AEW Dynamite live results: Full Gear build continues
The build to Full Gear intensifies tonight with the final Dynamite before Saturday’s pay-per-view.
ROH World Champion Chris Jericho will team with Sammy Guevara against Claudio Castagnoli and Bryan Danielson on tonight’s show. The four will square off in a four-way for the ROH title on Saturday’s PPV.
In a World Trios Championship bout, Death Triangle will defend their titles against AR Fox and Top Flight this evening.
Interim AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will be in action against Anna Jay of the JAS.
Half of the World title eliminator tournament finals will be set as Ethan Page takes on Bandido in a semifinal bout.
Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed will be in singles competition against Swerve Strickland of Swerve In Our Glory.
A music video from The Acclaimed, plus promos from Jon Moxley, Samoa Joe, MJF, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., and Saraya are also set for tonight’s show.

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone, Taz & Ian Riccaboni as they run down tonight’s card.
Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson defeated ROH World Champion Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
(An action packed opener with all four men getting in plenty of offense ahead of the ROH World Title 4 Way match on Saturday. There was a little hiccup at the end between Guevara & Jericho, so some subtle seeds were planted for them to be on different pages come Full Gear.)
Jericho & Castagnoli and Danielson & Guevara paired off early with the latter picking up where they left off in their main event last week. Danielson & Castagnoli took turns using anvil elbows before Danielson got a Romero Special on Guevara. Guevara used his speed to momentarily overtake Castagnoli, who answered with a stalling vertical suplexes on both J.A.S. members. Jericho briefly got the advantage on Danielson by going after his injured eye from last week, but Danielson chopped his way free. Danielson was dropped and allowed Le Sex Gods to pose for the crowd. Danielson no sold a Guevara corner chop and lit him up with strikes and corner charges until Guevara got a drop toe hold into the buckle. With the referee’s attention turned, Jericho popped Danielson in the face with Floyd the bat as they went to commercial.
Danielson was isolated throughout the entire break, as Ian Riccaboni says Jericho is becoming what he’s despised, a successful ROH Champion. Danielson moonsaulted out of the corner and wiped Jericho out with a flying elbow to make the hot tag, as Castagnoli ran wild with uppercuts, including one of the springboard variety. Castagnoli went for a giant swing, but Guevara put a stop to it, as he took out Danielson with a dive, while Jericho locked in Castagnoli with the Walls of Jericho. Danielson posted Guevara and broke up the submission with a shotgun dropkick.
Guevara & Danielson both made the tag and had a stare down, as Danielson leaned into the forearms and starched Guevara with a strike and kicks. Again Guevara went for the eyes, looked for GTH, but Danielson rolled through into the LeBell Lock. Guevara got a rope break, but they went up the ropes, Guevara bit his way from Danielson’s grasps and hit a super cutter. Jericho hit a Lionsault, as Castagnoli broke things up. Danielson & Jericho both tried for charging attacks and collided for the double down. Danielson made the tag, but Jericho was more worried about reaching for Floyd than tagging Guevara, as Danielson took out Guevara with a dive. Castagnoli hit a long giant swing; afterwards he disarmed Jericho and his bat, locked in a Sharpshooter and got the submission.

-Black and white video is shown of Darby Allin in a body bag being picked up by Sting and placed in the back seat of a car. Allin gets free and sits up front while Sting says Full Gear will be Showtime. We cut back to Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh & Jeff Jarrett backstage as Jarrett said he & Sting have wrestled for 24 years and Full Gear will be the last time.
-Before the next match, The Acclaimed premiered their new music video mocking Swerve in Our Glory. It started with Paul Wight bringing back his Captain Insano character from The Waterboy while being interviewed by The Acclaimed as they made fun of guys dressed like Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland. It ended with The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass walking on the beach, holding hands.
Swerve Strickland defeated Anthony Bowens
(While most of this was shown during commercial break, it got the message across that Strickland really did a number on Bowens arm, which could hamper The Acclaimed’s chances of defending their title in Match 3 of this series. There was no Keith Lee with Strickland tonight.)
Max Caster did a pre-match rap that included a line about Jay Leno burning himself this past week. Tony Schiavone wished Leno well and referenced working with Leno in 1998 in WCW. For the second week in a row, Daddy Ass attacked Strickland pre-match and was taken away by referees as a result and Caster just left with him. Bowens got the early offense until Strickland used his speed and kicks to send Bowens to the floor and wiped out with a Fosbury Flop. Bowens was launched into the front row, as Strickland controlled the entire commercial.
Bowens, mouth busted open, tripped up Strickland in the corner and mounted a comeback that included a charging back elbow. Despite being slow to put his offense together due to the early attack by Strickland, Bowens hit an Angle Slam for two, tried a spin slam, but Strickland answered with a brainbuster and kill shot kick for a near fall. Strickland violently snapped the arm of Bowens and hit a top rope Swerve Stomp, but again got two. Bowens tried a school boy, but Strickland again wrenched at the arm and hit the JML Driver for the clean win.

Samoa Joe Interviewed by Tony Schiavone
Despite turning on Wardlow last week, Joe still entered through the babyface tunnel. Joe was asked about his shocking actions and he said his actions weren’t shocking, as Wardlow’s actions resulted in him paying the price. Joe refuses to be the victim like most of the fans here tonight. Joe didn’t wait around to be saved, he saved himself and if anyone has a problem, they should take it up with him. Powerhouse Hobbs interrupted and said he’s been the one kicking Wardlow’s ass the last several weeks and hits the ring to do the same to Joe, but Wardlow interrupted, as he hit the ring from the crowd and attacked Joe. All three men had to be pulled apart by the locker room. As Joe & Hobbs were taken outside the ring, Dark Order just let Wardlow go, as he wiped out everyone with a dive over the top to stand tall.

-Britt Baker is backstage alone, recapping what Saraya said about her last week. In three years she became a leader in the AEW locker room and became her own role model. She earned opportunities instead of being handed them. Baker said she might not have wrestled at MSG, but she wrestled in Daily’s Place during the pandemic, something Saraya would never know about. Baker respects Saraya, but this business owes Saraya nothing, as Baker is the heart, soul & pulse of AEW. If Saraya can’t respect that, Saraya needs to get the hell out of her house.
Death Triangle (PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) & AR Fox to retain the AEW Trios Titles
(Can you believe these six men had an awesome match? Shocking, I know, as this was a full speed action packed match when they weren’t on commercial. This was a fantastic battle.)
Welcome back Darius Martin, who is returning to action following a car accident earlier this year. He & Fenix began the match and to the surprise of no one, they started a mile a minute with counters aplenty that led to a stalemate. Penta & Dante jumped in, as Dante did a wall walk into a no handed leap frog and sent Penta outside, which was just incredible. Fox & PAC had a face off, as both did flips to avoid each other until Fox hit a jump kick and cutter that sent PAC outside. Fox did a moonsault from the inside to the floor and senton atomico back in the ring for two. The match broke down briefly until Top Flight launched PAC high in the air into an awaiting Fox cutter. Lucha Bros made the save and Death Triangle hit a three way dropkick on Fox. Cazadora splash moonsault combo got a two count into commercial.
Fox was isolated the entire break, but got the hot tag right when they returned to Darius, who dropped PAC with a brainbuster for two. Darius got a reverse waistlock on his own brother and launched him over his head, as PAC nearly took out Fenix with a kick, but pulled up. Top Flight laid out PAC & Fenix with a DDT & spinning slam respectively, as Penta was taken out by a Darius dive, while Dante hit his no hand dive on PAC & Fenix. Fox hit an inverted flip to take everyone out. Back inside, Fenix was set up in the corner and Fox hit Lo Mein Pain and 450 Splash for a close two. Top Flight were dropped by PAC & Penta, while Fenix hit his comeback kick. Penta hit the Fear Factor by Penta, double stomp by Fenix, who took out Top Flight with a dive, while PAC hit Black Arrow on Fox for the win.
Post match, PAC said Death Triangle aren’t stupid, he said they’ve seen the videos and said if certain individuals want to come into Full Gear and beat Death Triangle, that’s ridiculous. PAC said Death Triangle hides from no one. A ticking clock is shown on the big screen and a graphic with Death Triangle against a blank side, but it’s slowly revealed to be The Elite. Death Triangle vs. The Elite for the Trios Titles at Full Gear is official.
-Ricky Starks is backstage and talks about Lance Archer attacking him last week prior to their tournament match. Their match will happen on Rampage this Friday.
Ethan Page (w/Stokely Hathaway) defeated Bandido to advance in the Title Eliminator Tournament
(The crowd seemed dead for the first half of this match, but Page & Bandido got them really into it the second half. These two had a solid match and Page continues to look strong in this tournament.)
After Page controlled early momentarily, Bandido used his speed and agility to take over. Page tried a stalling vertical suplex, but Bandido turned the tide with one of his own. Page grabbed the ref, which allowed Stokely to trip up Bandido and Page to get a cheap shot.
Bandido had his hope spots, but Page controlled most of the break. Bandido was able to hit a low dropkick, send Page to the floor, where Bandido did a moonsault off the ring post. Back inside, Bandido hit a tornillo for a close two count. Page blocked the 21 Plex and hit a cutter for two of his own. Page went for the Avalanche Ego’s Edge, the same way he beat Eddie Kingston, but Bandido countered into a super hurricanrana and one handed gorilla press slam. Bandido hit a top rope frog splash for two and a lot of the crowd bit at the false finish. Each man cut the other off in the ropes until Page hit a top rope body slam and diving shoulder tackle. The Egos Edge hit and Page advances to the finals.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Saraya and said she never thought she’d be in this moment. Saraya is sick of the back and forth with Britt Baker, she wants to be where the best is and the best is in AEW. She’ll see Britt at Full Gear.

-Quick video about Eddie Kingston & Ortiz vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Jun Akiyama is shown. Kingston said in 1998, Hiroshi Hase vs. Jun Akiyama in the Tokyo Dome was the moment Eddie Kingston wanted to fight Akiyama and he’s waited for this moment his whole life. Come Rampage, they better bring it.
AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm defeated Anna Jay A.S. in a Title Eliminator Match
(Most of this took place during commercial and it really was rest holds by Jay while that was happening. Storm got to get in a nice series of offense to lead to her victory, but aside from that, not a whole lot happened here.)
If Jay wins, she gets the first title shot at whoever is the Interim Women’s champion after Full Gear. Storm was in control early until Jay kicked the leg out from Storm in the corner and hit a low dropkick. Jay had a long rest hold during commercial before Storm recovered and had a forearm battle, which the champion won. Storm hit a Thesz Press, clothesline and fisherman’s suplex for two. Jay scrambled to the ropes, but Storm hit Sweet Cheek Music that sent Jay flying outside. Jay answered by sending Storm into the steps and hit a face buster on the floor. Back inside, Jay hit a superkick for two, looked for Queen Slayer, but Storm got free with a shotgun dropkick. Another Sweet Cheek Music connected, as Storm sank on the Texas Cloverleaf and Jay immediately tapped.
Post match, Jamie Hayter hit the ring, as champion & challenger had an intense face off leading to their Full Gear title match.

Jon Moxley & MJF Face Off
(This was a good go home segment for the main event, as I’m still firmly (no pun intended) believing MJF is in cahoots with Stokely. Although the final shot of this show had Regal really staring a hole through MJF, which leads me to believe maybe he’s potentially in on it? I could be way off, but that wouldn’t surprise me either. I just don’t think MJF, the man who calls himself the Devil, is winning clean on Saturday.)
Moxley came to the ring with Lord William Regal and says he’s the best wrestler on Earth, backing it up, defining the AEW World title. He’s sick in the head; he’s addicted to the adrenaline and pain. Moxley has researched MJF and found out he’s a good singer, who has had 1 win in the last 6 months, against Mox’s young boy. He did a Brian Pillman stunt and won the worst finish to a ladder match he had ever seen. Mox said the fans will see something special at Full Gear, what he does best, he’s challenging MJF to show him balls at the PPV. Stokely Hathaway walked out to the ramp, as The Firm all hit the ring to attack Moxley & Regal.
MJF’s music hit and hit hit the ring, while laying out The Gunns & Lee Moriarty on his way. MJF dropped W. Morrissey with a low blow and dispatched of Ethan Page as well. MJF told Stokely & crew to leave before he keeps kicking their ass. He saved Moxley because he doesn’t want Mox to have any excuses come Full Gear. MJF said he’s not the same kid when they fought the first time and told Regal he wouldn’t need the Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF needs that AEW title more than he needs water, food or oxygen. The title means you’re the best wrestler in the world and it’s his time. MJF said the greatest trick the devil ever pulled is convincing the world he didn’t exist, but before MJF could finish his catchphrase, Moxley cut him off. Moxley said this Saturday; the training wheels come off, as they had a faceoff with Regal in the middle of them.
