AEW Dark results: Bear Country vs. The Hybrid2, Max Caster raps

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means: time for AEW Dark.

Taz and Excalibur were on commentary for the show with no Anthony Ogogo — a likely casualty due to his role in the attack on Cody Rhodes and the Nightmare Family last Wednesday.

Dark Order (Stu Grayson, Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds) defeated Jake St. Patrick, Sage Scott and Chandler Hopkins (3:00)

Reynolds got the win with the small package driver on Hopkins, putting the Dark Order at approximately 846-0 in these multi-man jobber matches on Dark this year.

Team Taz (Ricky Starks, Brian Cage and Powerhouse Hobbs) (w/ Hook) defeated Brick Aldridge, Justin Law and Hayden Backlund

This week, Cage started out for Team Taz and dominated both Law and Aldridge. Cage made the tag to Hobbs without incident who destroyed Aldridge with a spinebuster. Starks intercepted a tag meant for Cage and wound up in trouble for a minute against Backlund. It seems like they might be shifting the story from a disagreement among the members of Team Taz generally to a more specific problem between Cage and Starks. Starks caught Backlund coming off the top rope and turned it into the Roshambeaux. He then tagged in Cage who finished Backlund off with the Drill Claw.

Team Taz is approximately 98-0 in these multi-man jobber matches on Dark this year.

Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy) (w/ Marko Stunt) defeated Rex Lawless & Dean Alexander (1:41)

Jurassic Express has a big match with Bear Country tomorrow night on Dynamite, which is why they are being featured here. Lawless matched up well with Luchasaurus in what JR might call a slobberknocker. But, the match didn’t very long. Luchasaurus hit a kick on Lawless and Jungle Boy flew in with an elbow to the back of the head to get the win.

Ryan Nemeth (w/ JD Drake) defeated Fuego del Sol (6:06)

Earlier in the show, Nemeth and Cezar Bononi had a disagreement about Nemeth recruiting Drake as his second “wingman.” Drake arrived and hilarity ensued.

Griff Garrison and Marko Stunt came out with del Sol briefly as part of the Vlog Crew. Is that another stable forming? Jurassic Blondes? Excalibur took a moment to give a shoutout to the AEW Spanish announce team which calls Dark, Dark: Elevation and Dynamite every single week. That’s a 40-hour work week!

Anyway, del Sol came off the ropes with a springboard but Nemeth caught him with a dropkick, finishing del Sol with a hangman’s neckbreaker.

The Butcher (w/ Private Party, Blade and Bunny) defeated John Cruz (0:40)

There is absolutely no need for the Butcher to be wrestling again after wrestling on Elevation last night. He hit the filet mignon (a back suplex into an uranage) for the win. What’s the point of a 40-second match?

Sea Stars (Ashley Vox and Delmi Exo) defeated Vertvixen and Jazmine Allure (4:31)

The Stars teamed with Vertvixen on last week’s Dark in a losing effort. Vox and Exo are sisters even though they have different surnames. I guess that happens. Vertvixen got a michinoku driver on Exo for a near fall. But, it was the Stars who avenged last week’s loss over their old partner after Exo hit her with an exploder and Vox came off the top with an assisted senton for the win. This was an Impressive AEW tag team debut for the two.

Max Caster raps

Ahead of their match Wednesday, Caster destroyed Hangman Page with a rap that is absolutely the must-see segment of this show, the night, and maybe for all of WrestleMania week. While poking fun at Page with lines like “You don’t have no real friends, always up in your feelings,” he destroyed a toy horse from a child’s carousel with a steel chair. This kid is the money.

Red Velvet and KiLynn King (w/ Big Swole) defeated Madi Wrenkowski and Vipress (5:30)

King and Velvet looked great as a team. King hit the Kingdom Falls on Vipress and Velvet followed up with the Chef’s Kiss to get the win. Size-wise, King would be an impressive matchup for Jade Cargill down the road. I suspect that is why she is getting some wins to build her up as a threat.

JD Drake (w/ Ryan Nemeth) defeated Baron Black (5:16)

Speaking of getting some wins to help build him up as a threat, Drake got a win here in advance of his TNT title match with Darby Allin Wednesday.

A Vader bomb should have finished Black but it only got two. It occured to me that the only difference between “Baby Bull” Leon White and Vader was a cool smoke spewing mask and Drake looks like the “Baby Bull.” Maybe someone should look into a cool mask for Drake.

Black came back to make this a competitive match, busting open Drake’s chest with hard chops — a curious way to build up a guy with one win for a TNT title match. Drake won with a flying boot, like a Claymore kick. But since Drake isn’t from Scotland and is from North Carolina, call it the Tar Heel since the heel is part of the foot! Tar Heel for the victory.

Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss defeated KC Navarao & Aaron Frye (2:52)

Janela and Kiss came off the middle and top rope with a series of splashes on Frye. Navarro ran in and got destroyed with a death valley driver from Janela. Like, right on his head. Kiss hit the split stunner on Frye and Janela came off the top with the elbow for the win. Janela calls that elbow “Greetings from Asbury Park” as an homage to fellow New Jersey native Bam Bam Bigelow.

Matt Sydal (w/ Mike Sydal) defeated Mike Magnum (0:43)

Sydal hit the lightning spiral for the win. Excalibur gushed about the speed of the win, but it wasn’t even the shortest match on this show and Britt Baker’s win Monday night was also much shorter (and more impressive because it’s Britt).

Matt Hardy (w/ Hardy Family Office) defeated Vary Morales (2:06)

Both these guys wrestled on Elevation last night and there’s really no reason for guys to be working both shows on back-to-back nights. Allin was shown watching the match from the rafters. The Leech (a double underhook choke with a body scissors) that Hardy debuted last night on Elevation got him the win here as well. Doing jobs to Hardy tonight and Nakazawa last night makes for a rough week for Morales.

After the match, Hardy cut a promo on Allin (still in the rafters). Hardy called Allin a sellout and promised to take the TNT title.

Bear Country defeated The Hybrid2 (7:24)

Bear Country has a big match tomorrow night against Jurassic Express which has a tie-in to the Godzilla vs. Kong movie on HBO Max this month.

Bear Boulder threw Jack Evans all the way to the floor off a collar-and-elbow tie-up. Evans came back with a dropkick, but charged into a boot and got destroyed by Bear Country. Evans used an eye rake to escape a powerslam attempt and got the tag to Angelico, who got powerslammed instead. Bear Bronson got the tag and Evans hit him with a kick off the top rope. Bronson came back with a suplex.

Evans got a blind tag to Angelico and the two tied up Bronson in the ropes and attacked the big man’s leg. That didn’t last long and Boulder got the tag and tossed The Hybrid2 around like sacks of flour. Boulder caught both men in a samoan drop/fall away slam combination. Bear Country then combined for the Bear Bomb for the win.

Final Thoughts:

Bear Country was impressive in the ring and Max Caster was most impressive out of it.
