AEW Rampage live results: Jon Moxley vs. Anthony Bowens, two title matches
Two titles will be on the line on Friday’s Beach Break edition of AEW Rampage in addition to another Jon Moxley match.
Moxley will look to win his second straight match since returning to action last Friday as he faces Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed.
Jurassic Express will defend their AEW Tag Team titles against Private Party who come into the bout on a two-match win streak. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus will be trying to pick up the second defense of the gold they won earlier this month.
Inaugural TBS Champion Jade Cargill will aim to remain undefeated in her young career as she faces Julia Hart in Cargill’s second defense of the title. Hart comes into her first title challenge on a four-match winning streak.
In a postponed match from Wednesday due to medical protocols, FTR will take Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson in a challenge made two weeks ago.

Jon Moxley defeated Anthony Bowens (w/ Max Caster) (12:02)
Caster’s rap was fantastic. Moxley’s wife hasn’t called Caster back yet, but the network sensors did and they want Moxley to watch his mouth. Also, they’re gonna send Moxley back to the “garbage indies.” The rap was so fantastic that Moxley knocked out Caster right away and took Bowens down with a German suplex.
Moxley took the fight to the floor and brawled with Bowens all over the arena. They fought on the floor for a long time, until Bowens sent Moxley’s arm into the ring post. Back in the ring, Bowens worked over Moxley’s arm and got a near fall with a Russian leg sweep. Moxley came back with a standing vertical suplex and a series of kicks to the chest. Caster tripped up Mocley, and Bowens hit a rolling forearm and ripcord neckbreaker for a near fall. Bowens hit a swinging neckbreaker and the show went to a split screen break.
Back from break, Bowens perplexed Moxley from the top rope to the near fall. Moxley backdropped Bowens onto Caster, then took out Caster with a tope suicida. Bowens caught Moxley with that twisting/hanging DDT in the ropes for another near fall. Moxley came back with a jumping piledriver for a near fall. Moxley tried for a sunset flip, but Bowens countered with the Bret/Davey Boy finish from Summerslam 1992, but Moxley escaped. Bownens got another near fall after his inverted uranage the “Acclaimed to Fame.”
Bowens went for the boom box, but referee Aubrey Edwards took it away. This allowed Caster to slip Bowens the chain, but Moxley took Bowens down with a cutter. Moxley clotheslined Caster out of the ring when he ran in, hit a King Kong lariat on Bowens, then finished Bowens off with the Paradigm Shift (that looked more like the leaping Death Rider version to me).
Post match, Bryan Danielson was shown watching the match in the back. And watching TV like a normal person.
– Nyla Rose cut a pretaped promo about her match with Ruby Soho on Dynamite. That match has been made for Chicago (so hopefully Soho gets a good pop in Chicago).
– Andrade El Idolo and Jose found Darby Allin in a locker room, with a contract for “his boss” (Sting) to sign. “Here is the kid! Finally! Nice to meet you.” El Idolo tried to give Allin the contract, but Allin is not interested. Allin pulled a bat out from behind his chair and El Idolo and Jose left to rethink their position.
FTR (w. Tully Blanchard) defeated Lee Johnson & Brock Anderson (w/ Arn Anderson) (9:10 aired)
Great matwork from Brock and both members of FTR early on. On the topic of Cash Wheeler being the son Arn Anderson wanted, Jericho quipped “You never know. The Horsemen were pretty nuts in the 80s.”
Lee Johnson got the tag and hit a pescada on Cash Wheeler, then got backdropped over the top by Anderson onto Dax Harwood. Johnson got a near fall off a high crossbody for two and the show went to a commercial break.
Back from break, Johnson hit a hangman’s neckbreaker on Harwood and got the tag to Anderson, who clotheslined both members of FTR. Anderson hit a Doctor Bomb on Wheeler and went for the DDT, but Harwood countered. Anderson catapulted Johnson into a gamengiri from Johnson, hit the DDT on Wheeler, and then Jonhson hit the frog splash for a near fall. On the floor, Brock Anderson got into with Tully Blanchard and he turned right into Arn Anderson, who knocked him out with a left hand.
Back in the ring, Johnson got caught in the FTR corner. They hit him with a spike piledriver for the pinfall. Match definitely picked up a lot after the break.
– Another Mercedes Martinez/Thunder Rosa video package. This feud (which has just been the two of them talking trash in video packages for a month straight) has been “heating up” according to Excalibur. This match has been signed for next week’s Rampage.
– Excellent video package hyping up Serena Deeb. Various highlights of her destroying people and then smiling.
Jade Cargill (w/ “Smart” Mark Sterling) defeated Julia Hart (w/ Griff Garrison) to retain the TBS Championship (2:28)
It’s madness the TBS title is being defended on TNT and the TNT title is being defended on TBS.
In addition to being the TBS champion, Cargill has the longest winning streak in the company. Hart wrestled with an eye patch after being “blinded” by Malakai Black a few weeks ago. Cargill caught Hart with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. After an elbow and a near fall, Cargill stopped to do some push ups and sit ups. Hart went for a clothesline and literally bounced off Cargill. Hart made a brief comeback and countered a powerbomb attempt with a hurricanrana for a near fall. But Cargill immediately popped up with a pump kick, then finished Hart off with the Jaded slam.
On commentary, Excalibur pushed hard that the pump kick came from Hart’s “blind side.” Cargill is 26-0 and they’re really playing up her undefeated record now.
Main Event Promo. The tag teams involved in the main event stand around while the old guys talk. Kassidy threw some shade at Cleveland, promsing the crowd something they haven’t seen in years: “A championship celebration.” “It’s TIME for the MAIN EVENT!”

Jurassic Express (w/ Christian Cage) defeated Private Party (w/ Matt Hardy & Blade) for the AEW World Tag Team Championship (10:45)
The Gunn Club were shown watching from ringside, and they got into it with Jurassic Express when they got to the ring. With the champs distracted, Private Party took advantage and attacked the Express on the floor. Private Party got Jungle Boy in the ring and hit the Gin & Juice for a near fall within the first few seconds of the match. Jungle Boy avoided a double legdrop from Private Party and got the tag to Luchasaurus. Private Party dropped to the floor with Luchasaursus giving chase. On the floor, Hardy caught Luchasaurus with a chair to the knee, and Private Party took control.
Back from a split-screen break, Andrade El Idolo and Jose are shown watching from a luxury box. In a pretty hokey spot, Luchasarus tried walking to his corner while Private Party held on to his legs, dragging them both behind him as he slowly walked to make the tag.
Luchasaurus did make the tag to Jungle Boy, and he hit a trio of tope suicidas on Private Party. Isaiah Kassidy caught Jungle Boy with an enziguri for a near fall. In another contrived spot, Jungle Boy wound up on Luchasuarus’s shoulders and caught Kassidy coming off the top rope and powerslammed him off his partner’s shoulders for a near fall.
Private Party caught Luchasaurus with the silly string for a near fall. Jungle Boy locked the snare trap on Kassidy, but Marq Quen broke that up with a top rope shooting star press. Private Party went for the Gin & Juice again, but Jungle Boy countered that into a Canadian Destroyer. Jurassic Express then hit the Thoracic Express on Quen to get the pinfall.
After the match, the Gunn Club ran in and laid out the Jurassic Express, then stood over the champs holding up their title belts.
Final Thoughts:
They need to start putting The Acclaimed in matches on Dynamite and Rampage they can win. All the matches were fine here, nothing terrible but nothing I’d run out of my way to see either.
