AEW Dynamite ratings down big, finishes second on cable

Wednesday’s”Road Rager” edition of AEW Dynamite averaged 761,000 viewers on TBS, down 19 percent from last week. It’s the lowest audience for the show on a Wednesday since April 7, 2021 and is Dynamite’s lowest viewership number since moving to TBS.
In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite finished second on the cable charts with a 0.28 rating, down 17.7 percent from last week. That ties Dynamite’s lowest rating on a Wednesday since March 31 of last year.
The big competition came from an NHL Stanley Cup Finals game on ABC that averaged 4.2 million viewers and drew a 1.33 rating in the key demo. That’s less than half of what the NBA has done against Dynamite in recent weeks, so the NHL competition doesn’t fully explain Dynamite’s drop.
The cable news networks were also above their usual levels amid coverage of the January 6 hearings.
Dynamite’s ratings were down in all categories with the biggest decline coming with females 12-34. There was a 35.7 percent drop in that category (to a 0.09 rating). Coincidentally, males in that age group held up the best, dropping only 5.9 percent from the prior week.
As compared to the same week in 2021, when the show moved nights due to NBA coverage on TNT, Dynamite was up 38.1 percent in overall viewers and up 40 percent in 18-49.
Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and individual demo ratings for Dynamite, along with the 10-week averages in all categories. This week’s show was down 17.7 percent in viewers and down 20 percent in 18-49 as compared to the recent averages.
