AEW Dynamite live results: Worlds End fallout

The International Championship will be defended on the first AEW Dynamite episode of 2024 tonight.
Orange Cassidy will put the International title on the line against Dante Martin in the first AEW title match of 2024 on tonight’s Dynamite. Dante Martin, Darius Martin, and Action Andretti defeated Cassidy, Trent Beretta, and Rocky Romero in a trios bout on last Friday’s Rampage to set up the title match.
After being revealed as the devil at Worlds End, Adam Cole is scheduled to explain “his shocking betrayal” of MJF on the show.
Fans will also hear from new AEW World Champion Samoa Joe tonight.
Mariah May will make her AEW in-ring debut on tonight’s episode against Queen Aminata.
In a late addition to the card, Darby Allin vs. Konosuke Takeshita is now advertised.
In a battle of Continental Classic competitors, Swerve Strickland will face Daniel Garcia on tonight’s episode as well. Swerve pinned Dustin Rhodes at Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view, while Garcia picked up a win in an eight-man tag at the PPV.
TNT Champion Christian Cage will also deliver a state of the union address on tonight’s show. Cage dropped the TNT title to Adam Copeland at Worlds End, but quickly regained the title after stealing Killswitch’s contract for a TNT title match earned earlier in the night in a battle royal and pinning Copeland.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with post match comments from new AEW World Champion Samoa Joe saying he’s not a man who makes predictions, but a man who keeps promises. Joe said after Grand Slam, MJF thought Joe would be just like every other scumbag, but what he did to Joe was turned around on Max. Joe showed up in front of MJF’s friends and family and took everything from him. MJF might be a scumbag, but Joe is a heartless son of a bitch. Joe will always take what is his, he is Samoa Joe, the AEW World Champion and he’ll take everything from everyone who tries to take the title from him.
Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as we hear the opening notes of Adam Cole’s entrance music, along with a long series of pyro before it cuts out and new music plays with Undisputed shown on the big screen. Cole, Wardlow, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett all make their way to the ring. Cole showed off The Devil mask before taking a seat.
The Undisputed Kingdom Is Born
Roderick Strong told the crowd to shut up and listen to his best friend ADAM! Cole asks why the crowd doesn’t have sympathy for him. Cole & his friends aren’t the bad guys for betraying MJF, the guy who has made more enemies than anyone in AEW. If that makes Cole The Devil, then buy him a first class ticket to Hell. The only person MJF cares about is MJF and it’s about time there’s a change, as most of the locker room will thank Cole some day. Cole said MJF is gone and he’s never coming back. Cole said he just beat MJF to the punch, as MJF needed Adam Cole, not the other way around. Cole broke his ankle for MJF, Better Than You Bay-Bay made the fans fall in love with MJF, he saved MJF’s title reign and also took it away. This is about ripping out a man’s heart and bringing him to his knees, MJF is dead.
Cole held The Devil mask and said what is alive is The Undisputed Kingdom, who has one goal in common, to win championship gold. Taven & Bennett are ROH Tag Team Champions, Strong, who will go after the International Title and Wardlow, who will be going for the AEW World Title. When Cole is all healed up, he’s going to have Wardlow do the right thing and forfeit the World Title to him. Wardlow nodded in agreement with a smirk on his face. Cole said he hopes Samoa Joe isn’t AEW World Champion when Wardlow climbs the ranks and takes the gold, as it would really suck to see Wardlow hurt a friend. AEW needed change and The Undisputed Kingdom gave it to us. The Devil is here to stay, Bay-Bay.
Switchblade Jay White interrupts on the stage and said he’s impressed that Cole hasn’t lost his edge, he’s a fan of what they did to little old MJF. What White doesn’t like is being made a catalyst in all of this and attack him when he’s all alone, which he’s not tonight. The Gunns made their way out and we have a brawl with Bullet Club Gold & The Undisputed Kingdom, until The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass hit the ring and chase off Cole, who hides behind AEW doctors, saying he’s not cleared. The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass have a stare down with White & The Gunns, who end up bailing.
Orange Cassidy defeated Dante Martin to retain the AEW International Title
(A fast paced back and forth opener to kick off AEW in ring action for 2024. Martin had his counters and high flying, but once Cassidy saw his chance, the Orange Punch was all she wrote. We got a nice ovation for the returning Private Party post match, who want to give the Tag Team division a shot in the arm in 2024, which, with the amount of talented teams on the roster, should hopefully be having a strong year with great matches, again, that’s hopefully.)
Cassidy tried took down Martin early by wrapping up the legs to keep the high flyer grounded. Martin put a stop to the hands in the pockets and got a test of strength, which led to a fast sequence ending in a series of pin attempts by the challenger until Cassidy regrouped outside. Cassidy baited Martin to the floor and hit a dive of his own, sending Martin face first against the barricade. Finally, Cassidy went to the pockets, ran around the whole ringside area and hit a shotgun dropkick. Cassidy wanted a suplex, but Martin reversed and connected with one to head to commercial.
After a long battle for a suplex, Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire, but Martin quickly answered with a Tope to the floor and springboard cross body back inside for two. Martin took a page from the Cassidy playbook and threw little chops and kicks, but ate a thrust kick by Cassidy for his troubles. Cassidy ramped up the kicks in the corner and hit the round the world DDT for two. Cassidy went up top, but was cut off by a springing Martin, who was shoved and backflipped off and planted with a diving DDT by Cassidy. Martin dodged the Orange Punch & Beach Break, countering into a pop up knee lift for a close near fall. Martin tried multiple times to go up top, but Cassidy continued to roll away, so Martin just rope walked and hit a splash for another two. Cassidy swung out of the full nelson slam for two, dodged a shotgun dropkick and connected on the Orange Punch to retain the title.
Post match, HOOK & Danhausen checked on Cassidy, who Darius Martin & Action Andretti attended to Dante, who shook hands with Cassidy. This was interrupted by Private Party, as Marq Quen is back with Isiah Kassidy, who said the Tag Team division has been lacking, missing flavor and excitement. Kassidy & Quen got in the ring and put every team on notice, including FTR, The Young Bucks & The Hardys.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Timeless Toni Storm and Luther, congratulating her on the victory at Worlds End. Storm said Paquette’s perfume is overwhelming and was disappointed this isn’t New York, but New Jersey. Storm is headed to Broadway and said she doesn’t watch wrestling, so Mariah May can pay her dues. Luther picked up Storm, who kicked a shoe over her head and exited.

-Video of The House of Black accepting FTR’s challenge to a match on Collision is shown. Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews burn a photo of Dax Harwood and his family and said once FTR loses, they’ll have to accept a family that truly loves them.
-Renee Paquette is backstage and welcomes Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana and asks about tonight’s main event against Daniel Garcia. Nana said Garcia is a respected competitor, but he’s getting into the ring with the Boss of the Bosses. Strickland said Garcia is getting this match tonight because Garcia is after the same thing Strickland was in 2023. Big pressure isn’t about making diamonds, it’s about making pain. Strickland said he was looking forward to going after MJF, but his body couldn’t hold up, so he told Samoa Joe to stay ready.
Mariah May defeated Queen Aminata
(The match itself was fine, but they put a commercial in the middle of it, which had multiple rest holds, so when things returned, the crowd didn’t seem into May. They did get behind Aminata during her comeback, but May winning was the only way to go here. The debuting Purrazzo immediately puts a new challenger in play for Toni Storm and May could be the first obstacle in her getting the title.)
May leveled Aminata with a slap and dished out chops in the ropes to open things, with a tilt a whirl head scissors to follow. A vicious charging dropkick connected flush, as Aminata was trapped in the ropes and dropkicked in the back.
It was all May during picture in picture, as Aminata avoided a corner head scissors and got her receipt by decking May with a slap to the face. A snap mare and punt kick to the spine got the fans behind Aminata, who connected on a running knee and multiple corner elbow strikes. Aminata went for a third, but May exploded out with a Sling Blade. May hit the sit out fireman’s carry slam called May Day for the victory.
Renee Paquette joined May in the ring, who said she wanted to a wrestler since she was a little kid, so it’s surreal she’s here tonight. May hopes that Toni Storm is watching and the New Year is All About Mariah. The only regret was they had to do this in New Jersey. The music for Deonna Purrazzo hit and the hometown Virtuosa came to the ring. Purrazzo said if Toni Storm doesn’t want to be here, then they don’t want her here either. Purrazzo told May to send a message to give to Storm, that being she will find her, she’s All Elite and this is the Age of the Virtuosa. May said she’s not the messanger and to tell Storm herself, b*tch, as she slapped Purrazzo, who clobbered May and sent her packing.

Christian Cage’s State of the Union
Cage came out with Killswitch and Nick & Shayna Wayne, as Tony Schiavone talked about Cage losing and regaining his TNT Title within minutes at Worlds End. Shayna said the crowd need to get on their feet and show respect to the greatest TNT Champion who has ever lived, their Father, The Patriarch. Cage said it’s been 200 days since he’s won the TNT Title on the debut episode of Collision. Schiavone went to correct him, but Cage told him to shut up or Shayna will put him over her knee and discipline him. Cage said he has a few people to thank for his victory at Worlds End. Mother Wayne for being the vision, as a Mother’s work is never done. Next up, the apple of his eye, his boy, Nick Wayne, who selflessly put his body on the line, despite Copeland trying to end the career of an 18 year old prodigy. Lastly, Cage would like to thank the person who made it all happen, himself.
Killswitch looked annoyed as Luchasaurus chants rang out from the crowd. Cage said he’s 2-0 against Adam Copeland, as it’s back of the line for him. Cage said this was a warning to Copeland and anyone else who wants a shot at the TNT Title; this was just the tip of the iceberg of what he’s willing to do. Cage screamed at the crowd that the name isn’t Luchasaurus, it’s Killswitch. Cage will be TNT Champion until he’s ready to hand it off to Nick Wayne, they’ll be TNT Champion now and forever.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Ruby Soho, Harley Cameron & Saraya, who said Cameron is dedicated to this role in helping Soho, as shown by Soho’s victory this past week on Rampage. Cameron said she’s willing to do anything, as Saraya said she’d be helpful, not sane. Soho walked off and Saraya told Cameron not to make it obvious and didn’t answer Paquette, who asked what that meant.
Konosuke Takeshita defeated Darby Allin
(I sure hope we get this match again down the line as these two tore it up. This was a statement win for Takeshita, who needs to be doing something other than tag squashes with other Callis Family members, so I’m hopeful this is the start, it certainly needs to be.)
Don Callis joined commentary, as Takeshita absolutely rag dolled Allin out the gate. Both men dodged corner charges until a head scissors into a wild overhead German saw Allin land on his feet into a stare down. A massive back drop from Takeshita was answered by an arm drag that sent Takeshita to the floor. Allin sprinted for a dive, but Takeshita hit a pumping knee in mid air before dragging Allin up the ramp for a rolling release German suplex, which was tremendous.
Takeshita wanted an Avalance Crunchy when picture in picture returned, but Allin countered into an over the top cutter and running somersault Tope to the floor. Back inside, Allin wanted a Code Red, but this time Takeshtia countered into the Crunchy for a close two. Allin rolled to the floor and dodged the charging knee, as Takeshita lowered the knee pad and charged, colliding with the barricade. Takeshita clutched his knee and Callis fanned his client until Allin flew in with a Coffin Drop off the top to the floor. Takeshita just broke the count, but rolled right into a Code Red for two. Allin wanted a Coffin Drop, but Takeshita got the knees up and sold the injured one from earlier in the match.
Multiple overhead Germans connected, as Allin caught a flash cradle and crucifix for two, but ultimately ran into a lariat that turned him inside out. Callis signaled for the kill as a Helluva Kick connected followed by an Avalanche German Suplex off the top. Allin called for more as Takeshita hit the Power Drive Knee to win it.

-Renee Paquette (who is really earning her paycheck tonight with the amount of interviews she’s been conducting) approached the Don Callis Family celebrating backstage. Callis said next week, Daily’s Place, where it all started, they’re challenging the 25-0 Sting to a tag match with Darby Allin to take on Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs. They will make Sting 25-1.
Trent Beretta defeated Brian Cage, El Hijo del Vikingo (w/Alex Abrahantes) & Bryan Keith to earn a Continental Title match on Collision
(Beretta’s great at winning scramble matches to earn title shots, he won a TNT Title match not that long ago and now gets the first Continental Title match this Saturday on Collision. This was a party match filled with action, as everyone got in their big moves, it was Beretta who was in the right place at the right time and stood victorious.)
Eddie Kingston joined commentary and told Taz he has heat with him for not inviting Kingston over for gabagool during the holidays. Cage showed off his power early, but Vikingo answered with his speed and dive about 20 seconds into the match. Keith & Beretta slugged it out before a big boot sent Beretta to the floor. Vikingo flew in with a moonsault arm drag and head scissors until Cage appeared and countered a sunset flip into an overhead throw. Beretta dodged a ripcord into a jump knee and suplex that led to a slingshot dive of his own onto Cage. Danhausen is shown sitting in the front row and distracted Beretta enough for Cage to hit a brainbuster on the floor that took us to picture in picture.
Vikingo popped Cage with a roundhouse kick and springboard dropkick to follow, as a charging double knees led to Vikingo going up top, but Keith was there to cut things off with a lifting headbutt. Vikingo tumbled outside, as Cage wanted a superplex on Keith, but Beretta ran in with an overhead German and running knee on Cage, but Vikingo flew in with a 450 to break the count. Cage spun out of a double arm underhook and laid out Keith with a F-5 before hitting multiple powerbombs on Beretta for two. Dahnausen hit the ring and was going to curse Cage, when the match broke down and Vikingo laid out Cage with a moonsault to the floor. Danhausen celebrated, as I guess the curse worked. Back in the ring, Keith connected on a charging uppercut headbutt on Beretta for two, tried a Tiger Driver, which Beretta countered into a Crunchy for the win.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Daddy Magic Matt Menard, who will be on commentary for tonight’s main event when Hangman Adam Page walked in with his bags. Page said he’s here to beat somebody’s ass and if it can’t be Samoa Joe, it’ll be Adam Cole, if not Cole, it’ll be anyone. Page storms off, as he arrived to the arena with 15 minutes left on the show, not much time left to find someone’s ass to kick.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated Daniel Garcia
(This was an excellent main event featuring two of the top young stars who will hopefully be heavily featured in 2024 for AEW. Even in defeat, Garcia put up one hell of a fight, kicking out of the Swerve Stomp, but Strickland had too many options in his arsenal. Right as Strickland was about to make his intentions known for the AEW Title, Hangman Page is there to make sure his rival doesn’t get such moment.)
It was a game of one-up from the start, as Strickland got an early takedown, but Garcia dared him to go to the mat, resulting in Garcia getting the upper hand. A kitchen sink knee sent Strickland to the floor, where Garcia sent him crashing into the barricade. Nana got in the face of Garcia and we were graced with a dance battle between the two, as Strickland tried to put a stop to it, taking Garcia to the apron. Strickland took the ref and Nana distracted Garcia long enough for Strickland to hit a pump kick and Death Valley Driver on the edge of the ring into commercial.
It was all Strickland during break, turning Garcia inside out with another pump kick. Strickland mocked the Garcia dance, but it only woke up Garcia, who hulked up with punches in bunches. A running corner knee and shotgun dropkick led to a Saito Suplex for two. Strickland responded with a leg trapped backbreaker and spinning sitout reverse DDT for two of his own. Strickland got in the face of Matt Menard at the commentary table, as Garcia swarmed Strickland clearing off the table, trying for a Dragon Tamer, but both men fell off the table. Back in the ring, Garcia hit a superplex, but Strickland held on and hit a suplex for the double down.
Garcia escaped a waist lock with a violent knee to the face, but Strickland answered with a rolling Flatliner and House Call for a very close two. Strickland connected on the Swerve Stomp, but Garcia managed to kick out. Strickland was stunned, as Garcia got a desperation roll up for two, but Strickland got up; hit another House Call and the JML Driver for the win.
Post match, Strickland went to shake Garcia’s hand, but Nana hit a low blow from behind. Menard hit the ring to fight for his friend, but suffered the same fate, as Prince Nana was about to say Strickland is going to be the next AEW World Champion when Hangman Adam Page’s music hit and he came to the ring for a faceoff with Strickland before a slugfest ensued. Security and officials ran to the ring to separate the two with each man breaking free to end the show.
