Tony Khan hopes Ricochet will be with AEW ‘forever’

Tony Khan is excited to have Ricochet in AEW and is hoping that he’ll be with the promotion for a long time to come.
During an interview on Superstar Crossover ahead of last night’s Dynamite episode, Khan praised Ricochet as a performer and discussed the process of turning him heel. Khan started to feel the turn before the Continental Classic last year and decided to make it part of the story for the tournament with Ricochet getting darker as a character as things progressed.
“He’s fantastic. He’s an incredible wrestler. He’s also a great talker and he has a great personality, and it’s about giving him an opportunity to showcase that,” Khan said. “So as a match-maker, I put him in situations where he would not only be able to showcase that Ricochet’s one of the greatest wrestlers on the planet — which he is — also knowing that if you’re going to put a guy in his final matches in the Continental Classic in Hammerstein [Ballroom] Saturday night against Will Ospreay and Sunday night on the Christmas episode against Darby Allin, those are the two probably most popular stars with the young fans you could possibly put him in with. And I was very cognizant of how this was going to play out and I thought it would be very smart to lean into it. And he’s certainly really leaned into it and has found himself. He’s building one of the best characters I think in wrestling, which is the villain Ricochet that we see on TV right now. He’s one of the most compelling and interesting people in wrestling, in my personal opinion.”
After leaving WWE, Ricochet made his AEW debut in August 2024. Khan loves working with him and is happy that Ricochet will be a mainstay of the AEW roster for the foreseeable future.
“He’s done a fantastic job with it. I’m incredibly impressed with him. I’m proud that AEW has Ricochet on our roster for years to come — and hopefully forever because that guy’s a star,” Khan said. “I love working with him and I think [Ricochet] is one of the best wrestlers on the planet right now and going forward.”
An All-Star eight-man tag match took place on Dynamite last night with Ricochet, The Young Bucks & Kazuchika Okada defeating Mark Briscoe, Kevin Knight, “Speedball” Mike Bailey & Kenny Omega. Ricochet helped take out Briscoe at the end of the match leading into Okada getting the pin.
Ricochet tweeted today that being with AEW has allowed him to find his love and passion for wrestling again after WWE had “ruined” that for him.
