AEW Dynamite live results: CM Punk vs. Bobby Fish

CM Punk makes his Dynamite in-ring debut tonight in Boston.
Punk will take on Bobby Fish. The match was set up on last week’s Dynamite after Fish defeated Anthony Greene. Fish continued to attack Greene after the match, but Punk ran in to make the save.
Sammy Guevara will defend the TNT Championship against Ethan Page tonight. If Guevara wins, The Inner Circle gets a five-on-five match against American Top Team at the November 13 Full Gear pay-per-view.
The AEW World title eliminator tournament will continue on Dynamite. Jon Moxley takes on Preston “10” Vance of The Dark Order.
The TBS Championship tournament also continues tonight. Hikaru Shida will face Serena Deeb in a first round matchup.
The Elite team of Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Adam Cole will face Dark Order’s John Silver, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson in an eight-man tag.
MJF will also be in action on tonight’s episode.
Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

CM Punk defeated Bobby Fish
This was probably Punk’s weakest match since his return. It was fairly methodical and slow-paced, even more than previous Punk AEW matches. The finish was odd as well.
The early portion of the match featured a lot of stalling from Fish. Neither man could establish an advantage as they wore each other down with holds. Punk used a series of body slams and then soaked up adulation from the crowd. He teased an early GTS, but Fish grabbed the ropes to fight out. Punk clotheslined Fish out of the ring and landed a tope suicida, driving Fish into the barricade.
Punk looked for the top-rope elbow drop, but Fish rolled to the floor and tripped Punk, sending him crashing to the apron. This allowed Fish to target Punk’s left knee and dominate with strikes and holds. Fish maintained control for a long time.
They fought on the top rope, where Punk was able to send Fish back to the mat. He landed a one-footed elbow drop and got the better of a strike exchange to start his comeback. Punk hit a neckbreaker and his rising corner knee short-arm clothesline combination. Fish countered a GTS with a dragon screw.
Punk cradled Fish, who bridged out of it, but Punk then hit the GTS out of nowhere to win. Fish kicked out late as the finish appeared to have some miscommunication.

A Malakai Black video played. He addressed Cody, saying he turned his family against him and made the crowd hate him. “The house always wins.”

MJF (w/ Wardlow & Shawn Spears) defeated Bryce Donovan
MJF whipped Donovan into the corner and hit the Heatseeker for the squash win.
– After the match, MJF cut a promo. He insulted Boston a lot. A “Darby” chant interrupted. He turned his attention to Allin and said he broke him mentally. Now that Allin’s out of his hair, there’s nothing stopping MJF from his destiny. After Full Gear, it doesn’t matter who wins between Omega or Page, because MJF is the future world champion.
Sting’s music played, but it stopped after a moment, and MJF cracked himself up at the ruse. The lights went out again, and this time, a video played of Allin beating up someone dressed like MJF. I believe it was rapper JPEGMAFIA but I could be mistaken.
When the lights came back on, Sting was in the ring and whacked Wardlow and Spears with the bat. Allin appeared in the crowd and sent MJF running up the ramp. He then produced the thumbtack-addled skateboard and smacked it over Wardlow’s back. He had just two words for MJF: “Full Gear.”

Britt Baker, Rebel, and Jamie Hayter were backstage with Tony Schiavone. This Friday, Baker will have a Trick or Treat match (no disqualification) with Abadon for the AEW Women’s Title. Baker said she had a couple of tricks of her own.

TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara (c) defeated Ethan Page
If Guevara wins, the Inner Circle get to choose who they face at Full Gear. If Page wins, Guevara must leave the Inner Circle.
Guevara bolted down the ramp and attacked before the bell. He sent Page to the floor and landed a great flipping dive before tossing Page over the timekeeper’s table. Once back in the ring, the match finally started. Early on, Guevara had an answer for everything Page threw at him until Page crotched Guevara over the top turnbuckle and sent him to the floor.
Once back from commercial, Guevara fought out of Ego’s Edge and made his comeback with clotheslines and an enziguiri. He landed a nice double springboard cutter and a standing Spanish Fly for two. A top-rope shooting star press to a standing Page on the floor followed.
Page countered the GTH and hit an iconoclasm followed by an inside-out slam for two. Page slammed Guevara off the top rope and a running shoulder tackle followed for two more. Page went for a top-rope Ego’s Edge, but Guevara reversed it into a hurricanrana and cradled Page to win and retain.
– After the match, Scorpio Sky came out and he and Page beat down Guevara. The Inner Circle ran out to make the save.
Jericho cut a promo. He respects that Sky has beaten him twice, but Page only beats… himself… in his hotel room. Guevara won, so there will be a five-on-five Full Gear tag team match between America’s Top Team and the Inner Circle. It will be a Minneapolis Street Fight. Next week, the Inner Circle will decide which members of America’s Top Team to face.

Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingston were backstage with Tony Schiavone. They will face off in the AEW world title eliminator tournament. Kingston was insulted by Danielson’s prior comments, accusing Danielson of not walking a mile in his shoes. Danielson said that’s the Kingston he wants to see. He’s been through it too, but he doesn’t complain about it. Some of the best wrestlers in the world are in this tournament, but on Friday night, Danielson will prove that he’s the best.

The Lucha Bros were backstage with Tony Schiavone. Penta laid down the challenge to FTR in Spanish, then Fénix did the same thing in English.

TBS Championship Tournament: Hikaru Shida defeated Serena Deeb
Wow! This was the best AEW women’s match in forever, maybe since Riho vs. Deeb at Double or Nothing back in May.
Shida landed a big inside-out suplex early on leading to the break. Upon return, Shida hit a running knee and a sliding forearm. A missile dropkick followed by a delayed vertical suplex got two. They had a nice striking counter exchange, leading to a spider German and an inverted slam from Shida for two. A sliding knee from Shida got yet another near fall.
Deeb took control and looked to lock on a cradle, but Shida kicked out of it and sent Deeb to the floor. Shida set up her chair, Deeb had it scouted, but Shida improvised by stepping up the stairs and landing a running dropkick. Deeb tripped Shida up and locked her in a Figure Four over the ring post.
Back in the ring, Deeb went for the Figure Four again, but Shida cradled out of it for two. Shida then hit a question mark kick and a knee strike, but Deeb rolled backwards into a half crab. She then rolled Shida back into the ring for an inverted Figure Four. Shida eventually reached the ropes.
Deeb grabbed Shida’s 50-win plaque, but Shida had it scouted. Shida considered hitting Deeb with the plaque, but when the official took it away, Deeb poked Shida’s eye and cradled her for a great near fall. Another cradle exchange finally led to Shida picking up the win.
– After the match, Deeb grabbed a chair and repeatedly smashed it over Shida’s leg. She continue to dismantle Shida’s knee until the officials came out to restore order.

Lio Rush and Dante Martin were backstage with Schiavone. The proposed tag match between Rush/Martin and the Sydals is off due to Mike’s injury, so it will be a Martin vs. Matt Sydal singles match. Rush implied that the Sydals were ducking him, saying his in-ring debut would come at another time. Unlike Matt Sydal, Rush cares about teaching Dante about this business.
**********
AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament: Jon Moxley defeated Preston “10” Vance
Moxley immediately landed a German suplex and stomped 10 down in the corner. He sent 10 into the ring steps and ripped at his mask. 10 was busted open badly as Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift for the squash win in a couple minutes.
**********
FTR and Tully Blanchard were backstage. They’ve waited almost a year to get back their championships. Come Full Gear, the Lucha Bros will have to do something they’ve never done before: fight.

Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo promo
This was tons of fun. Definitely more complex than your average wrestling storyline.
Cody came to the ring with Arn Anderson and was met with heavy boos. “Whether you believe it or not, I hear you.” He hit the Tiger Driver ’98 to win against Malakai Black, but for a brief moment, he thought about hitting a different move (a Pedigree). He didn’t do that, because that’s too easy. He asked the fans to not forget the person who built this place.
He tossed his shoes to the crowd and asked them to take a moment in them. Cody debuted at 20, his wife is too hot for him, and his brother’s better than him. He will never leave behind the cultural legacy of his father Dusty. “I will not turn, because I love you guys very much.” He turned to Arn and said it was an honor to stand in the ring with him before shaking his hand.
Andrade El Idolo interrupted. He said that the people don’t like him or Cody, but the difference is, Andrade doesn’t care. Cody makes stupid choices, like getting in Andrade’s business. If Cody wants, Andrade can make him his “little b*tch.”
The lights went out and Malakai Black appeared, spraying mist in Cody’s face. He and Andrade beat down Cody and Arn. PAC ran out and sent the heels packing.

Dark Order came out in Halloween costumes. The Elite came out as the Ghostbusters, remixed theme song and all.
Dark Order (Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, John Silver, and Colt Cabana) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson)
My review won’t do this justice. This was ridiculous and just eminently entertaining. AEW isn’t perfect, but no wrestling in the world can match its pure fun factor.
Silver got the advantage against Cole early on and mocked his “Boom!” chant. Omega and Uno tagged in, and the Elite distracted the official, allowing things to break down and the Elite to take control. Both teams took turn mocking each other before the break.
Dark Order made a comeback upon return. Grayson hit backflipping knee strikes and reached Cabana for the hot tag. He landed a springboard moonsault press followed by a bionic elbow. The Superman pin nearly got the win but was broken up by Cole.
Cabana’s run was cut off by a superkick from Nick. Silver went on his ridiculous run of offense, concluding with a German on Nick. He ran into more superkicks, though, and Omega crushed him with a snap dragon suplex. A superkick ushigoroshi combination had its pin attempt broken up by Grayson.
Uno came in and hit the official-assisted neckbreaker. We got a parade of big moves concluded by Matt superkicking the official. Grayson wanted Nightfall, but Matt low blowed him before every member of the Dark Order took low blows of their own. The Elite crushed the Dark Order with their Ghostbusters proton packs before hitting a triple powerbomb on Cabana through the proton packs.
The other Dark Order members came out to get involved. A member was dressed as a horse and the Elite low blowed him and hit the BTE Trigger. He was unmasked as Brandon Cutler. The guy who they thought was Cutler, the marshmallow man, unmasked as Hangman Page.
Page hit the Buckshot Lariat on Matt before Grayson landed an Orihara moonsault on the pile. The Deadeye followed, then Silver hit the Spin Doctor for the win, pinning Matt.
