AEW Dynamite live results: Samoa Joe vs. Minoru Suzuki ROH TV title match
Seven matches have been announced for tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
NJPW’s Minoru Suzuki will defend the ROH World Television Championship against Samoa Joe. Suzuki captured the title at ROH Supercard of Honor earlier this month.
After issuing an open challenge on Twitter, CM Punk will face Penta Oscuro on tonight’s show.
The AEW World Tag Team titles will be on the line, with Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus defending against Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.
Making her AEW television debut, Marina Shafir will face Skye Blue in a women’s division contest.
MJF will take on Captain Shawn Dean in a rematch.
“Limitless” Keith Lee and Isaiah “Swerve” Strickland will tag against Team Taz’s Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks.
Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, and Jake Hager will face Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz in a trios match.
AEW has announced that tonight’s show will also have an overrun, stretching past the usual 10 p.m. Eastern end time.

Show Report —
“Cult of Personality” kicked off the show.
CM Punk defeated Penta Oscuro (w/ Alex Abrahantes)
This was a strong back-and-forth opener.
They got in each other’s faces and had a fun chop and strike battle to start. Penta hit a thrust kick but Punk came back and took him down. Penta returned fire with sling blades for two. Punk avoided a baseball slide and landed a tope suicida before a commercial break.
Once back, Punk went for a top-rope frankensteiner but slipped on the top rope and clutched at his knee. Penta kept up the attack as Punk couldn’t put any pressure on the knee. Punk blocked a strike and came back with the top-rope frankensteiner. He followed it up with his corner rising knee, but Penta fought out of a GTS attempt.
Penta looked to snap Punk’s arm, but Punk turned it into the Anaconda Vise. Penta reached the ropes to escape and they fought on the apron. Punk escaped the Fear Factor and landed a high kick followed by a springboard clothesline. The rising knee and short-arm clothesline followed.
Punk called for the GTS, but Penta blocked it and went for the Fear Factor. Punk escaped but was hit with an enzuigiri, allowing the two men to trade cradles. Penta landed a thrust kick, but Punk caught a springboard and hit the GTS for the win.

Jericho Appreciation Society was shown arriving at a local airfield and departing their plane. Eddie Kingston and co. showed up in a vehicle, said it was “on sight,” and left 2point0 laying behind them.

AEW World Tag Team Championships: Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (c) (w/ Christian Cage) defeated reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish)
This was another great match with a hot crowd who believed in the possibility of a title change.
Jungle Boy and Fish paired off before Luchasaurus and O’Reilly did the same. Luchasaurus took two dragon screws, one leveraged over the ropes, to allow reDRagon to take control. O’Reilly ran into a Luchasaurus knee, with the latter reaching Jungle Boy for a tag. Jungle Boy hit the rebound lariat before landing multiple suicide dives. reDRagon avoided a third, but Luchasaurus took them out with an apron moonsault. Jungle Boy then wiped out Fish with a tope con giro.
reDRagon regained control when Jungle Boy tried to re-enter the ring, using the ropes to target his limbs ahead of a break. Upon return, Jungle Boy used his agility to escape to Luchasaurus for the hot tag. Luchasaurus ran wild on both of reDRagon with strikes and repeated corner splashes. He hit a double chokeslam followed by a standing moonsault for a near fall.
Jungle Boy tagged in and they hit an elbow drop side slam combo for a near fall. Fish got a blind tag and reDRagon hit a DDT into a German suplex for two. O’Reilly locked on a cross armbreaker, but Jungle Boy reached the ropes for a break. Jungle Boy and O’Reilly fought on the top rope, and Luchasaurus wanted the Doomsday Device, but O’Reilly turned it into a guillotine and Fish hit an avalanche falcon arrow, forcing Luchasaurus to break up the pin.
O’Reilly laid in a strike combination on Luchasaurus leading to a parade of big moves. Luchasaurus hit the Tail Whip on Fish, then Jungle Boy hit the Thoracic Express for the win.
– After the match, O’Reilly attacked the champions with a chair. FTR came out and held up their belts, exchanging looks with both reDRagon and the champions.

Blackpool Combat Club, including Wheeler YUTA, were backstage. They will face the Gunn Club in a trios match. Gunn Club are 24-0. Danielson said he’s fired up because YUTA’s fighting alongside them for the first time. Moxley doesn’t like the Gunn Club, so they’ll break their faces. YUTA closed by saying “On Friday, the real work begins.”

Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm were backstage, and they will face off in the first round of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Hayter said she’s happy that’s the case, because this is her crowning moment in AEW. Storm just walked away without saying anything.

Capt. Shawn Dean defeated MJF (w/ Shawn Spears) via countout
MJF couldn’t unzip his jacket as his scarf was stuck to his zipper. It was a ruse to attack Dean from behind. The cameras cut backstage with security laid out. MJF was concerned for a moment, but resumed beating down Dean.
Wardlow appeared behind MJF in the stands with an AEW staff shirt and mask on. He chased MJF up the ramp, and Spears hit him with a chair, which Wardlow barely felt. Security ran down to stop Wardlow, but Wardlow ran through them until a crew of a dozen finally restrained him.
The official was counting MJF out, but the crew of security meant MJF couldn’t get into the ring. MJF got a mic and implored Bryce Remsburg not to count to ten, saying he’d triple his pay, but Remsburg shrugged it off, leading to Dean’s countout victory.
– After the match, MJF got in Remsburg’s face and shoved him, but Spears broke it up.
The cameras cut backstage again, where Wardlow was still beating people up, and he demanded that MJF release him from his contract.

Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, & Daniel Garcia) defeated Eddie Kingston, Santana, & Ortiz
Santana and Jericho started off. The former took the latter down as the two teams brawled on the outside. Ortiz and Hager paired off, and a powerslam from Hager allowed J.A.S. to take control ahead of the commercial. Once back, Ortiz got some space, was briefly cut off by Garcia, but finally escaped to reach Kingston for the hot tag.
Kingston dispatched his opponents on the apron before hitting a double underhook suplex. Santana hit the three amigos suplexes followed by a frog splash for two. Ortiz tagged in and kept up the attack as Kingston took out Hager with a suicide dive. Ortiz just tossed Garcia into Jericho as Santana landed a dive on Hager. 2point0 ran down, but Ortiz wiped them out with another flip dive.
Garcia was alone in the ring and Kingston tagged in, hitting an exploder suplex. Garcia avoided the spinning backfist and Jericho hit Kingston from behind with Floyd the Bat as Garcia covered Kingston for the win.

– After the match, J.Y.S. continued to beat down Kingston and company. Jericho hit Santana with a Judas Effect as they stood tall to end the segment.

MJF, Shawn Spears, and Mark Sterling were backstage. MJF was out of his mind. He said he doesn’t need our sympathy because he has money, and that’s what makes the world go around. Sterling said MJF has the right to book Wardlow against anyone he chooses, so MJF booked him against the Butcher.

Marina Shafir defeated Skye Blue
The crowd was absolutely silent for this. This died.
Shafir took Blue down with a judo throw and picked her up for a slam. Blue wanted a DDT, but Shafir turned it into a bear hug and planted her. Blue fought back in vain, with Shafir shrugging everything off and hitting an overhead throw. Shafir caught a thrust kick and applied a triangle for the quick win.

HOOK was “interviewed” earlier today. Tony Nese and Mark Sterling walked up and interrupted. Nese resents HOOK. Danhausen showed up but wasn’t able to curse Danhausen. That was short, but very strange.

Dan Lambert and the Men of the Year were backstage. They called out Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti. It will be Sky vs. Guevara for the TNT title at Battle of the Belts.

Team Taz (Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs) defeated Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland
This was the third great match of the night. Starks was crazy popular.
Hobbs and Swerve started off, with the former establishing his power advantage using a fallaway slam. The hometown boy Starks tagged in to a big reaction, hitting an Undertaker-style Old School and taking Swerve down with a powerslam. Swerve came back with a tijeras and a dropkick, allowing Lee to tag in.
Lee sent both Hobbs and Starks to the outside and Swerve launched himself off Lee’s chest to take out Team Taz with a moonsault ahead of the commercial. During the break, Team Taz regained control, but a dropkick from Swerve allowed him to reach Lee for the hot tag once back.
Team Taz tried to cut off Lee’s run of offense, but Lee performed a great leapfrog and bieled Starks into his own partner. A combo discus forearm from Lee and Swerve got two. Starks countered a rolling cutter into a spear and hit a flipping DDT for a good near fall.
Swerve tossed Starks into a Lee pounce for two, then Lee and Hobbs got in each other’s face. Starks used the distraction to hit an enzuigiri. Lee countered the Roshambo as Taz walked to ringside. Hobbs broke up a doomsday device but was sent into the ring post.
Lee perched Starks on the top rope, who came back with a diving spear. Starks covered but was hit with a 450 splash from Swerve. Taz tripped up Lee and Hobbs hit the spinebuster for the win.

ROH Television Championship: Samoa Joe defeated Minoru Suzuki (c) to win the title
Not sure I’ve ever seen an American wrestling television show with four legitimately great matches on it.
You’ll never believe it, but they started off chopping the hell out of each other. Crowd completely bought into everything — this match had such a hot start. Joe especially was ridiculously fired up. They eventually moved onto trading forearms until Joe leveled Suzuki with a shoulder tackle. Suzuki recovered on the apron and baited Joe into an armbar over the ropes, allowing him to earn the advantage before commercial.
During the break, Joe regained control and had Suzuki in a crossface upon return. Suzuki escaped and returned fire with a soccer kick for two. He teased the Gotch-style piledriver but instead opted for one more chop battle. Suzuki baited Joe into a modified choke, but Joe broke it with a side slam.
Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt were shown at ringside. Suzuki came back with a running dropkick and wanted the Gotch piledriver, but Joe powered out. Joe perched Suzuki on the top rope and wanted the Muscle Buster, but Suzuki tried to turn it into an armbar. Joe powered out and hit the Muscle Buster to win the match and the championship.
– After the match, Lethal and Dutt said they had a surprise for Joe. It was nothing, as they mocked Joe, but the lights went out in the arena. In the ring appeared Satnam Singh, the seven foot-plus former basketball player, making his television debut. Singh laid out Joe and worked together with Lethal and Dutt, applying a vise grip hold to Joe’s skull. Lethal hit the Lethal Injection, and he and his lackeys posed as the show went off the air at three past the top of the hour.
