AEW Dynamite live results: Game of Thrones ‘House of the Dragon’ episode
This week’s AEW Dynamite episode is presented by HBO’s Game of Thrones “House of the Dragon” series, which premieres Sunday.
Bryan Danielson takes on Daniel Garcia in a two-out-of-three falls match on Dynamite. Garcia defeated Danielson in their last singles contest. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat will serve as guest timekeeper for the match.
The World Trios Championship tournament begins with The Young Bucks and a mystery partner facing Andrade El Idolo, Rush, and Dragon Lee.
Number one contender to the AEW Women’s World Championship Toni Storm takes on KiLynn King in a singles bout.
Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison of Varsity Blonds face Gunn Club’s Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn in a tag team contest.
A week after making a surprise return at Quake by the Lake, AEW World Champion CM Punk will speak on tonight’s episode. Punk’s appearance tonight was announced in the hour prior to the show.

Show Report —
The show got an intro interspersed with clips from the new House of the Dragon TV show.
CM Punk speaks
There’s nobody like Punk.
Punk came out with the AEW World Championship over his shoulder and was showered with chants.
He started by challenging Hangman Page to a rematch, but Page didn’t come out, so Punk called him a coward. “Everybody wants to be the champ until it’s time to do champ sh*t.” He turned his attention to Jon Moxley, saying Moxley might be #1 in our hearts, but Punk is #1 in the ring. Punk said Moxley had always been number two, and he’s even the third best guy in his group — a recurring theme throughout his career, referencing the Shield.
Moxley’s only been the interim champion, not the real one. His best friend Eddie is the third-best Eddie and the second-best Kingston he’s ever shared a ring with. At All Out, Punk will put everything to the test as he defends his championship; he won’t even be the first “John” he beats for a belt in Chicago.
Punk was interrupted by Moxley’s music, and Punk mocked how long how long it takes Moxley to get to the ring by laying down and doing snow angels.
Moxley mocked Punk, saying he’s writing checks with his mouth that his body can’t catch. Punk may think he’s the best wrestler in the world, but to Moxley, a microphone is just a microphone. Neither belt means anything until he beats Punk. Moxley called himself the “heart and soul,” and Punk called himself the “dollars and the cents.” He challenged Punk and got in his face, but Punk said he’d wait until the pay-per-view, lest Moxley bleed all over him.
They got in each other’s faces and unloaded strikes until AEW security came out to break it up. They were separated momentarily, then they broke free and attacked each other again.

Powerhouse Hobbs was backstage and asked about attacking Ricky Starks. Hobbs said he didn’t need friends, and unlike Starks, he’s not okay with losing. He was tired of Starks hiding behind his back. As far as QT Marshall and the Factory, Hobbs has something for them too.

Two out of Three Falls: Bryan Danielson defeated Daniel Garcia 2-1
This was a stellar hard-hitting technical battle, even better than their last match.
They locked each other in heel hooks early on and jockeyed for position. Garcia pushed Danielson into the corner and gave him a slap before a commercial. Once back, Danielson was laying in Yes kicks before landing the running knee in the corner. Garcia countered a frankensteiner into a cradle for two.
After a hard chop exchange, Garcia hit a butterfly suplex into an armbar. Danielson reversed it into a Regal-plex for two. Garcia escaped to the floor, where Danielson hit a diving dropkick, but Garcia came back with a back suplex on the outside. He laid in hammer-and-anvil strikes, but Danielson turned a Sharpshooter into a triangle. Garcia fought out with a piledriver before locking on the hammerlock dragon sleeper, forcing Danielson to tap in about 10 minutes. Garcia leads 1-0.
Danielson barely made it to his feet for the second fall. Garcia smacked him with chops and was firmly in control ahead of the commercial. He maintained that control throughout, where Danielson was busted open after a DDT on concrete. Garcia went back to the dragon sleeper, but Danielson turned it into a cradle in about 15 minutes total. The score is tied 1-1.
Immediately after the fall, Garcia continued to attack Danielson. Danielson trapped Garcia in the tree of woe and laid in Yes kicks before hitting an avalanche German. He followed it up with a missile dropkick. Danielson kept up the attack on the outside, repeatedly pulling him into the ring post. They both teased a countout, and when Garcia made it into the ring, he had been busted open.
They had an awesome strike exchange during the picture-in-picture commercial break. Garcia locked on a Sharpshooter, the one he’s calling the Dragon Tamer, but Danielson turned it into the LeBell Lock. Garcia locked on a pinning predicament to escape, but then Danielson shrugged off a corner dropkick and laid in a hard chop. Garcia hit a Busaiku knee on Danielson for two.
Danielson fired up on a knuckle lock and attacked with forearms. He hit ground and pound before trying to kick Garcia’s head in. Garcia reversed it and did the same thing, then Danielson finally was able to do it. Danielson locked on the triangle, but Garcia wasn’t strong enough to get the piledriver out of it, so he just went for desperation strikes. Danielson applied the LeBell Lock and laid in elbows, leading to the referee stoppage in about 26 minutes total. Danielson won 2-1.
– After the match, Jericho attacked Danielson, but Garcia shoved him off and slapped away a handshake. There was an awesome “You’re a wrestler!” chant.

Swerve in our Glory and Private Party were backstage. They will face off on Rampage for the tag titles. Private Party were proud of being ranked #5, but Swerve said they’d never win those championships. Lee said they’d send them back down the ladder.

Tony Nese came out for something, but Jon Moxley crushed him during his entrance and demanded that CM Punk come out and fight for the AEW World Championship. Punk obliged, but the officials tried to stop him from doing so. They had to work really hard to keep Punk and Moxley apart, including Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler YUTA coming out to restrain Moxley.

Chris Jericho and 2point0 were backstage. Jericho was asked about potential dissension between Jericho and Garcia. Jericho said he’d give Garcia the benefit of the doubt, but he needs to know for sure, so they’ll talk it out in the ring next week. “Whose side are you on?”
Ricky Steamboat walked up and said Garcia is coming into his own. He doesn’t need Jericho, and Danielson would be the better choice to mentor him. Jericho and Menard walked off, but Parker stayed back and got in Steamboat’s face, so Steamboat dropped him with a right hand.

The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) (w/ Billy Gunn) defeated Varsity Blonds (Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr.)
Austin dispatched Pillman and Colten hit the Colt .45 for the squash win.
– After the match, Billy said he was proud of his sons. They all hugged. Stokely Hathaway appeared on the ramp, allowing Austin and Colten to attack their father from behind. The Acclaimed ran out and chased the Gunn Club away, saving Billy. They all “scissored” to end the segment.

Death Triangle were backstage. PAC addressed the United Empire, saying he’s the best Brit the country’s ever produced. He’s looking forward to next week, because they’re an unstoppable unit.

Jungle Boy speaks
He talked about his “Christian is a pussy” shirt from last week, saying he’s not allowed to wear it anymore, but that shirt does hit the nail on the head. He’s tried to hit Christian a million times, and Christian’s done absolutely nothing in return, so Jungle Boy challenged him to a match at All Out.
Christian came out and said “no.” He patronizingly said he’s proud of Jungle Boy, as he’s actually speaking for once. Christian said they both said things they don’t mean, but he wants to fix things. He wants to go on another run with Jungle Boy and take him to the promised land. “At the end of the day, we’re family, and I love you. You are like a son to me; come back home.”
Jungle Boy teased giving Christian a hug, but instead took him down and laid in strikes. Christian eventually broke free and rolled to the floor, where he kicked Jungle Boy low and sent him into the barricade. He tried to send Jungle Boy into the steel steps, but Jungle Boy reversed it and repeatedly drove him face first into the steps. Jungle Boy then stomped Christian into the steps and continued the attack until officials broke it up.

Wardlow and FTR were backstage. Cash said they’d never let Wardlow get jumped three on one before challenging Lethal, Sonjay, and Satnam to a trios match. Wardlow said he could powerbomb anyone. Dax said he’s the best wrestler in the world, not Lethal, and they’d settle it next week.

Toni Storm defeated KiLynn King
King used her power to gain the advantage early on. After a back-and-forth exchange, King hit a jumping knee off the ropes. Storm avoided a diving dropkick and went for a DDT out on the floor, but King powered through and drove Storm into the barricade.
Back from break, Storm countered an avalanche back suplex into a crossbody and hit a German suplex bridge for two. King returned fire with a spinebuster for two. Storm came back with the Sweet Cheeks Music (the corner hip attack) and a swinging DDT for the win.

After the Bucks made their entrance, the Bucks handed Justin Roberts a sheet of paper, revealing to us that the mystery partner was a returning Kenny Omega. The crowd exploded. Omega was joined by Don Callis and Michael Nakazawa.

AEW World Trios Championship Tournament quarterfinals: The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega (w/ Brandon Cutler) defeated La Facción Ingobernable (Andrade El Ídolo, Rush, & Dragon Lee) (w/ José The Assistant)
Even though they’re clearly telling the story Omega isn’t 100 percent, this was still an awesome main event and a perfect start to the tournament.
Lee and Nick started off, with Nick hitting an escalera arm drag. Lee’s partmers came in but were quickly dispatched by the Bucks and Omega. Omega tagged in, notably wrestling in a compression shirt and arm brace, and took out Lee with a springboard. He landed ten punches in the corner and hit the first part of You Can’t Escape, but tagged out instead of finishing it. Omega and the Bucks hit a triple team to maintain control.
Andrade tagged in and faced off with Omega, but a distraction from José allowed Rush to attack from behind and La Facción Ingobernable to take control. After a commercial, Omega reached Nick for the hot tag, who fought off Andrade and Rush. Matt tagged in and hit repeated Northern Lights suplexes, then everyone came in for a three-on-three suplex spot, which the Bucks and Omega won.
Nick landed a step-up flip dive, but then all three of La Facción Ingobernable hit big moves, with Andrade landing double knees in the corner for two. They isolated Matt in the corner and hit simultaneous dropkicks. After a commercial, Omega got the hot tag and hit snap dragon suplexes on all three opponents.
The Bucks hit simultaneous superkicks before Matt hit an assisted buckle bomb and cannonball senton on Lee. All three landed superkicks but Andrade broke up the pin. The Bucks took out Rush and Andrade before Kenny fired up the Terminator claps, but Lee cut off the dive. Omega dispatched him, but struggled with his knee and then José tripped him up on the dive.
La Facción Ingobernable set Omega up on the guardrail, then Lee hit an absurd tope con giro, wiping out Omega into the front row. Lee covered for two. Andrade came in and climbed the ropes, but Nick cut him off. Lee took out Nick with a hurricanrana to the floor, Andrade went for the moonsault, Omega rolled out of the way, but Andrade sprung over again for a near fall.
Andrade hit the hammerlock DDT, but Matt pushed Rush into the pile for a good near fall. Omega fired up with a V-Trigger on Lee, following it up with a second one. Omega popped Lee up for the One-Winged Angel and the win.
– After the match, Andrade attacked Dragon Lee with the Hammerlock DDT just as the show went off the air.
