AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as Wild Thing plays and out walks Jon Moxley from the crowd to kick off the show.

Moxley said his career has been a crazy ride, never knowing what’s around the corner, as three certainties, death, taxes & Jon Moxley. He said no one can outwork him and remains the top of the AEW food chain. Moxley said no man has the balls to tell him any different, as the music of Hangman Page hit to the surprise of fans and Page hit the ring to have a face off.

Moxley asks if Page remembers what happened last time and Page immediately dropped Moxley and started a brawl. Excalibur said that Page had yet to be cleared by doctors. Referees and security tried to separate the two, were unsuccessful at first, as Moxley sprinted up the ramp to get in more shots and fell off the stage a bit for a moment as both were taken to the back before our opening contest.

Bryan Danielson defeated Dax Harwood

(An amazing first time singles meeting between these fine athletes. I was anxiously awaiting this as soon as it was announced a few days ago and to the shock of no one, it delivered big time.)

Harwood countered the ground game and strikes early by Danielson, as these two had This Is Awesome chants before even locking up. Each man countered a LeBell Lock and Sharpshooter respectively before Danielson hit an up kick to the face. Danielson lit up Harwood in the corner with strikes, did his moonsault out of the corner, but Harwood got an O’Connor Roll into a cross body off the second for a near fall. Danielson low bridged Harwood to the floor where he smacked his hip on the edge of the ring, as a follow up tope by Danielson sent Harwood into the front row. Right as they went to commercial, Harwood hit a suplex into the crowd on Danielson.

Danielson broke the count and Harwood stayed on the attack with strikes and three rolling German suplexes. Harwood briefly went up top, but thought otherwise, as a series of reversals led to a perfect piledriver by Harwood for two. Harwood missed a top rope headbutt, as Danielson hit his signature running knee off the apron to the floor. Harwood went for a superplex, but Danielson crotched him, hit anvil elbows and a back superplex, which Harwood rolled through, as did Danielson for two.

Both men rolled to their knees and started headbutting each other before both started no selling lariats until both started getting spaghetti legs. Each tried a home run shot and both collapsed simultaneously. Harwood blocked a home run kick, tried his slingshot powerbomb, but Danielson rolled through into a high kick. Danielson hit his kicks, went for a Busiaku knee, but Harwood countered into his slingshot powerbomb into a Sharpshooter. They did a crazy amount of inside cradle counters until Danielson sank in the LeBell Lock and Harwood tapped. Harwood faked not shaking Danielson’s hand post match, but was just kidding and they showed respect.

-Backstage Ricky Starks is with Tony Schiavone and Starks said he is entering himself in the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal next week as he wants to take MJF’s diamond ring and then the World Title because he is absolute. This is confusing because the winner of the battle royal gets a World Title shot whenever they want. So if Starks wins, he gets two shots? Since he already has a shot at Winter is Coming.

-Back from break, Hangman Page is being escorted from the building, but Jon Moxley runs in and the brawl continues with Page chucking Moxley into the garage door.

-Renee Paquette is on a soundstage in Nashville, TN sitting between Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Matt Menard, Jeff Parker and Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta. Menard runs his mouth immediately and Renee tells him to shut up. Hager tossed Castagnoli his own purple hat and said he can wear that when he joins the Jericho Appreciation Society. Castagnoli storms out, as Yuta & Garcia verbally go back and forth. Garcia & Hager vs. Castagnoli & Yuta is made for next week and Garcia defending his ROH Pure Title against Yuta at Final Battle is made official.

TNT & ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defeated AR Fox to defend the TNT Title

(This match unfortunately suffered being in picture in picture, as we only got about 2 minutes of the actual match outside of that. It was fun from what we got, though.)

Fox did a handspring enzugiri that sent Joe to the outside, went for a dive, but Joe side stepped. Joe thought he outsmarted Fox, who landed on his feet and hit a pump kick. Back inside, Joe immediately took control with strikes and running senton. Joe controlled the entire commercial until Fox mounted his comeback, as he fought out of the corner with a leaping DDT.

Fox hit a low cutter and top rope 450 splash for a near fall. Fox went up top again, but Joe side stepped a somersault dive and launched Fox with a Pounce into the ropes. Joe hit a Muscle Buster and got the win.

Post match, Joe declared himself the King of Television before Wardlow interrupted on the big screen and said he’s coming for what is his, this is Wardlow’s World.

-We get another video package highlighting the journey of Powerhouse Hobbs.

-Taz shows us highlights of HOOK defending the FTW Title against Lee Moriarty and how he countered Moriarty into Red Rum at Full Gear.

AEW World Champion MJF Speaks For The First Time

(What I thought was an overlong talking segment turned into something I didn’t really see coming, nor did anyone else. Once MJF did what he did, the crowd was dead silent and shocked. There was rumors about Regal’s contract status in AEW this past week, this was definitely a way to write him off for a while.)

William Regal made his way to the ring, as Excalibur mentions how Jon Moxley is out of the building; now Regal comes slithering in to introduce the new AEW World Champion, MJF, who threw his gum at a little girl.

MJF explains how he & Regal’s union came to fruition. Regal e-mailed MJF after The Firm attacked him and said MJF had become weak, but he’s willing to help him learn how to become a true villain. He shouldn’t grab the Dynamite Diamond ring, but the brass one. Regal wanted MJF to use the brass knucks and leave Moxley with an emotional scar when he was outsmarted by MJF. He said he respects The Firm, who smelled blood in the water, but he’s not going to chase them down, as effort is for poors.

Whenever MJF said the AEW title is tacky, needs an upgrade and no former champion is on his level. MJF threw the old belt down and Regal presented him with the Triple B, the Big Burberry Belt, as the leather is in the design of his Burberry scarf. MJF runs down Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks and fake wrestlers like Bryan Danielson. MJF said Regal tried with Danielson, but some people just can’t be helped. MJF will be champion until the bidding war of 2024 and the title will be a bargaining chip. MJF mentions Nick Khan & his boy Trips as being bidders, but also mentions Hollywood calling.

MJF said the fans who cheered him winning the title are fickle and will complain just like everyone else. MJF referenced how his reign will be longer than Hulk Hogan; JBL & Jeff Jarrett’s and said his reign will cause Bruno Sammartino to roll in his grave.

MJF turns and thanks Regal for what he did for him and then attacked Regal with brass knuckles to the back of the head to stun the crowd and commentary. MJF said Regal told him he had a lot to learn, but it was Regal who made a deal with the devil. MJF quoted Regal’s message to him years ago and said when Regal is ready, to send him his stuff. MJF left through the crowd and Bryan Danielson sprinted to the ring with doctors, who loaded Regal on a stretcher to almost dead silence.

Before the next match begins, Stokely Hathaway & Ethan Page come out with Matt Hardy, who poses for the crowd. Hathaway told Hardy, whose contract he owns along with Private Party, to get to the back, as Ethan Page told Hardy he’s going to help him win the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal next week. Page said he’s calling his shot and will beat whoever wins between Starks & MJF.

Ricky Starks defeated Ari Daivari

Starks was attacked from behind, but quickly his a Spear and Roshambo for the lightning quick win.

-Backstage Tony Schiavone is with AEW World Champion Jamie Hayter, Britt Baker & Rebel. Hayter said since Saraya is having a sit down with Renee Paquette next week, Hayter will have a sit down with Tony Schiavone. That was literally it.

Willow Nightingale defeated Anna Jay A.S. (w/Tay Melo)

(Crowd was firmly behind Willow in this one, as hopefully this is a start to her climbing her way up the women’s ranks.)

Nightingale showed off her power early with shoulder tackles, short arm lariat and low cross body for two. Nightingale missed a corner charge, as Jay hit a spin kick and Blockbuster to gain control during commercial. Both ladies traded forearms until Nightingale hit a corner splash, big boot and spinebuster for a near fall. Jay hit a back kick and nasty slam, but Nightingale kicked out with the crowd vocally behind her. Nighingale got out of Queen Slayer, knocked Melo off the apron and ultimately flattened Jay with a Doctor Bomb for the win.

As Melo was helping Jay to her feet, Ruby Soho’s music hit and she was standing behind Melo, who broke Soho’s nose a few months back. Melo tried to bail, but Soho hit Destination Unknown on the ramp, as Taz sang along with her theme like only he can.

-Video highlighting the return of the House of Black last week is shown before Tony Schiavone is backstage with QT Marshall & Orange Cassidy. Marshall wants a shot at the All-Atlantic title on Rampage in a Lumberjack Match and Cassidy interrupts him, accepting.

Jade Cargill Championship Celebration

Cargill came out with Red Velvet & Leyla Gray to confetti, balloons and cake. Cargill said she’s the brightest star AEW has and she puts asses in seats. Cargill creates careers and calls Lil’ Bow Wow a joke, as he showed up on the big screen. He said he’s done with touring and said he’d see Cargill soon. This was it and got crickets from the crowd.

The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa) defeated AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle (PAC & Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) w/Alex Abrahantes) to win Match 3 of the Best of 7 Series and make it 2-1

(This had a different feel to the first two matches of this series, as it was brawling heavy in the first half before things really ramped up the second half. The hammer helped Death Triangle to go up in the series, but it is slowly becoming their downfall if they keep relying on it.)

The Elite wasted no time attacking Death Triangle at the ramp before the bell. PAC was sent face first into the entrance and Omega hit him with a Kotaro Crusher. The Bucks held PAC for a charging Omega V-Trigger down the ramp, but PAC countered with a superkick and Lucha Bros took out the Bucks with somersault Cutters. All six men brawled all over the entrance area, PAC hitting a moonsault off the stage and The Bucks hitting Penta & Fenix with dueling powerbombs on the edge of the apron as the match official began. Rick Knox immediately was flattened with a superkick by Matt Jackson, as Penta wiped The Elite out with a somersault dive.

Alex Abrahantes handed Penta the hammer again, but Fenix tried to put a stop to it, as Penta shoved his brother. Omega took out Fenix with a V-Trigger, as Penta ate a double superkick and Snap Dragon before Omega nailed a Kamigoye. The Elite had miscommunication by hitting Omega with a double corner kick, as Death Triangle hit triple dives and Penta hit Omega with Fear Factor for two. Superkick Party from Matt led to locomotion Northern Lights before PAC wiped him out. Omega & PAC fought in the corner before PAC hit a headbutt with his protective mask and avalanche falcon arrow for two.

Omega was isolated for the commercial break until PAC hit a snap German, which Omega no sold into a lariat before collapsing. Fenix & Nick made the tag and went a mile a minute with their offense as Nick hit a cazadora cutter for two. Fenix tried a double cross body on The Bucks, who caught him and hit More Bang for Your Buck to get a close near fall. PAC & Penta put a stop to the BTE Trigger, as Omega fought them both off until Fenix flew in with a rolling Cutter. The double stomp Fear Factor on Nick connected, Lucha Bros took out Omega & Matt outside and PAC got a two count on Nick after a brainbuster. Lucha Bros held Nick & Omega from making the save as PAC went for Black Arrow, but Matt got his knees up and rolled up PAC for the win. Omega said post match there wasn’t going to be a sweep with The Cleaner involved and said his Goodbye and Goodnight to cap off the show.
