AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as we go right to our entrances for our opening contest.

Switchblade Jay White (w/Bullet Club Gold) defeated Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes)

(A hot opener with the crowd on their feet for a majority of this, as it was a smart move having Penta get the crowd going being out first tonight. This was a solid back and forth match with the ending something everyone should’ve expected. No way was White losing and no way were Bullet Club Gold not getting involved.)

Penta wasted no time wiping out Juice Robinson, The Gunns & even Card Blade with a tope before dropping White with a Sling Blade on the floor. Back inside, a double stomp off the top led to the bell to officially sound as Penta hit a float over back stabber for two. Colten Gunn tried to trip up Penta and the distraction was long enough for White to hit a quick DDT to take control. Penta was able to fire off a thrust kick, but was ultimately sent crashing outside, where Bullet Club Gold trash talked before White hit a front first suplex on the apron. White tied up the mask of Penta to the ropes, but referee Bryce quickly untied what Tony Schiavone called a B-team knot. Taz said it wasn’t a square knot, as he & Schiavone are just popping each other as White kept Penta grounded during picture in picture.

Penta avoided a back drop and responded with multiple Sling Blades before White was flattened with a somersault dive outside. Back inside, a very loud chop battle ensued with White demanding Penta take off his shirt to make it even, as Penta obliged and the chops only got louder before White took out the knee, but ran right into a spinning Jackhammer into a reverse DDT. Penta ran right into a massive Uranage and brainbuster for two, as White hit a Dragon Screw and Sleeper Suplex, but Penta avoided Blade Runner into Made in Japan for a close two. Bullet Club Gold ran distraction from every direction, allowing Robinson to blast Penta with a left hand allowing White to hit the Blade Runner for the victory.

Post match, White shushed the crowd and said MJF isn’t here, but an elite champion is, J-AY-WHITE. It seems like MJF is taking his sweet time answering White’s challenge to a tag match, but it’s because he has no friends. Robinson gave a spoiler alert that he’s winning tonight’s main event battle royal and taking MJF’s stupid ring. Austin Gunn capped off the promo with two words, Gunns Up.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with MJF, who said he could’ve ran out there and got his ass handed to him, but that’s what a good guy would do and he’s a scumbag. MJF is on commentary tonight and didn’t want to waste his pop from the crowd on a run in. MJF hopes Juice Robinson wins tonight, as next week it will be the Left Hand of God vs. the Right Hand of the Devil. The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass interrupt and Max Caster said they can accept the challenge and all scissor with their titles after. MJF declined, so Caster said he’ll enter the battle royal tonight, beat MJF next week and force him to put a ring on it. MJF stormed off as Daddy Ass called him a scumbag, but Caster said he’s his scumbag.

Hikaru Shida defeated Emi Sakura in a Women’s Title Eliminator

(I wish we saw more of this match, as I really enjoyed the second half back and forth. I know this eliminates Sakura of getting a future title shot, but I hope to see this match again down the line. These two ladies always work great with one another.)

Sakura wasted no time attacking Shida in this battle of teacher and student. Sakura fired off chops, while Shida unloaded forearms with Sakura backing Shida to the corner with machine gun chops. Shida ran for the cross body, but Shida exploded out with a pumping knee and hit a rolling crucifix for two. Ten corner punches connected, but Shida missed the follow up cross body, as this time, Sakura hit her charging corner cross body and controlled the action during break.

Both ladies collided into a double down as Shida was sent to the outside with a cross body through the ropes. Sakura sprinted down the ramp, but Shida was waiting for her with a hurricanrana. Back inside, Shida hit a missile dropkick for two, as both ladies traded finisher attempt and near falls until Sakura connected on a high stack Tiger Driver for a close near fall. Sakura went up top, but missed a moonsault, allowing Shida to hit the Kitana knee, but Sakura blocked it slightly, exploded out at one and got a La Magistral for the closest two of the match. Both ladies traded tilt a whirl back breakers until Shida hit a home run right hand and Falcon Arrow before clocking Sakura with Kitana knee flush for the victory.

-Earlier today, Renee Paquette is sitting backstage with Adam Copeland, who said things haven’t been going smoothly since showing up in AEW and he doesn’t understand why. The whole reason was to end his career teaming with Christian Cage, who seemed on board, but when it got closer, Cage really didn’t want it. Copeland talked about their 40 year friendship and how they became best friends off their love of pro wrestling. Copeland talked about how they both wrote essays to try and win free wrestling training, which Copeland did and Cage didn’t. Copeland won training, got the job up North before Cage did and it’s always been Adam & Jay or E & C. Paquette asks if this jealousy is surprising from Cage at this stage in their careers? Copeland said it is and doesn’t want to take the TNT Title or his spotlight, but knows Cage will eventually come crashing to the ground. Paquette asks what Copeland wants in AEW and Copeland said it’s a lame answer, but he doesn’t know, he just knows when Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne turn on Cage, he’ll be there to pick him up.

Wardlow defeated Ryan Nemeth

Nemeth charged at the bell and tried to fight off the first powerbomb, but couldn’t do it, as Wardlow hit almost a Last Ride for the TKO. Post slaughter, Tony Schiavone asked what Wardlow’s mission was being back and Wardlow held up his wrist tape that said MJF before shoving down Schiavone, which stopped some of the Wardlow chants, but not all of them.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Kenny Omega, who said his win loss record has been quite putrid lately and thanks Kyle Fletcher for challenging him and reminding him just who he is. Once Omega defeats Fletcher and dispatches of the Don Callis Family, maybe it’s time for the Kenny Omega of old to challenge for the AEW World Title. MJF then walks into the shot and said he’s always been a massive fan and shook his hand before whispering “13 Days, bitch” before walking off. Omega said 13 days, we’ll see about that. 13 days is when MJF becomes the longest reigning AEW World Champion.

We go to Roderick Strong’s Humble Abode where Mike Bennett is playing the bongos and singing Headstrong by Trapt, but instead it’s Neckstrong. Adam Cole brings Strong some coffee and he spits it out, saying he hates hot coffee. Strong apologizes and said he used to love it back in Ring of Honor when Cole would make PB&J’s. We then get a video montage of Cole making sandwiches and Strong spitting it out, saying he hates crust. Cole said he’s finally had enough, he hasn’t talked to Max in weeks and it’s time to get surgery. Cole left, as Strong told Bennett & Matt Taven he knows what he has to do to get Cole back, he has to be nice to that scumbag, MJF.

-Tony Schiavone reluctantly introduced Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs to the ring. Callis said last week, someone did the unthinkable, demolished Chris Jericho. Hobbs said February 22, 1998 was supposed to be the greatest day of his life when he was supposed to meet his hero, Chris Jericho. Hobbs’ grandmother got him front row tickets and Jericho told her to shut up and for young Hobbs to sit down. Hobbs swore the day he got to look Jericho in his eye, he would hurt Jericho over and over and he did just that by hitting spinebuster after spinebuster. Callis said people have always told Hobbs to bottle up the anger, but in the Don Callis Family, he allows guys to be killing machines, as Hobbs will be unleashed on All Elite Wrestling. Callis said they’ve won every match as a Family, except for when Sammy Guevara was concussed, so Callis had to get a scab that failed in Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher came out and tried to get in Callis’ face, but Hobbs shoved him off. Fletcher said he took the match as a favor for Callis, maybe he was the weakest link in the match, but tonight, he’ll prove to everyone, including Callis, he doesn’t need anyone’s help to beat Kenny Omega. Callis likes the confidence and said if Fletcher wins, they’ll have an opportunity to chat next week.

Kenny Omega defeated Kyle Fletcher

(A fantastic match, as both men tore it up with Fletcher hanging tough yet again. I really enjoyed Callis on commentary, as this isn’t going to be it for Fletcher in this story, as Callis was left furious at the result of this. I wouldn’t mind Fletcher turning babyface to help challenge the Callis Family. Omega will need numbers in his fight and if The Elite aren’t available, Fletcher would work great.)

Don Callis joined commentary, as Omega unleashed chops early on to Fletcher, who fought back with a charging back elbow and right hands. Omega sent Fletcher to the outside and followed with a slingshot cross body. Back inside, Omega took too long to follow up on the apron, as Fletcher hit a running dropkick and launched Omega into the front row. After briefly being back in the ring, Omega floated over in the corner, hit a quick hurricanrana, but Fletcher cut off the Terminator Dive and a chop battle ensued ringside. Omega set up Fletcher on a chair, sprinted, but Fletcher hit a low dropkick and Omega clipped the chair into commercial.

Back from break, Omega tried You Can’t Escape, as Fletcher avoided the moonsault by rolling outside, where Omega connected on an Ibushi-esque moonsault off the ropes. A missile dropkick connected to the lower back, but Fletcher countered a V-Trigger into a half and half suplex. A sprinting corner kick and brainbuster got Fletcher a near fall. Fletcher connected on a vicious lawn dart and Michinoku Driver for another close two. After a leg lariat in the ropes, Omega fired back with a V-Trigger, Poison Rana, high stack powerbomb and V-Trigger flush for two, which Omega couldn’t believe.

Another V-Trigger connected, but Fletcher countered One Winged Angel into the Dragon Sleeper. Both men traded counters until Omega hit a Snap Dragon and after a huge running start, turned Fletcher inside out with a huge V-Trigger followed by a One Winged Angel for the win. Callis immediately called Fletcher a failure as a result.

-Another Danhausen vignette is shown for his impeding return-hausen. Does he still end things with hausen? I can’t remember.

Lance Archer defeated Barrett Brown

(The first time seeing Archer since July and I hope we see him destroying fellas more often, as it’s always fun to watch, just maybe not for poor Barrett Brown in this instance.)

Archer sent Brown tumbling down the aisle during his intro and caught a diving Brown with a chokeslam on the apron. The bell officially sounded, as a release suplex led to three corner splashes. Brown tried to fight back one more time, but Archer hit a step up knee in the ropes and the Blackout for the quick win.

-Excalibur tells us the World video premiere of Swerve Strickland’s remix theme Big Pressure, with Flash Garments will air on YouTube. Strickland & Prince Nana are walking at the graffiti park in Houston, as Strickland said he should be excited, but he’s not. He should be celebrating with the TNT Title, but he’s not because of Hangman Page. Strickland said for Page to remember it’s not always you who pays for your actions, which is absolutely a threat to the Young Bucks.

Sting Addresses His Fans

Tony Schiavone proudly introduced Sting to the ring and Sting said before he says “the word” he wants to reflect a little bit. Sting talked about traveling down the roads with Lex Luger, Steiner Brothers, Buff Bagwell and how they talked about guys who shaped the business for them like Dusty Rhodes, who got a huge pop and Hulk Hogan, who did not. Sting brought up Ric Flair and thanked him for putting Sting on the map at the Clash of Champions and the Great American Bash 1990. Sting always wondered what made guys like that come back, what did they have to prove? Sting now understands why, it’s the camaraderie and the roar of the crowd. Sting mentioned not being able to do the things he did in the ring when he was younger and brought up diving off balconies, which popped the crowd huge.

Sting said he retired once before in 2015 and it didn’t sit well with him. Sting said the first match with AEW was at Revolution 2021 and his final match of his career with be at Revolution 2024. One more thing everyone needs to know, the only thing for sure for Sting, is his retirement will be for sure. Sting’s music hit and he got a standing ovation. The fact that AEW has gotten three years of in ring Sting matches and he’s found this fountain of youth in the process has been amazing.

-RJ City is seated backstage and was about to introduce Toni Storm’s second film, Gone With The Storm when Toni Storm herself interrupts and tells us all chin’s up, tits out and enjoy the film. We got the silent film inside of picture in picture; something I refuse to think is anything but brilliant. This week’s film did feature a RJ City cameo, something he’s perfect for.

Jim Ross is sitting backstage with Nick Wayne and his mother, Shayna, who was never mentioned by name, she’s just Nick’s mom. She said she can’t understand how Nick could do what he did to Darby Allin when he’s been like a brother to Nick. After the things Christian Cage has said about his father and herself, this isn’t the way, as Nick exploded and told her to shut up, with JR telling him to watch it. Wayne said it’s time to prove to himself why he’s here and his new father figure, Christian Cage, is a better father than his real dad ever was. Cage walked into the shot and asked if his son is ready to come home? Nick called his mother a terrible mother as she slapped him in the face and Nick said she’s dead to him. Cage said Nick’s mom should’ve picked up the phone, as he & Nick walked out a door and we heard a scuffle.

Darby Allin appeared and laid out both Nick & Cage, as Allin & Nick brawl out from backstage. Cage & Luchasaurus appear and beat up Allin briefly before Sting shows up, sweeps the leg out from Cage and drops Luchasaurus. It looks like Nick Wayne has a tooth busted and bleeding, as Sting nearly got the Scorpion Death Lock on Cage, but Luchasaurus saved him. Sting & Allin stood tall, as Cage held up Nick with Luchasaurus on the stage.

Juice Robinson won the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal last eliminating Max Caster

(This was your standard battle royal, with the final two making the most sense, especially with the random guys involved. I will say Dustin Rhodes got a huge pop in Texas, which should surprise no one and also Daniel Garcia got a big reaction when he finally was able to bust out his dance. I would’ve been legit shocked had anyone other than Robinson won this.)

Other participants included Daniel Garcia, Dustin Rhodes, Matt Menard, Jeff Hardy, Trent Beretta, Jake Hager, Komander, Matt Hardy, Johnny TV & Matt Sydal

MJF joined commentary, as he said everyone is coming for the champ, as Johnny TV quickly eliminated Sydal and this nearly resulted in a dance battle with Johnny & Garcia, but Daddy Magic put a stop to that. Rhodes & Matt Hardy teamed up to eliminate Johnny TV. Matt tried an elbow off the second rope, but Hager caught him in mid air and dumped Hardy. MJF left commentary and tried to pay off Dustin Rhodes to take out Juice Robinson and did so by delivering Shattered Dreams. Komander briefly fought off the former Jericho Appreciation Society, but was ultimately eliminated by Garcia & Menard.

Beretta dropped Menard with a half and half, as Rhodes followed with a Canadian Destroyer on Garcia before hugging Beretta and eliminating Hager. Menard & Beretta fought on the apron with Garcia saving his buddy, allowing Menard to dump out Beretta. Jeff Hardy got a running start, but Garcia avoided it and eliminated him. For the third time, Menard stopped Garcia from dancing and it led to a shoving contest before both men attacked Rhodes. Garcia ran into Menard, allowing Rhodes to dump Menard, as Garcia dumped Rhodes leaving it down to Caster, Robinson & Garcia, who finally did his dance and it resulted in getting eliminated by Caster.

Only Caster & Robinson remain, as Robinson was clutching on to the top rope and cut off a charging Caster. Robinson wanted a suplex to the floor, but Caster held on and both men were on the apron. Robinson raked the eyes, as both men scaled the ropes and Robinson fell into the ring where Caster hit the Mic Drop. Just then, Jay White attacked MJF on commentary and the fight continued on the stage with MJF getting his AEW World Title back briefly before White hit a low blow. This all distracted Caster, allowing Robinson to put on his TJ Maxx ring and KO Caster, eliminating him to win it. Bullet Club Gold had a staredown with MJF, as White held the AEW Title and Robinson flashed his knock off ring to end the show.
