matt cut Kassidy off with a superkick. Page yanked Matt Jackson off the mat into a a vertical powerslam, and Omega charged into Page with a V-trigger.
After everyone recovered, Nick and Kassidy exchanged forearms. Kassidy caught Nick with an enziguri. Jackson avoided a charge in the corner and took Kassidy down with a bulldog. The Elite tried for a triple superkick, but Hardy and Page pulled Omega and Matt Jackson of them out of the ring, and Kassidy caught Nick with a Canadian Destroyer.
Page and Kassidy yanked Matt off the middle ropes with an iconoclasm, and then whipped Matt into Hardy for the Twist of Fate for a near fall. Page went for the Ego’s Edge on Matt Jackson, but Omega caught him with a V-Trigger. Hardy sent Omega to the floor. Matt Hardy caught Ethan Page with a right hand that sent him to the floor. While Matt Hardty tended to Page, Kassidy caught Nick with a springboard cutter for another near fall. Kassidy was looking for a tag from Hardy or Page, but Hardy wasn’t in the corner in time because he was tending to Page. Omega creamed Kassidy with a knee in the corner, hit the One-Winged Angel, and the a triple BTE trigger finished off Kassidy. Crazy action to open the show.
– Lexi Nair interviewed Ricky Starks, who agreed to the terms of the Garcia/Guevara Guantlet for Wednesday at Dynamite. Starks will do whatever it takes to beat Jericho and get out of the “web of Jericho.”
– Dueling promos from the Sonjay’s Dutt’s crew and The Best Friends. Danhausen cursed Jarrett’s guys for hitting him with a Grammy! (It was actually a Golden Globe but Danhausen doesn’t know any better).
Shane Strickland (w/ the Mogul Affiliates) defeated Brian Pillman Jr. (7:12)
The Mogul Affiliates are Parker Bordeaux and “Trench.” After Swerve’s promo on Dustin Rhodes last week, Swerve now hates all second generation wrestlers. Pillman sent Swerve to the floor with a dropkick before the show went to a commercial. During the split-screen part of the commercial, Swerve popped Pillman’s knee and began to attack his leg.
After a long commercial, Pillman caught Swerve with a superkick for a near fall. Pillman pick Swerve up for a fireman’s carry, but Swerve escaped and caught Pillman with a kick to the knee, then a kick to the back of the head for a near fall. The commentator’s kept talking about Swerve working over Pillman’s knee for the whole match, but most of that happened during the commercial. Pillman tried to go to the top, but Trench distracted the ref and Bordeaux pulled Pillman off the ropes. I can’t blame the ref for getting distracted, those tattoos would distract me too. Swerve caught Pillman with a death valley driver on the ring apron, then came off the top with a double stomp for the pinfall.
After the match, The Mogul Affiliates roughed up Pillman, but Dustin Rhodes “ran” in to make the save. Rhodes chased off the heels with a turnbuckle hook.
– Malakai Black clarified what The House of Black wanted from Eddie Kingston. They didn’t want him to join the House of Black. They just wanted to prove he could be corrupted and be a jerk to his friend Ortiz.
Saraya & Toni Storm defeated The Renegade Twins (5:10)
Robyn Renegade (the twin with curly hair) and Toni Storm started out and Storm hit her with a Thez press and right hands. Saraya buried knees in Robyn’s ribs while Storm distracted the ref, and then Storm sent Robyn to the floor with her running hip attack. Saraya got the tag and gave Robyn a series of short-arm clotheslines, which might have been a message to Jamie Hayter. Storm tagged in and locked Robyn in a full nelson on the mat. Robyn fought out of the hold and caught Strom with an enziguri, then finally tagged in her sister for the first time.
Charlette hit a pair of clotheslines but was immediately cut off by a shotgun dropkick from Storm. Storm hit the running hip attack on Charlette, Saraya caught her with a thrust kick and Storm hit the Storm Zero piledriver to get the pinfall.
After the match, Saraya and Storm pulled cans of spray paint and painted “L” on the Renegade Twins stomachs.
– Another Adam Cole promo teasing his return at Revolution.
Rush (w/ Jose & Preston Vance) defeated “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels (9:51)
Since this is a matchup of former ROH World Champions, they advertised HonorClub and the Supercard of Honor on the screen.
Daniels sent Rush to the floor and hit a tope as the show went to a split screen break. Rush dominated the match during the split screen break, and Preston Vance got some shots in on Daniels as well.
After the break, Rush kicked Daniels to the floor, and Vance slapped Daniels with money from MJF’s briefcase. Daniels avoided a pump kick from Vance, who hit Jose. Daniels thenthrew Jose into the ring. This distracted Rush, and Daniels was able to get a roll up for a near fall. Daniels hit a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Rush came back with a superkick, but Daniels hit a death valley driver for a near fall. Daniels locked Rush in the koji clutch, but Vance put Rush’s foot on the rope. Daniels planted Rush with an uranage. Daniels went for the Best Moonsault Ever, but Rush got his knees up. Rush suplexed Daniels into the corner, then hit the Bulls Horns to get the pinfall. Felt more like a Youtube show main event.
