AEW Dynamite viewership up for Wild Card Wednesday

Last night’s “Wild Card Wednesday” edition of AEW Dynamite averaged 922,000 viewers on TBS, up 9.8 percent from the previous week. It’s the largest audience for the show since April 20.
In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite drew the same 0.33 rating as it did last week. That ties the second-lowest rating the show has done in that category since February 16.
Dynamite finished seventh on the cable charts in 18-49 last night. The second half of the show went head-to-head with game one of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals, which averaged 6.5 million viewers on TNT and drew a 2.2 rating in the key demo. The pre-show for the game also went head-to-head with Dynamite, averaging 1.68 million and doing a 0.52 in 18-49.
An NHL playoff game on ESPN aired against Dynamite and averaged 1.66 million viewers and a 0.56 in 18-49. The late NHL game started as Dynamite was finishing and also finished ahead of the show. Dynamite was second among non-sports.
The biggest increase for the show was with males 12-34, which were up 27.8 percent from last week. Dynamite also had a big increase with people over 50. There was a corresponding drop of 13.3 percent with females 12-34, so the older audience was the main reason for the overall viewership increase.
As compared to the same week in 2021, Dynamite was up 12.3 percent in overall viewers and up 17.9 percent in 18-49. Those are the largest year-over-year increases for the show since April 6.
Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 demo numbers for Dynamite. This week’s show was down 2.5 percent in overall viewers and down 10.8 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages in both categories.
