AEW Dynamite ratings drop on Thanksgiving eve

Last Wednesday’s Thanksgiving eve episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 536,000 viewers on TBS, down 16.3 percent from the previous week. It’s the third-lowest viewership total the show has ever done on a Wednesday night and is the lowest number for Dynamite since November 6 of this year — the day after the presidential election where the show went head-to-head with WWE NXT.
Dynamite drew a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 25 percent from the November 20 episode and is the lowest rating the show has done in that category on a Wednesday night in its history.
Over the past couple of years, the Thanksgiving holiday has not had a noticeably negative effect on Dynamite ratings. Last year, the episode drew a 0.28 rating, which was up from 0.26 the week before. In 2022, it did a 0.32 rating as compared to a 0.28 the prior week. It was down in 2021 with a 0.31 compared to a 0.37 the week before. In 2020, it was down with a 0.26 as opposed to a 0.37 the week prior. And 2019 saw the number drop from 0.39 to 0.26.
As compared to the same week in 2023 (which was not Thanksgiving eve), Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 37.5 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 48.3 percent. Comparing it to 2023’s Thanksgiving eve episode, the overall viewers were down 36.6 percent with the 18-49 rating down 42.3 percent.
