AEW Rampage live results: Bandido vs. Rush, All-Atlantic title match

Two matches in the AEW World title eliminator tournament highlight Friday’s AEW Rampage in addition to an All-Atlantic title match.

The two first round matches will see Bandido take on Rush while Brian Cage battles Dante Martin. Friday was also supposed to feature Lance Archer vs. Ricky Starks in the final first round match, but a backstage attack has postponed it to next week instead.

The Bandido/Rush winner will face Ethan Page while the Cage/Martin winner meets the Archer/Starks winner.

Orange Cassidy will defend the AEW All-Atlantic title against The Factory’s Lee Johnson. This is Johnson’s first singles match in AEW since March as he has been recovering from an injury.

Nyla Rose will also be in action as she faces Kayla Sparks. TBS Champion Jade Cargill has also promised a confrontation as she attempts to retake her physical title back.

There will also be a confrontation between Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage as Jungle Boy said he has a surprise for Cage and Luchasaurus.

Taped (instead of live for the first time in about a month) from Boston, Massachusetts. Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone were on commentary.

Jack Perry confronted Christian Cage & Luchasaurus

Christian Cage insulted the people of Boston as unintelligent, which just isn’t true. Perry blamed Christian Cage for costing him “everything” and said Luchasaurus wasted three years of his life. Perry wanted the odds stacked against himself and challenged Luchasaurus to a steel cage match at Full Gear. Cage accepted the challenge and told Perry to make sure his mom was at ringside. Cage brought up Perry’s father, and Perry went right for Cage’s throat. Luchasaurus made the save and chokeslammed Perry onto an open chair.

–Lexi Nair interviewed the Death Triangle. Pac tried to convince his teammates of the power of the hammer and winning “by any means necessary,” tapping his World Trios Title belt with the hammer for added emphasis.

Brian Cage (w/ Prince Nana) defeated Dante Martin in the first round of the Eliminator Tournament (7:12)

Ricky Starks’ match with Lance Archer will take place next week (probably on Dynamite) after he was attacked by Archer on Wednesday. This probably pushes one of the semi-final matches to next week’s Rampage.

Cage caught Martin going for an out of the ring dive in a vertical suplex in a pretty amazing spot right before the match went to a split-screen break.

Cage caught Martin with a tilt-a-whirl slam for a near fall. Cage had Martin up in a fireman’s carry, but Martin countered with a spinning DDT.  JR touted how Martin would be a huge star. Martin hit a series of forearms on Cage. Martin dodged a charge from Cage in the corner and hit an enziguri, then came off the top with a crossbody for a near fall. Martin hit a springboard crossbody to the floor, then hit a frog splash off the top for a near fall. Martin caught Cage with a gamengiri, missed a 450 and Cage killed him with a discus lariat. Cage got a spinning full nelson slam for a near fall. Cage hit Martin with “Weapon X” (a modified Gory Special) for the pinfall.

–  Hook and his chips interrupted a Lee Moriarty interview when Moriarty threw out an open challenge to anyone with gold.

– Another House of Black vignette. In the video,  Buddy Matthews, Brody King and Malakai Black “died” and Julia Hart resurrected them.

Bandido defeated Rush (w/ Jose the Assistant) to advance in the first round of the Eliminator Tournament (8:41 aired)

Rush hit Bandido with a tope con hilo before the bell and whipped Bandido around the ringside barricades. Rush whipped and choked Bandido with an extension cord before tossing him into the ring to start the match.

Rush dominated the match in the ring, whipping Bandido into the corner for an avalanche clothesline before a split-screen break. During the split-screen break, Bandido came back with a step up hurricanrana and a pair of out of the ring dives that would have probably looked great in full screen. Bandido hit a frog splash for a near fall. Rush countered a suplex attempt with a knee and nailed a discus elbow. Rush hit a sloppy top rope dropkick for a near fall. Bandido caught Rush with a press slam for a near fall. Rush and Bandido exchanged a series of german suplexes. Rush caught Bandido with a leg lariat and both men were down. Rush hit a piledriver for a near fall and the crowd chanted “dos!” at Rush. Jose handed Rush a steel chair, which occupied referee Aubrey Edwards. While Edwards dealt with Rush, Jose tried strip Bandido of his mask.

This brought out John Silver, who knocked out Jose and distracted Rush, allowing Bandido to roll him up from behind for the pinfall.

Bandido now faces Ethan Page in the semi-finals on Dynamite Wednesday.

– Rene Paquette tried to interview Claudio Castagnoli, but Jake Hager interrupted to invite Castagnoli to join the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Nyla Rose (w/ Vicki Guerrero & Marina Shafir) defeated Kayla Sparks in a “TBS Title Open Challenge” (0:40)

Rose used a pump-kick to mock Jade Cargill, then finished off Sparks with the Jaded Slam. Rose mocked Cargill’s signature pinfall as well.

Cargill and the Baddies ran out to try and get the TBS belt back. Rose handled the Baddies but Cargill destroyed her with a pump kick, killing any suspense for the upcoming Full Gear match. The whole point of the last month has been to show that Rose is in Cargill’s head and has the advantage. Well, Cargill handled Rose easily. Cargill went after Rose and the belt but “Rose’s security” kept them apart.

– On Dynamite Wednesday, Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson will face Sammy Guevara & Chris Jericho, Ethan Page will face Bandido, The Death Triangle will face Top Flight (Darius Martin’s return) and AR Fox, Toni Storm will face The Bunny and there will be a slew of interviews promoting Full Gear matches. The Acclaimed will also debut a  new rap video.

Orange Cassidy (w/ The Best Friends) defeated Lee Johnson (w/ The Factory) for the All-Atlantic Championship (8:52)

There are six hundred guys (give or take) around ringside. They immediately played a part in the match, and interfered throughout.

Cole Karter jumped up on the ring to distract Cassidy, and Cassidy dropkicked him to the floor. Marshall distracted the ref and the Best Friends, allowing Nick Comoroto pulled Cassidy off the ring apron and toss him into the crowd. The show went to a split screen break. While Chuck Taylor and Trent tended to Cassidy in the crowd, QT Marshall gave Danhausen a piledriver onto the ring stairs.

After the break, Cassidy backdropped Johnson onto Comoroto, then took other members of the Factory out with a dive. Back in the ring, Johnson hit a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Comoroto tried to press slam Cassidy on the floor, but Beretta took him out with a spear. More fighting between the Factory and The Best Friends on the floor, and Cassidy hit Johnson with a DDT in the ring. Johnson caught Cassidy with a back elbow and a pair of superkicks. Cassidy came back and caught Johsnon with the Beach Break to get the win.

After the match, Karter tried to attack Cassidy but got the Orange Punch. Cassidy and Marshall had a brief staredown. The Best Friends and Cassidy shared a hug with Karter once he recovered, then gave him a double chokeslam and powerbomb combination to end the show.
