AEW hires former WWE writer as Vice President of Content Development

After leaving the WWE creative team, Jennifer Pepperman has landed in AEW.

Sports Illustrated reports that AEW is set to announce that Pepperman has joined the promotion as its Vice President of Content Development.

“In AEW, Pepperman will work beside [Tony] Khan,” Sports Illustrated wrote. “Her primary role will be development of content for live programming.”

Pepperman had been with WWE since 2017 but departed the company last week. Her job title with WWE was senior writer/producer. She made the decision to leave WWE on her own and was not released.

Before WWE, Pepperman worked for soap operas One Life to Live and As the World Turns. She has won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Pepperman is close with Mercedes Mone from their time in WWE. Mone is expected to make her AEW debut on the Big Business edition of Dynamite in Boston on Wednesday, March 13.

Meltzer wrote:

Longtime writer and producer Jennifer Pepperman has left [WWE]. It was her decision to leave. She had been there since 2017. Her main focus had been the women’s division on Smackdown. The only thing we were told is that she wanted a change. It was noted she was close with Mercedes Mone.
