AEW Dynamite live results: PAC returns, World title contract signing

A Jon Moxley-Kenny Omega contract signing for their December 2 AEW World title match highlights this evening’s AEW Dynamite.

Moxley and Omega have faced each other just once previously in AEW at Full Gear 2019 in an unsanctioned Lights Out match. Moxley won that contest.

The announced main event for the show is TNT Champion Darby Allin and Cody Rhodes teaming against Team Taz’s Brian Cage and Ricky Starks.

The Young Bucks will return to the ring for the first time since winning the AEW World Tag Team titles at Full Gear 2020 on November 7. They will face Top Flight (Darius Martin & Daunte Martin).

PAC will return to action for the first time since the March 11 edition of Dynamite as he takes on The Blade.

In a match that was set up in a backstage promo segment last week, Orange Cassidy (w/Best Friends) will face Kip Sabian (w/Penelope Ford & Miro).

NWA World Women’s Champion Serena Deeb will defend her title against former champ Thunder Rosa.

A trip to Las Vegas by The Inner Circle on MJF’s dime has also been advertised.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

A Top Flight video package aired with lots of footage from their independent appearances. They came across as star-struck and thrilled, which probably isn’t far from the truth.

The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) defeated Top Flight (Darius Martin & Daunte Martin)

Top Flight had a really good first performance on Dynamite. They’re rough around the edges, but they’re phenomenal athletes, particularly Daunte.

This was non-title. The action here was too fast to keep track of. Nick and Darius started off as the latter countered Nick’s usual opening sequence of offense. Matt and Daunte tagged in and Top Flight hit stereo kicks before kicking Nick off the apron. Top Flight looked for a dive, but backflipped off the ropes.

Nick got a blind tag and downed Daunte with a superkick. Matt hit a dropkick through the ropes on Darius before the Bucks isolated Daunte with frequent tags. Matt locked on a sharpshooter then powerbombed Daunte onto his brother.

The Bucks set up for the Meltzer Driver, but Daunte fought out and made a one-man comeback before reaching his brother for the hot tag. Darius hit clotheslines and a Spanish fly, but Nick broke up the tag. Darius hit a tope suicida and then Daunte hit a tope con hilo on both Bucks.

Daunte barely made it up for a flip into a top-rope frankensteiner for a near fall. Matt avoided a dive and nailed a spear. Nick tagged in, dispatched Darius with a kick, and the Bucks hit a Sliced Bread powerbomb combination before Darius broke up the pin.

The Bucks went for More Bang For Your Buck, but Daunte countered into a crucifix pin for a great near fall. The Bucks then hit the BTE Trigger for the win.

After the match, TH2 came out and beat down Top Flight, but the Bucks chased them off and raised Top Flight’s arms.

The Inner Circle Slays Vegas

This was all hijinks. MJF kept trying to buddy up with Chris Jericho and Santana, while Sammy Guevara and Ortiz resisted his charms. Jake Hager and Wardlow never took their eyes off each other. MJF and Jericho competed to see who could order the most alcoholic drink.

Konnan appeared and he and the Inner Circle departed a smoke-filled car. Piff The Dragon was there. We were left with a “to be continued…” message.

A commercial for AEW’s upcoming collaboration with Director X aired.

Jon Moxley cut a promo. He wondered how he was able to have such a long championship, and he chalked it up to his dad’s advice. Moxley’s got the whole world bearing down on him, a broken body and a pregnant wife, but he remembers his dad reminding him that they’re “the good guys.” He’s the best wrestler in the world and his dad’s son.

The newsworthy portion was that Renee Paquette is pregnant, but Moxley’s promo was excellent as always.

Orange Cassidy (w/ Best Friends) defeated Kip Sabian (w/ Penelope Ford)

Miro joined commentary. It was all Sabian early on. Sabian prevented Cassidy from putting his hands in his pockets and controlled him with a side headlock. Cassidy made his hands-in-pockets comeback and hit a tope suicida.

Ford tried to stop Cassidy from getting back in the ring, and Sabian took advantage with a kick and a gutbuster for two. Ford taunted Cassidy on the floor as Sabian continued his beatdown during the break.

They fought on the top rope before Cassidy pushed Sabian off and landed a crossbody. Cassidy missed a diving DDT, but was able to eventually hit it after a reversal exchange. Sabian rolled to the outside to avoide the Orange Punch and stumbled on a springboard, but they improvised well as Sabian hit a brainbuster and a soccer kick for a two. A Michinoku driver followed for a good near fall.

Cassidy countered out of a swinging neckbreaker with an inside cradle, then locked on the Mouse Trap for the pinfall.

Miro laid out Cassidy after the match, but the Best Friends chased him and Sabian away before celebrating with their hug.

The December 2 edition of Dynamite, which will feature Moxley vs. Omega, is being billed as “Winter Is Coming.”

Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega AEW World Championship contract signing

Omega made his elaborate entrance, but Moxley didn’t come out when his music played. It cut to backstage where a bloodied Moxley was being attended to by Doc Sampson. Omega was unfazed as he signed the contract.

What a bizarre segment.

The Inner Circle Slays Vegas (Part 2)

The Inner Circle were all drunk. Jericho welcomed an Elvis impersonator as the newest member of the Inner Circle. MJF said he loves the Inner Circle like blood brothers, but Guevara took it literally and threatened to cut himself. MJF noted that it was a full moon, and they all howled.

Jericho woke up the next morning in bed with Elvis. MJF woke up in the bathtub. He approached Guevara and was shown to have Guevara’s writing all over his face. Santana was hanging out with chickens who apparently made him money the previous night.

They heard crying in another room. The crying was coming from Swoggle, who was dressed in a diaper, referencing The Hangover movies.

Back to Dynamite, Jericho joined commentary and announced that he and Hager would face SCU on next week’s show.

PAC defeated The Blade (w/ The Butcher & The Bunny)

Eddie Kingston joined commentary. This was Blade’s first one-on-one match in his AEW career, and he surprisingly controlled the majority of the match. It went longer than I expected, but PAC looked like a killer when he was on top in addition to overcoming the numbers disadvantage.

PAC leveled Blade right at the bell and beat him down with stomps. He sent Blade into the barricade and hit a missile dropkick back in the ring. PAC confronted Butcher and Blade took advantage with a baseball slide.

Blade hit a release brainbuster, which PAC landed awkwardly on. PAC went for a slingshot DDT but the move didn’t quite hit like he wanted. Bunny grabbed PAC’s leg and Butcher attacked from behind as Blade distracted the official. Blade hit a gutwrench powerbomb for two.

After a break, PAC fired up with forearms and a pump kick. He hit a thrust kick but Blade hit a powerslam for two. They fought on the top rope, and PAC won the exchange after a superplex.

Bunny distracted PAC from hitting the Black Arrow and Butcher tried to attack, but PAC dispatched him. Blade rolled him up with a handful of tights for a good near fall. PAC kicked out, hit a shooting star press, and immediately applied the Brutalizer for the submission victory.

After the match, PAC grabbed a mic and addressed Kingston, but Butcher laid him out. Butcher and Blade beat PAC down as Kingston taunted him. Rey Fénix ran out and tried to make the save, solidifying his split from Kingston, but Butcher, Blade, and Kingston were too much for him.

Penta El Zero Miedo came out with a steel chair and teased attacking his brother before lunging towards Kingston and sending Butcher and Blade packing. PAC and the Lucha Bros celebrated as Fénix made a triangle gesture, signifying that the Death Triangle are back.

Schiavone sent it to the back as they got word of an altercation. Jade Cargill was beating up Brandi Rhodes with Vickie Guerrero and Nyla Rose before Big Swole appeared to break it up.

NWA Women’s World Championship: Serena Deeb (c) defeated Thunder Rosa

Despite the interference, this was a good championship match. They performed some really solid chain wrestling early on. Rosa gained the advantage after an arm drag and a senton. She hit a hip attack onto the apron, but Deeb caught her upon re-entry and hit a dragon screw to take control.

The announcers mentioned the NWA and Billy Corgan. Rosa fought back with a drop toe hold and repeated corner lariats. Deeb hit a neckbreaker over the ropes and an apron spear. Rosa fought out of a GTS and nailed a German suplex. She landed a missile dropkick, sending Deeb to the outside.

Rebel came out and distracted the referee as Dr. Britt Baker laid out Rosa. Deeb landed a powerbomb for a good near fall. They exchanged cradles before Deeb applied a Koji Clutch. Rosa fought out with a double stomp and they went to another cradle exchange before Deeb hit a modified Angel’s Wings for the three count.

Rosa attacked Baker after the match as the referee corps had to break up the fight.

The Dark Order’s John Silver and Anna Jay talked backstage. It was revealed that Mr. Brodie Lee demanded a championship match against Hikaru Shida for Jay next week. Jay said that when they first fought she was a rookie, but it’s different story now that she’s in the Dark Order.

PAC and Rey Fénix vs. The Butcher and The Blade was announced for next week.

A Darby Allin video package aired. Inside a church, he set himself on fire, and that was that.

Team Taz (Brian Cage & Ricky Starks) defeated Cody Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson) & Darby Allin

Taz joined commentary. Starks and Allin wrestled to a stalemate before exchanging slaps. Allin fired up with a Thesz press as Cody and Cage tagged in. They each hit big moves, concluding with Cody nailing a moonsault press for a near fall. Taz left the commentary desk and made his way ringside.

During the break, Taz broke up Cody’s flurry of offense, which enraged Arn. Arn tossed a chair into the ring and was ejected from the match.

Cage and Starks isolated Cody with frequent tags. Cody reached Allin for the hot tag. Allin ran wild on Team Taz and jackknifed Cage for a two count. He set up for a German suplex on Starks, but Cage came in and suplexed them both. Cody cut Cage off with the Disaster Kick before being leveled with a Spear.

Allin hit a shotgun dropkick and fought out of a powerbomb into a yoshi tonic for a great near fall. Starks went for Roshambo, but Cody cut it off and hit Cross Rhodes. Cage flattened Allin with a spinning clothesline and dispatched Cody with a Saito suplex.

Cage perched Allin on the top rope. Allin fought him off, but Starks stopped a Coffin Drop and Cage hit an avalanche Drill Claw to pin the TNT champion.

After the match, Team Taz continued the beatdown before Will Hobbs ran out with a chair to make the save. He picked up the FTW Championship and appeared to taunt Team Taz, but turned around and laid out Cody. It appears that Hobbs has joined Team Taz as they all stood over Cody and Allin to end the show.
