AEW Dark results: Blake Christian vs. Rohit Raju

This week’s 14-match AEW Dark lineup from Universal Studios saw the AEW debut of Blake Christian against former Impact X-Division Champion Rohit Raju.

Jay Lethal defeated JD Drake (w/ The Wingmen)

This opener should have been better as both competitors seemed to have a lack of fire.

Drake gained an early advantage with the assistance that The Wingmen provided with their outside interference. With the momentum, Drake delivered a powerful dropdown headbutt before transitioning to a headlock. Lethal escaped the hold and begin to gain the crowd’s support, allowing him to hit a Lethal Injection for the pin and win.

The Butcher & The Blade defeated The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo)

Butcher isolated Bravo as the match began. Dean got a hot tag, but it would prove to be ineffective as the Blade was able to score the victory shortly after hitting Full Death.

Anthony Ogogo defeated Ray Jaz

Ogogo delivered a standing suplex and taunted the crowd. Jaz fought back with some light strikes that did virtually no damage. Ogogo delivered his signature knockout punch moments later, giving him the victory.

Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Kaci Lennox

Similar to last night’s Dark: Elevation, Guerrero distracted Lennox which allowed Rose to blindside her from behind. A Beast Bomb ended up being the fate of Lennox, giving Rose another win.

Blake Christian defeated Rohit Raju

This was a fun sprint match despite only lasting around three minutes.

Raju was aggressive in his first approach to Christian, delivering a foot stomp to his chest. Christian retaliated with a split-legged moonsault for a near fall. Raju responded with a running flatliner which only motivated Christian to get back up and hit a springboard 450 splash for the win.

The Acclaimed defeated The Skulk (Liam Grey & Adrian Alanis)

Max Caster delivered a great running elbow to Alanis as the bout started. Anthony Bowens tagged in and brought Grey into the match. After a few more moves, Caster delivered the Mic Drop elbow drop to Grey for the victory,

AQA defeated Valentina Rossi

Rossi didn’t take AQA lightly as she delivered a few knees to her stomach. Rossi wouldn’t get far as AQA planted her on the mat with a rolling neckbreaker which scored herself the win.

Tony Nese defeated Karam

Nese focused on taking Karam to the mat and working on the legs. After positioning Karam on the bottom turnbuckle, Nese delivered a running leg strike for the victory.

Abadon defeated Angelica Risk

Abadon toyed around with Risk for a moment before putting her away with her signature DDT.

Gunn Club (Austin & Colten Gunn) defeated Brick City Boyz

There was no tag team action here; it was practically a thirty second tornado tag match. Colten pinned Cruz after a Colt 45 in a very quick manner.

Mercedes Martinez defeated Gemma Jewels

Martinez delivered some hard chops as she gained steam from the crowd. After a series of running dropkicks in the corner, Martinez locked in a dragon sleeper on Jewels who tapped rather quickly.

Varsity Blonds (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Sotheara Chhun and Tony Vincita

Griff Garrison and Chhun started out. Garrison planted Chhun with a side slam while Brian Pillman came in off a tag. Pillman faced a double team from Chhun and Vincita for a few moments before he tagged back out to Garrison, who delivered multiple release overhead belly-to-belly suplexes. Pillman later successfully pinned Vincita with a brainbuster.

Marina Shafir defeated Leila Grey

Shafir struggled with Grey for a moment, but would tap her out shortly after with a cradle headlock-type submission that looked pretty neat.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Fuego Del Sol

Hobbs pummeled Sol into the mat and was in complete control early on. When the match spilled to the outside, Sol had a glimmer of hope when he shoved Hobbs into the ring post and followed it up with a tornado DDT for a near fall. After kicking out, Hobbs regained his footing and put Sol in the Torture Rack for the victory to finish out this week’s show.
