AEW Rampage live results: Hangman Page vs. Wheeler Yuta

Four matches make up this week’s edition of AEW Rampage from Lexington, Kentucky.
In one featured match, former AEW World Champion Hangman Page will battle Wheeler Yuta ahead of Page’s trilogy match with Jon Moxley this Wednesday. Yuta, Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club teammate, challenged Page this week backstage.
AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter will take on Emi Sakura in non-title action where if Sakura wins, she earns a future title shot. This will be their first singles match since an indie show in April 2019.
In a grudge trios match that has built for a few weeks, Best Friends & Danhausen will take on Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh & Jay Lethal. It’s the first time either team has been in trios action.
Powerhouse Hobbs will be in action as he takes on Tony Mud in search of his third straight win. Mud is an OVW regular that works the indies as Tony Gunn.

Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Chris Jericho were on commentary.
“Hangman” Adam Page defeated Wheeler Yuta (15:00)
Yuta started out fast with a dropkick, but Page came back with a clothesline. Yuta tried an octopus hold and quickly transitioned into a sunset flip for a near fall, then locked in an Indian Death Lock. Page had to escape by grabbing the bottom rope. Yuta backed Page into the ropes with some hard chops that Ric Flair will probably have some comments on. Page came out of the corner and floored Yuta with a hard lariat. Page backed Yuta into the corner for some chops. Yuta tried to come back, but Page cut him off with a forearm and a sliding lariat for a near fall.
Yuta snapped Page’s neck on the top rope, but Page caught him with a fallaway slam and a springboard lariat sent Yuta to the floor. Page followed Yuta out with a plancha. Page tossed Yuta back into the ring, but hesitated getting back into the ring and Yuta caught him with a plancha. Yuta took the fight to Page on the floor with chops. Yuta tried to hit another plancha, but Page caught him and hit a pop up powerbomb on the ring apron. Back in the ring, Page dropped Yuta with a pop-up Liger Bomb for near fall.
Back from the break, Page worked over Yuta over with a waistlock on the mat. Yuta broke away with elbows and caught Page with a dropkick off the middle rope. Yuta hit a Manhattan drop and an enziguri, then came off the top with a flying forearm. Yuta hit a bulldog for a near fall. Page caught Yuta in the corner with a forearm and headbutts. Page hit a death valley driver from the middle rope for a near fall. Page gave Yuta a pair of german suplexes, but when he went for a third german suplex, Yuta reversed it into three of his own. Yuta and Page fought to the ring apron, and Yuta german suplexed Page on the apron, then held on and Page, rolled to the floor and suplexed him there as well. This match is insane.
Yuta hit Page with a crossbody off the top to the floor. Back in the ring, Yuta went for a frog splash, but Page got his knees up and floored Yuta with a clothesline. Page went for the Buckshot Lariat, but Yuta countered that into an Angle slam. Yuta came off the top with a splash for a near fall. Yuta went for the hammer and anvil elbows, but Page fought out of it. Page hit a rolling elbow, but Yuta fought back and bit Page in the forehead. Page tried to toss Yuta, but Yuta reversed it, sending Page onto the apron… and Page was int he perfect position to hit Yuta with the Buckshot Lariat. Instead of going for the pin, Page picked up Yuta and gave him the Death Rider (Jon Moxley’s finisher) for the pinfall.
This was a great match.
– Ricky Starks and Action Andretti complained about their loss on Dynamite Wednesday. They only lost cause of the baseball bat! Andretti wanted Sammy Guevara one one one, and Ricky Starks can beat Chris Jericho. “And that is the absolute truth!”
– In the back, Eddie Kingston is ready to let his demons run free. Too back for Ortiz, but Kingston understands the House of Black and is “ready to go home.” It sounds like Eddie Kingston is joining the House of Black?
Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh & Jay Lethal (w/ Sonjay Dutt) defeated Best Friends & Danhausen (w/ Orange Cassidy) (8:55 aired)
Danhausen taunted Jarrett witha ukulele, which Singh destroyed. Lethal started out against the Best Friends, and it didn’t go well. He tagged in Jarrett, and Trent Beretta cut him off with an elbow. Jarrett took a beating in the Best Friends corner. Lethal tried to run in and got the Soul Food/Half-and-Half combination, but the heels pulled all the Best Friends out of the ring before they could give the people what they want!
Beretta and Singh squared off in the ring, and Singh easily overpowered Beretta and sent him to the floor. Jarrett taunted Beretta from the ring as the show went to a split-screen break.
Beretta took a beating during the commercial break, but as soon as they came back from the commercial, Beretta got the tag to Chuck Taylor. Jarrett and Lethal tried to double team Taylor, but Taylor sent Lethal headfirst into Jarrett, then caught Jarrett in the figure-four leglock. Lethal tried to break that up with an elbow off the top, but Taylor simply sat up and avoided the move.
Jarrett got the tag to Singh while still in the figure-four, and Danhausen got the tag. Danhausen went one on one with Singh. Danhausen him Singh with a clothesline to Singh’s stomach. Singh no sold that. The Best Friends all triple teamed Singh in the corner. Orange Cassidy caught Singh with an Orange Punch on the floor. Danhausen got Jarrett’s guitar and tried to use it on Singh, but the ref grabbed the guitar. Behind the ref’s back Jarrett knocked out Danhausen with Paul Walter Houser’s Golden Globe (which Jarrett’s crew stole a few weeks ago). Singh pinned Danhausen with one foot.
– Renee Paquette tried to interview Ruby Soho, but Britt Baker interrupted and demanded that Soho pick a side in the AEW Originals v. New Blood feud.
Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Tony Mud (1:11)
Mud was a dud. Hobbs destroyed him with a clothesline and an avalanche in the corner. Hobbs hoisted Mud up and finished him off with what I’ll politely call a Burning Hammer to get the pinfall.
– Top Flight talked up their big victories over the Young Bucks and in the Three Kings Battle Royal. They throw out a challenge for the Trios Titles with AR Fox as their partner.
– Renee Paquette tried to interview Dustin Rhodes, but Sweve Strickland and his tattooed crew interrupted to challenge another “old head.” Swerve insulted Dustin’s brother and father before the referees came into break them apart. You can probably pencil that in for Rampage next week.
– Lexi Nair questioned TBS Champion Jade Cargill on who she’ll face next in her quest to 50-0, but Red Velvet interrupts to challenge Cargill for next. “I may have been your first, but next week I’m the one. 49-1.” Okay that was pretty cool, even though Velvet has no chance.
AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter (w/ Britt Baker & Rebel) defeated Emi Sakura (w/Mei Suruga) in a Title Eliminator Match (12:31)
Huge pop for Hayter on a show without many other notable crowd reactions.
This match was phenomenal.
Hayer and Sakura were throwing stiff chops early. They went to the floor, and Sakura whipped Hayter back and forth into the ring apron and ring barricade. Sakura backed Hayter against the barricade for more chops.
Back in the ring, Sakura tossed Hayter around by her hair, then chopped and slapped her in the corner. Sakura hit a crossbody in the corner on Hayter. Hayter sprung back up with forearms, but Sakura responded with an elbow drop. Sakura locked Hayer into a Romero special.
Sakura continued to dominate Hayter during the split screen break. Hayter tried to come back with chops, but Sakura responded with one chop to take Hayter down. Hayter hit a pair of exploders and both women’s chests were bright red from all the hard chops. Hayter hit a clothesline in the corner and followed up with the Hayt-breaker for a near fall. Sakura countered the Hayterade with a double chop, and Sakura hit her double-underhook backbreaker for a near fall.
Hayter tried a sliding lariat, but Sakura countered with a crucifix for a near fall. Hayter hit the sliding lariat on the second try for a near fall. Hayter pulled Sakura off the top rope with a cutter, but sort of missed a moonsault. Sakura got a near fall with La Magistral’s cradle, then got another near fall with a tiger driver. Sakura hit a moonsault of her own for another near fall.
Sakura slapped away at Hayter, but Hayter leveled Sakura with a lariat. Hayter went for the ripcord lariat, but Sakrua countered with a backdrop driver. But Hayter came back and destroyed Sakura with another lariat, then finally hit the Hayterade ripcord lariat for the pinfall.
Final Thoughts:
