AEW Dark results: Brian Cage vs. Tony Deppen

This week’s AEW Dark action was taped nearly two weeks ago in Newark, New Jersey.

The Factory (QT Marshall, Lee Johnson & Cole Karter) defeated Justin Corino, Ryan Mooney, & Steven Josifi

Johnson and Josifi started things off and after Johnson delivered a few strikes, Josifi tagged out to Mooney. Karter came in off a tag and helped Johnson hit a back bomb for a near fall.

After some crowd taunting, Marshall came in and clotheslined Corino from behind. Karter and Johnson came in shortly after and helped Marshall hit an assisted diamond cutter on Corino for the victory.

Zack Clayton defeated Chris Wylde

Clayton had this match in the bag from the get-go. After trapping Wylde in the corner and delivering a few strikes, Clayton ran him over with a shoulder block. Moments later, Clayton hit Wylde with a pump handle fireman’s slam for the win.

Hikaru Shida (w/ Hagane Shinno) defeated Layla Luciano

Shida connected on a few quick strikes in succession before Luciano returned the favor, After some more back and forth, Shida hit Luciano with a meteora from the top rope, followed by her signature Katana knee strike for the pin and win.

Jericho Appreciation Society (Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker) defeated Tracy Williams, Jack Tomlinson & LSG

Garcia and Tomlinson started out and Garcia took him down with ease which prompted a tag to LSG. Menard and Parker then took turns delivering a series of punches to LSG in the corner before getting Garcia back in the match.

Garcia allowed LSG to escape out of his grasp for a moment, which allowed him to tag out to Williams. Williams got a few clotheslines in before Menard and Parker stacked the odds against him. Moments later, Tomlinson came back in, but he was immediately submitted by Garcia shortly after.

Brian Cage defeated Tony Deppen

The former ROH TV Champion outsmarted Cage at first as he dodged many of Cage’s strike attempts. Cage eventually got a hold of Deppen and suplexed him across the ring. He followed that up with a back bomb that sent Deppen rolling out of the ring.

Deppen eventually regained his composure and attempted to hit a double foot stomp from the top rope. Cage rolled out of the way and proceeded to hit Deppen with a buckle bomb for the win.

Angelico defeated Hagane Shinno

This was Shinno’s official debut of sorts even though he debuted in one of the Fight Forever matches at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

Angelico got the advantage early, taking the bout to the outside and taking Shinno off his feet, causing him to hit the apron face first. Angelico then brought the bout back to the ring and locked in a calf focused submission, but Shinno was able to escape it with a rope break.

In the closing moments, Shinno was able to nail Angelico with both a moonsault and a missile dropkick. However, Angelico recovered rather quickly and made Shinno submit with the Navarro Especiales.

Emi Sakura defeated Tiara James

Sakura made quick work of James. After hitting a lariat and a few open handed chops, she pinned James after hitting her signature backbreaker.

Matt Hardy & Private Party defeated The Wingmen (Ryan Nemeth, Peter Avalon & Cezar Bononi)

Ethan Page was on commentary for this match.

Nemeth and Hardy started out but after a few seconds, Marq Quen came in and delivered a great looking DDT to Nemeth. Team Hardy seemingly had things in control until Hardy came back in the match. From here on, control between the two teams shifted back and forth as more tags were made.

The real meat of the match came in the closing stretch when Hardy set up Avalon for a Twist of Fate. From the stage, Page told Hardy not to do his signature move. Instead, Hardy hit Avalon with Page’s signature Ego’s Edge for the win.

After the match, Page was angry with both Hardy and Private Party backstage. After sending Private Party away, Page promised Hardy that he was going to break him and punish Private Party as a result of his actions.
