AEW Dark results: Jungle Boy vs. Bear Bronson

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means.

Excalibur and Taz let us know that all these matches were taped Saturday during the fan festival. Although not exactly a packed house (as other things were going on like autograph signings), it was the most sizable Dark crowd in forever. (Well, since Monday’s Dark: Elevation that is.)

Gunn Club (Colten & Billy) defeated Cezar Bononi & Ryan Nemeth (w/ Peter Avalon) (7:39)

Nemeth got a takedown early and gave himself a point like it was amateur wrestling. Colten then took Nemeth down with a tackle and a body slam. Tags were made on both sides to the larger members of each team. Bononi and Billy tried to chokeslam each other and both failed. Billy hit a clothesline and tagged to Colten who came in with a dropkick. Avalon tripped up Colten and Nemeth worked him over with the handstand hammerlock.

Bononi got the tag and worked over Colten with a chinlock, followed by a big body slam where he tossed Colten halfway across the ring. Bononi hit a backdrop suplex for a one count. Colten got the hot tag to Billy who hit the Famouser on Bononi in short order for a near fall. Colten then caught Nemeth with the Colt 45 for the win.

Kris Statlander (w/ Best Friends) defeated Robyn Renegade (5:05)

It’s really bright out there for a show called Dark is all I’m saying. Statlander got a great ovation from the crowd and later got some hardway blood from her lip or mouth. Shortly thereafter, she countered a body slam attempt into the Big Bang Theory for the win.

Dark Order (Stu Grayson, Alex Reynolds and Alan “5” Angels) (w/ a lot of the Dark Order) defeated TH2 & Serpentico (w/ Luther) (8:27)

They played Luther & Serpentico’s horrible music instead of the TH2 theme, which meant no dancing from Angelico, so what is even the point of this match? John Silver got an excellent reaction from the crowd when he made his entrance with the rest of the Dark Order.

Serpentico and Angels started out and it was pretty good. Luther interfered and the heels took control. As a result, the Dark Order chased Luther to the back. The heels got a lot of heat on Angels until he caught Serpentico charging with a spanish fly and got the tag to Reynolds. Evans tried to springboard in, but flew into a boot from Reynolds.

Grayson got the blind tag and practically drove Evans through the mat with an uranage for a near fall. Reynolds and Grayson held Evans up off the mat for Angels to come in for a moonsault that got a near fall. Evans hit a 450 on Reynolds for another near fall. TH2 and Serpentico went for a triple team on Reynolds, but that backfired and Reynolds hit Evans with a pop-up high knee for a near fall. Grayson finished off Evans with the Darkness Falls backbreaker to finish a great match.

Later, they congratulated themselves in the back for the great reaction they received in front of the first “real crowd” in a while and are looking forward to touring again in July.

Red Velvet defeated Diamante (7:11)

The Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleaders were at ringside. I guess they’re called the Jaguars Roar, but Taz kept calling them the Jaguars Raw which led to some hilarity in the commentary.

Diamante hit three rolling vertical suplexes for a near fall and worked on Velvet’s arm. She hit her no arms splash where she comes down with her arms on her sides for a near fall. Velvet came back with a crossbody off the top rope, a pair of clotheslines, and knees to the back. A standing moonsault got Velvet a near fall followed by a running stunner for another near fall. Diamante came back with a back kick and standing sliced bread for a near fall. Velvet went for a cazadora, but Diamante countered into a release german suplex for a near fall. She went for another, but Velvet rolled through and caught her with the spinning hook kick for this pin. This was another great Dark match.

Jungle Boy (w/ Luchasaurus & Marko Stunt) defeated Bear Bronson (7:38)

Stunt stole pom poms from one of the cheerleaders and Jungle Boy’s entire song was played for the crowd to sing along. As you’ve probably heard by now, he was way over with the crowd all weekend.

Jungle Boy used speed to take Bronson down and then caught him with a dropkick, nipped up and soaked in the adulation from the crowd. Did I mention Jungle Boy was over?

Bronson got the advantage and hammered away with forearms in the ropes, so the crowd sang “Tarzan Boy” to inspire him. Reed worked a side headlock for a bit, but Jungle Boy broke free. Bronson hit a clothesline and a senton for a near fall. Jungle Boy came back with his rebound clothesline. He then went for a DDT, but Bronson countered into an exploder suplex for a near fall. Jungle Boy hit an enziguri and a DDT for a near fall, followed by an elbow to the back of Bronson’s head for the win.

Final Thoughts:

It’s so great to see live wrestling with fans.

It’s also great to see an episode of Dark end within an hour. Every match got enough time to develop into something very good. This was the best episode of Dark in a while.
