AEW Rampage live results: All-Atlantic title lumberjack match

For the first time in the title’s history, the AEW All-Atlantic Championship will be defended in a lumberjack match as part of Friday’s AEW Rampage lineup.
Orange Cassidy will defend against QT Marshall as the issues between Best Friends and The Factory continue.
Darby Allin will look to keep his new win streak going as he takes on The Factory’s Cole Karter. Karter took Allin out on behalf of Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt several weeks ago so Allin will be looking for a measure of revenge.
In a match that could determine the next challenger to the AEW Tag Team titles, Jeff Jarrett & Lethal will take on Private Party. The champions, aka, The Acclaimed, will be on the show to reveal who their next challengers will be.
Saraya will talk with Renee Paquette regarding her in-ring return at Full Gear and perhaps what is next for her. Additionally, Swerve in our Glory will be on hand to share some thoughts about what’s next for them.

Taped in Indianapolis, IN.
Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone are on commentary.
Darby Allin (w/out Sting) defeated Cole Karter (w/ Nick Comoroto) (7:39)
Sting came out with Allin, then went to the back. Nick Comoroto came out with Karter, but Allin took him out of the match with a baseball bat. He hit Karter with his high speed plancha before the bell rang.
Once the bell rang, the fight went back out to the floor. Karter crotched Allin on the top rope, then powerbombed him against the ring apron.
Back in the ring, Karter whipped Allin from pillar to post and powerbombed him into the turnbuckles. Karter dropkicked Allin to the floor, then whipped him into the ring stairs. The crowd chanted “You look green!” at Karter, who delivered a snap suplex as the show went to a split screen break.
Karter set up a powerbomb, but Allin countered with some small joint manipulation. Allin hit a code red for a near fall. Allin went to the top, but Karter caught him and hit an avalanche falcon arrow for a near fall. Karter went for a 450 splash, but missed and Allin tried a armbar. Karter tried to escape, but Allin transitioned into a hammerlock Scorpion Death Drop. Allin came off the top with the Coffin Drop to get the pinfall.
– Renee Paquette tried to interview Keith Lee but former ROH Television champion Shane Taylor (who I’m pretty sure has never been on AEW TV) interrupted and challenged Lee to a tag team match at ROH Final Battle. “Shane T and JD Griffey” vs. Keith Lee and I guess Swerve Strickland at Final Battle. What an out of nowhere way to make a match.
– A brief recap of the Preston Vance turn from last week’s show.
– Renee Paquette interviewed The Acclaimed in the ring. Max Caster took a shot at Jeff Jarrett and TNA in his rap, but that just feels like low-hanging fruit. Anthony Bowens in the interview told Jarrett he would have to wait in line, and Bowens intimated they would give the next title shot to FTR (who the crowd chanted for). Before Bowens could challenge FTR, The Gunn Club came out, then Jeff Jarett and his crew came out. While the Gunn Club and Sonjay Dutt aruged, Billy Gunn clarified they wanted “the best,” and this brings out FTR. FTR and the Acclaimed shake hands. FTR v. Acclaimed was made official later in the show for Dynamite on Wednesday.
– Hikaru Shida and Bunny are having a match for the Regina Di WAVE championship, based off of their confrontation a few weeks ago. There might be too many titles in this company. This title match is scheduled for Rampage next week.
Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (w/ Sonjay Dutt & Sahtam Singh) defeated Private Party (w/ Matt Hardy) (5:58 aired)
Lethal and Isiah Kassidy started out. When Matt Hardy got into it with Sonjay Dutt on the outside, Sahtam Singh got in between them, distracting the referee. Lethal whipped Kassidy into the ring barricade so the heels could take control going into the break.
After a long commercial break, Marq Quen got the hot tag. He hit Lethal with a dropkick and Jarrett with a dive on the outside. Private Party hit the silly string on Lethal. Quen went for a 450 splash, but Lethal got out of the way. Quen went for a cradle, but Jarrett broke it up. Jarrett held Quen in position for Lethal to hit the Lethal Injection. Lethal got the pin.
– Rene Paquette interviewed Saraya while sitting around production equipment backstage. Saraya wanted the women in AEW to know that she is going after the AEW Championship. Well if she doesn’t win that one there are 3 or 4 other titles she can go for.
Athena defeated Dani Mo (1:27)
Athena leveled Mo with a forearm and hit a pair of suplexes and a falcon arrow for a near fall. Athena got in the referee’s face and almost got rolled up, then no sold a kick from Mo. Athena leveled her with another forearm. Athena then hit her finisher (knees to the face out of an overhead backbreaker) for the pinfall.
Athena is starting to get some face heat from the crowd for the way she’s destroying the enhancement talents. After the match, Athena suplexed Mo out of the ring and beat her up on the floor. The referees came out to stop Athena’s attack, and she almost hit referee Aubrey Edwards again.
– Juice Robinson challenged Samoa Joe for the ROH Television Championship in a pretty good pre-taped promo. The match will happen at Final Battle. Exclalibur later announced that Robinson officially signed with AEW.
– Mark Henry informed the Best Friends that they’re not allowed to bring axes to the ring for the Lumberjack match. And the crowd booed!
–On Dynamite Wednesday, MJF will have an interview. The Acclaimed v. FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Titles for Dynamite. There will also be a trios match with Jade Cargill and the Baddies. Finally, Darby Allin challenged Samoa Joe for the TNT Championship on Wednesday. That’s a really loaded show.
Orange Cassidy defeated QT Marshall to retain the AEW All Atlantic Championship (9:30)
The referees stopped The Best Friends from bringing their axes to the ring.
Some of the heel lumberjacks were pretty bad at their job. When Cassidy was tossed out to the floor, they just stood there while he hit them with high impact kicks. The match got sidetracked by an argument between Ethan Page and Matt Hardy on the floor, which ended with them leaving because Hardy wouldn’t rough up Cassidy when he tossed out to the floor.
After the split-screen break, the Factory ran into the ring but were taken out by the Best Friends. Cassidy countered a Diamond Cutter attempt, but couldn’t get Marshall up for the Beach Break. Cassidy hit a spinning DDT, but the Factory pulled Marshall out of the ring and away from the Orange Punch. Marshall set up Cassidy for a piledriver on the ring apron, but Danhausen jumped up to curse Marshall. The Factory pulled Danhausen off the apron, triggering a brawl with all the lumberjacks. Cassidy hit a springboard tope con hilo on the pile of lumberjacks, and a bunch of them brawled to the back. .
Penelope Ford came out to the ring and distracted Cassidy while he was on the top rope. Kip Sabian came out of nowhere and shoved Cassidy off the top and into a Diamond Cutter for a near fall. Marshall went for another Diamond Cutter, but Cassidy caught him with the Orange Punch, and the Beach Break got Cassidy the pinfall.
After the match, Cassidy went right after Sabian with a dive to the floor. Sabian and Cassidy brawled to the back. While the lumberjacks brawled in and around the ring, the lights went out and the House of Black appeared. The House of Black destroyed everyone. Malakai Black kept Buddy Matthews and Brody King from hitting Dante’s Inferno on Ortiz. They hit Dante’s Inferno on Serpentico instead. The House of Black continued beating on everyone as the show went off the air.
Final Thoughts:
I keep waiting for AEW to make this show feel important again. The only important things that happened here were the matches set up for other shows.
