AEW Rampage live results: AAA Mixed Tag Team title match, Danielson promo

Friday’s AEW Rampage from Minneapolis, Minnesota, will feature four matches and three promos.
For the first time on AEW TV, the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles will be defended as champions Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti defend against recent rivals Dante Martin & Skye Blue.
This is Guevara & Conti’s first title defense and first match since their recent marriage.
Bryan Danielson will be on hand to cut an in-ring promo for the first time since his loss to Daniel Garcia.
Ahead of their clash in the inaugural Trios titles tournament, Orange Cassidy of Best Friends will take on Ari Daivari of the Trustbusters. The new unit will also send Parker Boudreaux into action against AEW mainstay Sonny Kiss tonight.
Best Friends associate Danhausen will team with the returning Erick Redbeard (Bearhausen) to face Gunn Club in the latter’s first outing since losing a dumpster match to The Acclaimed on Dynamite.
In addition to the Danielson promo, fans will hear from AEW Tag Team Champions Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland in addition to FTW Champion Hook.

Show Report —
Bryan Danielson interview
Schiavone, in the ring, asked Danielson about Daniel Garcia calling himself the “Dragon Slayer.” Danielson said he might not ever be 100% again, but nothing makes him feel more alive than being in this ring, and he will never stop wrestling.
Garcia interrupted and said Danielson is his hero, but it sounds like his hero is coming up with excuses. The thought of his hero retiring hurts Garcia, and in turn, that makes him want to hurt Danielson. He’s going to end Danielson’s career, and he’ll be forced to call him the best technical sports entertainer on the planet.
Danielson said that he can’t stand that “sports entertainment bullsh*t.” He saw Garcia wrestle on the indies, so he asks Garcia: “Do you want to be the best technical sports entertainer in the world, or the best technical wrestler?”

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championships: Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo (c) defeated Dante Martin & Skye Blue
The two pairings went right at each other at the bell. When things settled down, Tay protected Sammy from an attack by Dante, leading to the two women tagging in. Skye came in with a diving crossbody and the two traded slaps before Tay tied her up. Skye fought out and returned fire with kicks, but Sammy tripped her up, allowing Tay’s team to take control ahead of the commercial.
Once back, Skye reached Dante for the hot tag. A series of dropkicks allowed Dante to land a suicide dive on Sammy. Tay grabbed Dante’s boot again, but then Dante launched off Tay’s back to hit a destroyer for two.
The two women took out the two men before Tay hit the Tay-KO for the win.

La Facción Ingobernable was backstage with Private Party. Andrade said they would win the AEW World Trios Championships, and Kassidy got in his face. Excalibur on commentary said Private Party was going for the tag titles, but you wouldn’t have gotten that just from watching the segment.

The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) (w/ Billy Gunn) defeated Beardhausen (Erick Redbeard & Danhausen)
Redbeard shrugged off attacks from both Gunn Club members. He tagged in Danhausen, who went for a curse, but was cut off by Colten. After a commercial, Redbeard got the tag and ran wild on the Gunn Club. He dispatched them to the outside and flattened them with a running crossbody. Back inside, Redbeard hit a slingshot senton and a spinning heel kick for two.
Gunn Club tried to overwhelm Redbeard with the numbers advantage, but Redbeard overpowered them to hit a double suplex. Danhausen tagged in and called for a double team, but Billy pulled down the ropes, sending Redbeard to the outside and allowing Austin to hit the Fame-asser for the win.
– After the match, Billy said the Gunn Club needed to toughen up, and they’ve got another match on Dynamite next week to make that happen.
Stokely Hathaway was at ringside and exchanged words with the Gunn Club.

Swerve in our Glory were backstage, asked about Private Party coming for the tag titles. Keith Lee talked about dismantling both of them early in his AEW career. Swerve said Private Party aren’t even in the top 5, so they’ll cut them a break.

HOOK intervew
In the ring, Schiavone asked about the FTW Championship always being an open challenge. HOOK simply responded “Yup.” Someone named Zack Clayton came out and challenged him, but he wanted the match next week on Rampage.

Mark Henry started the pre-main event interview by asking Ari Daivari about the Trustbusters. Ari said he was trying to build the best unit in AEW. Orange Cassidy started to say “It looks like there’s been enough talk,” but that’s Henry’s line.
Orange Cassidy (w/ Best Friends) defeated Ari Daivari (w/ Parker Boudreaux & Slim J)
When the match started, Ari offered Orange a chance to join the Trustbusters, so long as he laid down. Orange obliged, but when Ari went for the cover, he rolled out of the way. After some shenanigans, Orange performed his hands-in-pockets wrestling. Ari returned fire with a neckbreaker over the ropes to take control before commercial.
Back from break, Orange fought out of a sleeper, leading to the two men hitting simultaneous clotheslines. Orange climbed the ropes and countered an iconoclasm, allowing him to land a diving crossbody. Ari came back with a neckbreaker, but another counter from Orange led to the double down.
Ari reversed the Orange Punch into a uranage for two. Orange fired up with a tornado DDT, then a diving DDT got two. Slim J hopped up on the apron, Chuck Taylor stopped him, and then Orange took out Boudreaux with a suicide dive. Ari hit the Iconoclasm for a near fall.
Orange avoided a thrust kick and hit the Orange Punch for the win.
– After the match, the Best Friends dispatched Slim J, but then Boudreaux single-handedly destroyed the Best Friends. He and Orange faced off, but then Sonny Kiss walked out to back him up. It was a swerve, however, as Sonny low-blowed Orange, allowing Boudreaux to crush him with a powerslam.
