Show Report —

Chris Jericho was on commentary for the show. He got a full “Judas” entrance at the show open.

Eddie Kingston & Penta El Zero Miedo (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/ Brandon Cutler)

This was a fantastic opener.

If Kingston & Penta win, they earn a tag title shot. They fought before the bell, and a couple quick cradles from Kingston got near falls. Penta hit his diving dropkick to Matt’s posterior. He wanted the Fear Factor DDT, but Matt shoved him into the Bucks’ corner and they took control with a double team cannonball enziguiri.

Penta slid to the outside and hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Matt before taking out Nick with a diving crossbody and tagging in Kingston. Kingston ran wild on the Bucks and hit a fisherman’s suplex on Nick for two. He hit the Kitchen Sink but was pulled to the floor, where he took out Matt with another suplex. Kingston turned around into a soccer kick from Nick.

The Bucks hit a double splash on Kingston on the floor and got a nice spray-down from Cutler. Back in the ring, the Bucks beat down Kingston with frequent tags. They hit repeated kicks to Kingston’s back, but Kingston fired up and laid in chops on both Bucks. They overwhelmed Kingston with the numbers advantage and hit a cheap shot on Penta on the apron.

Kingston fought out of a double team and left Nick stranded on the top rope. He laid in repeated headbutts and took Nick down with a superplex before reaching Penta for another hot tag. Penta used a cazadora to propel himself into a DDT before a Code Red got a close two. It almost looked like a mistake, like Matt didn’t get his shoulders up in time.

Matt fought out of the Fear Factor and tagged in Nick, who came in with a springboard hurricanrana. Nick went for the running bulldog, but Penta fought out. Kingston hit a German and Penta hit a backstabber, but Matt broke up the pin. Matt then took out Kingston with a crossbody on the ramp.

Penta and Nick exchanged strikes in the ring. The former hit a superkick and then caught one from Nick, but Nick hit a low blow when the official couldn’t see it. The Bucks went for the Lucha Bros’ diving Fear Factor finisher, but Kingston broke up the pin just in time for a great near fall.

Kingston hit an exploder on Nick, but ate a series of superkicks to take him out. Penta backdropped Nick to the floor and the Good Brothers distracted the official, but Penta avoided Cutler’s cold spray, who sprayed Matt instead. Kazarian came out and took out Cutler. Penta took out everyone with a tope con giro before the Fear Factor and spinning backfist allowed them to pick up the win.

– Kingston and Penta acknowledged Kazarian after the match.

He said Jungle Boy’s about to be the champion, but first, he’s going to become the first AEW wrestler to get 50 wins. Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt appeared, and the former thanked Christian for having Jungle Boy’s back. Luchasaurus now has Christian’s back.

Ethan Page interview with Tony Schiavone

The Men of the Year, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, were in the ring with Schiavone. Page was about to speak about why he chose a Coffin match, but was drowned out by boos after telling the crowd to “shut up.” He eventually said what he’s been doing is not enough. Page’s goal is to exterminate Darby Allin.

Allin keeps coming back after all these bumps, so crippling him physically isn’t an option anymore. The Coffin match is going to cripple Allin mentally. Every time Allin thinks about doing a Coffin Drop, he’s going to think of Page.

Sting’s music interrupted and he came out with a coffin. A video then played of Allin torching a coffin. Allin popped out of the coffin and attacked the Men of the Year. Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop on Sky and Allin gouged at Page’s eyes. Page rolled to the floor and said Allin knew he couldn’t beat Page at 100%. Page wants it in writing that Allin won’t touch him ahead of the match.

Before the match, Matt Hardy said he was sending Evans after Jungle Boy for stepping in Hardy’s business. He doesn’t care if Evans wins or loses, just that he hurts Jungle Boy. If you cross Hardy, you have to pay.

Jungle Boy defeated Jack Evans

This was Jungle Boy’s 50th win in AEW, the most in the company.

They performed chain wrestling to start. Jungle Boy surprised Evans with the Snare Trap, but Evans quickly reached the ropes. Evans came back with a leaping kick, but Jungle Boy turned around an arm wringer with his rebound arm drag and a kip-up ahead of the break.

Once back, Jungle Boy hit a series of running offense including a running dropkick and a big lariat. He caught a spinning kick from Evans. They fought on the top rope, Evans slipped out, but Jungle Boy flipped out of a German suplex attempt and locked on the Snare Trap for the win.

– After the match, Hardy Family Offices ran out, but Christian and the Jurassic Express made the save. Christian hit his reverse DDT on Hardy in the ring and choked him out with his suit jacket. Evans tried to get involved, but Christian fought him off.

MJF addressed Chris Jericho. He said he’s outclassed Jericho week after week, both in the ring and on the mic. He told Jericho to call it quits and listed all of Jericho’s transgressions against him. Jericho used to be so cool, and now he’s a joke. Next week, he will announce the list of stipulations that will give Jericho one last match with MJF.

In the meantime, MJF’s gonna take out his anger on Guevara. People have wanted to see this match for a long time to find out the “future of professional wrestling.” After tonight, they’ll say Guevara’s the future, because MJF is the “now.” “I’m better than you, and you know it.”

Andrade El Idolo was interviewed by Alex Abrahantes. He talked about Matt Sydal interrupting him last week and proposed they face each other in Miami at Road Rager.

Kenny Omega interview with Tony Schiavone

Kenny Omega was brought out by Schiavone. Like the rest of the Elite, he had ridiculous facial hair. Omega talked about how he stays motivated every day. Today he woke up feeling like a king because he has defeated all the biggest stars in AEW, and now the top young star in Jungle Boy last week. He said with nobody left, he’s going to take time off.

The Dark Order interrupted. Evil Uno said he thinks Omega has a challenger. Omegaa was dismissive, and Uno said he’s right, because nobody in the Dark Order has enough singles wins. But he has somebody in mind: the #1-ranked singles competitor in all of AEW, implying Hangman Page.

Omega said Page wouldn’t appreciate Uno speaking on behalf of him, and he doesn’t have the guts. He doesn’t think he has the right to take this belt. Omega did his “good-bye and good night” ending with no Hangman Page.

Brian Pillman Jr. was backstage. He told Miro to forgive him for not believing the same things as him because he didn’t have a lot of faith growing up. This is Pillman going out there to prove that Miro is nothing but a big bully and a big Bulgarian bitch.

TNT Championship: Miro (c) defeated Brian Pillman Jr.

This was a fun title match and yet another dominant victory for Miro.

Pillman went right after Miro at the start, but Miro turned a ripcord into a Samoan Drop. Miro effortlessly beat Pillman down with strikes and throws. Pillman got a couple strikes but was crushed with a fallaway slam for his trouble, leading to a commercial break.

Once back, Miro landed nine clubbing blows, but Pillman countered the tenth. A springboard dropkick from Pillman sent Miro to the floor followed by a running diving dropkick. Pillman kept up the fight on the floor with reapeated strikes. Back in the ring, Pillman hit a springboard clothesline, but Miro kicked out at barely one.

Miro countered another springboard, but Pillman had it scouted and landed repeated thrust kicks. Miro caught one and hit his signature high kick and then another. He called for Game Over and locked it on, wrenching back and leading to the referee stoppage.

Hangman Page was upset with the Dark Order. He asked if they thought he was scared of Omega, but Colt Cabana said they think he’s scared of failure. John Silver said “win or lose, we always have your back.” They all hyped him up and Alex Reynolds said “this is your time.”

Taz was backstage with Hobbs and HOOK. He said Brian Cage and Ricky Starks weren’t here, and it’s been rough on them. On July 14th, it’s gonna get figured out as Cage defends the FTW Championship against a medically cleared Starks.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. & Rebel defeated Nyla Rose & Vickie Guerrero

This was horrendous.

Guerrero got in Rebel’s face with “Excuse me” before the bell, so Baker took her out. Rebel went for a sleeper on Rose, who fought out easily. Rose beat down Rebel in the ring ahead of a commercial break.

Once back, Rebel rolled up Rose for two and Baker made a tag, hitting a Sling Blade. Rose went for the Beast Bomb, but Baker flipped out and kicked Rose down. Baker got the glove but Rose hit a big chokeslam. Rose draped Baker over the ropes and hit the diving knee, but Rebel broke up the pin.

Guerrero tagged in and Rose went to the top rope, but Baker pushed Guerrero into Rose, sending her to the floor. Baker then locked on the Lockjaw on Guerrero, leading to the submission.

– Rose attacked Baker after the match and hit the Beast Bomb. Guerrero set up a table and Rose powerbombed Baker through it to the floor.

It’s gonna feel so much sweeter knowing FTR brought all the fight they can. They’re going to have Konnan in their corner. Ortiz just said “you messed up.”

MJF defeated Sammy Guevara

This was on its way to being one of the better matches in Dynamite history until the finish.

MJF powdered to the floor right away. He came back in and took down Guevara with a shoulder tackle before taunting. Guevara evaded with a taunt of his own. They both had each other scouted, leading to some quick counters until MJF hit a cross chop to Guevara’s throat. Guevara came back with a knee strike, but MJF caught the GTH. They performed more chain wrestling before a series of cradles forced a break and a stalemate. That was a really cool opening sequence.

Guevara attacked in the corner, but when the official tried to break it up, MJF used the distraction to poke Guevara’s eyes. Guevara fought back and went for the 630 senton, but MJF rolled to the floor. Guevara pursued and back in the ring hit a double springboard cutter for two.

MJF swept out Guevara’s leg on the apron and sent him into the barricade on the floor, where Guevara hurt his knee. This led to a commercial break. Once back, Guevara went for a baseball slide, but MJF caught him in the ring skirt and attacked. Guevara fought out of a powerbomb and sent MJF back into the ring, but MJF turned a springboard into a powerbomb for two.

They fought on the top rope, where Guevara hit a Spanish Fly. Guevara made a comeback with clotheslines and an enziguiri followed by a diving kick. Guevara clotheslined MJF to the floor, skinned the cat, and hit a great tornillo dive. Back in the ring, Guevara hit a destroyer for two.

A leg-trap craadle from Guevara got two more. MJF guillotined Guevara over the top rope and grabbed a chair. Guevara dropkicked the chair into MJF’s face, knocking him into the stands. He followed it up with a top-rope senton bomb all the way to over the barricade into the audience in a great spot.

Guevara eventually rolled MJF back into the ring. He went for the 630 senton, but MJF popped up and pushed Guevara down using the ropes. He followed it up with a second-rope piledriver for two. MJF was clutching at his knee. After lots of waffling, MJF eventually made it to his feet, where he was cradled by Guevara for a good near fall.

MJF went for the Heatseeker, but Guevara pushed his way out of it. A sunset flip led to another cradle exchange. Guevara hit thrust kicks and then the GTH, but MJF’s foot was on the ropes. Guevara went for the 630 once again, but MJF begged off. Guevara hit it anyway for another great near fall.

Shawn Spears walked off, so Chris Jericho, who was on commentary, ran to cut him off. Wardlow attacked Jericho from behind and distracted the official while Spears crushed Guevara with a chair shot to the head. MJF just barely covered for the win.

The final few minutes of the show were a video package of the biggest moments in the Daily’s Place era of AEW Dynamite. It was really nice.
