AEW Rampage live results: Daniel Garcia vs. Action Andretti

Friday’s AEW Rampage doesn’t have any title matches and is a lineup centered around some of the company’s younger stars in addition to revenge-fueled matchups.

Former ROH Pure Champion Daniel Garcia will be in action against Action Andretti. Andretti has been the focus of the Jericho Appreciation Society’s ire since he defeated Chris Jericho late last year and Garcia will be looking to gain a measure of revenge.

“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry will return to singles action against The Firm’s Ethan Page. Perry and Hook defeated The Firm’s Big Bill & Lee Moriarty last week so Page will be looking for his own measure of revenge.

TBS Champion Jade Cargill & Leila Grey will be in tag team action as they move on from former Baddie Red Velvet.

After their fun match on Monday’s Dark: Elevation, Brian Cage and Willie Mack will have a rematch ahead of Cage’s bout with Bryan Danielson on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Eddie Kingston will also be on hand to share some thoughts.

Taped in Fresno, California.

Jim Ross, Chris Jericho (who hates it when the crowd sings along with someone’s entrance music), Tony Schiavone and Excalibur were on commentary.

“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry defeated Ethan Page (w/ Matt Hardy, Stokely Hathaway and Isiah Kassidy) (10:11)

Page tried to grab Perry from behind for a crucifix powerbomb before the match started, but Perry slid out of the move and the fight was on. Page got the advantage when Stokely Hathaway tripped up Perry while he was running the ropes. The fight went to the floor, where Page whipped Perry into the ring barricade. Page clotheslined Perry out of the ring, then whipped him into the ring barricade and sent him into the ringpost head first. Page chopped Perry and gave him some hard chops. Back in the ring, Page press-slammed Perry as the show went to break.

Back from the break, Perry hit a lariat off the ropes, but Page countered with a backdrop. Page pulled Perry off the turnbuckle with a cross armed iconoclasm, then followed up with a vertical powerslam for a near fall. Page went for a Twist of Fate, but Perry escaped and backed Page into the corner for some right hands. Stokley distracted Perry and Page pulled him down into a hot shot, then hit the Twist of Fate for a near fall. Perry rolled out to the floor.

With Perry on the floor, Page encouraged Matt Hardy to attack him. Hook’s music played and he entered the arena, distracting everyone. Perry went for a sunset flip, but Page grabbed Hardy’s ponytail for leverage. Hardy pushed Page away, and Perry rolled Page up into a sunset flip to get the pinfall.

After the match, Page challenged JungleHook to face him and Matt Hardy on Dynamite Wednesday. This match was made official later in the show. Until then, Hathaway put Hardy and Isiah Kassidy on “time out.” Good match with a clever finish.

– Tony Schiavone interviewed Ortiz in the ring. Ortiz called out Eddie Kingston to settle their differences. Kingston came out with a steel chair, and Schiavone got out of the ring. Ortiz was upset with Kingston for trying to hit a woman with a chair. “Is that how your mother raised you?” Ortiz said that their mentor Homicide would call Kingston a “fake tough guy” and that was enough for Kingston. He hit Ortiz with a chair and left himlaying. This has all worked out for the House of Black, who wanted to split up Kingston and Ortiz.

– Darby Allin called out House of Black. The last time he was in the ring with House of Black, he “sent them home.” Allin challenged Buddy Murphy for the TNT title on Dynamite Wednesday. This match was made official later in the show.

“The Machine” Brian Cage (w/ Prince Nana) defeated Willie Mack (8:08 aired)

They guys wrestled like cruiserweights in the opening, even though they’re both huge musclemen. Mack caught Cage with a Samoan drop, but missed a standing moonsault. Cage caught Mack with a high boot, and crushed him in the croner with an elbow. Cage followed up with a belly to belly suplex and chops in the corner.

The fight went outside and Cage took Mack down with a uranage on the apron. On the floor, Page whipped Mack into the ringside barricade, then sent him headfirst into the steel ringsteps. Cage ran Mack into the ring barricade again.

After a break, Mack caught Cage with a pump kick and a running knee. Mack hit a Sky High for a near fall. Cage came back with a superkick and an F5 for a near fall. Cage hit a knee strike and a powerbomb, then muscled Mack into the Drill Claw to get the pinfall.

If Willie Mack isn’t signed to ROH or AEW, he should be.

TBS Champion Jade Cargill & Leila Grey defeated Jaida & Jordyn Vanity (3:18)

It seems like there are a lot of women tag teams being positioned for something in AEW.

Grey started out the match for her team and handled both of her opponents. Cargill got the tag (to a pop) and looked annoyed while she battered one of the Vanity sisters with forearms. Grey hit a neckbreaker, then tagged in Cargill who finished off Vanity with the Jaded slam for the pin.

– A Toni Storm v. Britt Baker v. Ruby Soho triple threat match was announced for Dynamite

Action Andretti defeated Daniel Garcia (10:35)

If Garcia won this match, he would have replaced Sammy Guevara as Chris Jericho’s tag team partner on Dynamite Wednesday against Ricky Starks and Action Andretti.

Sammy Guevara joined the commentary team for the main event. Garcia wore his new leather pants from Dynamite.

Garica attacked Andretti before the bell and stomped him in the corner. Andretti came back with hard chops. Andretti hit a tornio off the bottom rope for a near fall. Andretti hit a high speed tope on Garcia. Garcia came back with a clothesline and whipped Andretti into the ropes as the show went to a split-screen break.

After the break, Andretti hit a backbreaker/neckbreaker combo. Garcia dropped to the floor, and Andretti caught him with a slingshot moonsault. Back in the ring, Andretti hit a split-legged moonsault for a near fall. Garcia caught Andretti coming off the ropes in a rear naked choke, but Andretti countered that with a cradle for a near fall. Andretti hit a neckbreaker out of an Angle slam for a near fall.

Andretti came off the ropes with a springboard, but Garcia caught him with a right hand. Garica was frustrated he couldn’t put Andretti away. Garcia went for the sharpshooter, but Andretti countered with a cradle. Andretti came off the top with a tornio, then hit a running shooting star press to get the pinfall.

Final Thoughts:

This was a very solid show. The Cage/Mack match was kind of a show stealer, and I’m really looking forward to Brian Cage v. Bryan Danielson Wednesday.
