AEW Dark results: Orange Cassidy vs. Anthony Henry

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means.

This week’s AEW Dark was taped in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last Friday with Excalibur and Taz on the call.

The Butcher & The Blade and Private Party defeated Isaiah Broner, James Alexander, Brayden Lee & Sam Moore (2:22)

Private Party hit a gamengiri and poisoned rana combination on Lee while Butcher and Blade finished off Moore with Dredge The Lake to pick up the win.

Anna Jay A.S. (w/ Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker & Matt Menard) defeated Megan Meyers (1:20)

Jay A.S. won a quick one by grabbing the Queen Slayer out of nowhere and getting a quick tap.

Best Friends (w/ Danhausen) defeated Rohit Raju & Ren Jones (3:28)

Trent Beretta hit a pair of gutbusters on Raju and a stiff clothesline. The half-and-half/soul food combination took out Raju, but Jones interrupted the Best Friends hug with a clothesline. Taylor got Jones up for a crucifix powerbomb, but he tossed Jones to Beretta for a sit-out powerbomb instead. Best Friends finished off Jones with a Strong Zero. Raju protested, so Danhausen gave him a low blow for his troubles. This was a peppy little match.

– Tony Schiavone interviewed Andrade El Idolo & Rush about the tornado tag match at Quake by the Lake Wednesday. Andrade doesn’t respect anyone but Schiavone because of his earring. That might have been tongue in cheek. Rush is here to destroy every wrestler in this company…except Andrade, of course. He also name dropped Los Ingobernables. This was a fun promo to build to tomorrow and really the kind of thing they should be doing more of on the B and C shows.

Dark Order (Evil Uno & 10) defeated The Wingmen (Peter Avalon & JD Drake) (4:15)

Excalibur hilariously explained how the WorkHorsemen (Drake’s primary team) are actually a subsidiary of Wingmen Industries (Avalon’s group), the kind of commentary detail which makes Dark so very special. 

Drake and Avalon got the jump on Dark Order before the bell and Avalon nearly pinned Uno after a flying splash. 10 got the hot tag from Uno after a missed cannonball from Drake and a hangman’s neckbreaker. 

10 overpowered Avalon with an extreme delayed vertical suplex and a spinebuster. There was a great double-team from Dark Order where 10 grabbed Avalon in a cazadora and Uno snapped his neck on the top rope and into a German suplex. 10 got the pinfall after a discus clothesline on Avalon. He and Uno are turning into a really good powerhouse tag team.

Marina Shafir & Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Heather Reckless & Joseline Navarro (0:46)

Rose and Shafir treated their opponents “like an airline that canceled their flight and didn’t rebook them until 9 PM the next day.” Shafir booted Reckless while Rose gave her a spinebuster to get the quick pinfall.

After the match, Guerrero cut a promo asking the fans to stop stuffing their faces with “cheap concessions” (has she been to a snack bar lately?) and to get off their phones (okay, that’s fair). Guerrero said all the podcasters and dirt sheets should refer to Guerrero, Rose and Shafir as the Beasts of Burden. Rose then power bombed Reckless onto Navarro.

Kris Statander defeated Sierra (2:16)

Statlander was very over with the Grand Rapids crowd. She hit a great looking powerslam. Sierra dodged a charge in the corner and hit a sliding elbow, but Statlander popped up and delivered a big boot to get the pinfall.

We need to get to Jade Cargill vs. Statlander for the TBS title soon.

The Trustbusters (Ari Daivari, Slim J & Parker Boudreaux) defeated Sonny Kiss, Zack Clayton & Xavier Walker (3:10)

Boudreaux looks like Brock Lesnar if he weren’t in shape. Kiss hit a double handspring elbow on Slim J. Clayton dropped a big elbow on Slim J. Walker (who was much bigger than Slim J) tried a press slam, but Slim J escaped with an eye rake. Slim J and Daivari combined for an assisted sliced bread to get a near fall. Boudreaux got the tag and overpowered Walker. He then drove Walker down with a backdrop suplex and Daivari came in with a frog splash to get the pin.

Sonny Kiss turned his back on the match while his partners got squashed. It looked like Slim J and Boudreaux were going to attack Kiss, but Daivari stopped his partners and said something to Kiss. Maybe a recruitment pitch?

Hikaru Shida, Ruby Soho & Athena defeated Leva Bates, Emi Sakura & Serena Deeb (8:08)

This was the first match on the show that felt like it had star power on both sides of the ring. Deeb outwrestled Soho on the mat early on, and Soho came back with a headbutt and brawling. Shida got the tag and Deeb begged off, tagging in Sakura. Sakura and Shida exchanged tilt-a-whirl back breakers and forearms. Athena and Bates tagged in, and Athena buried a spin kick into Bates’ gut. Soho got a cazadora-assisted splash on Bates for a near fall. Deeb hit a cheap shot on Soho’s arm, and Bates followed up for the heels to get the advantage.

Deeb was particularly brutal with Soho. Soho fought out of an octopus hold and took Deeb down with a back heel trip. Shida got the hot tag and ran wild on Sakura. Sakura hit a meteora off the top for a near fall, broken up by Bates. Everyone flew in and hit finishers on everyone else. Bates got a near fall on Shida after a thrust kick and a neckbreaker. Bates went for her loaded book, but the referee disarmed her. Shida hit Bates with a springboard gamengiri and the Katana to get the pinfall.

Orange Cassidy defeated Anthony Henry (w/ JD Drake) (6:04)

Cassidy sent Henry to the floor with a dropkick and followed him out with a tope suicida. Drake caught Cassidy behind the referee’s back with his slingshot uppercut on the floor and Henry got a near fall with a tiger driver. Cassidy went for a spinning DDT, but Henry blocked it and countered with a brainbuster for a near fall. 

Henry went to the top, but Cassidy rolled out of the way and under the turnbuckle. Henry went for another suplex, but Cassidy countered with a Slumdog Millionaire and a spinning DDT. Drake got on the apron and ate an Orange Punch, then Cassidy hit Henry with the Beach Break for the pin.

This was a fun match and a fun episode of Dark.
