AEW Dark results: Adam Cole vs. Anthony Greene, Infinito debuts

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means. Taz and Excalibur are on AEW Dark commentary for matches taped last month at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida

Shawn Spears and Wardlow defeated Bear Country (8:07)

Bear Country dominated early punctuated by Bear Bronson hitting a tope suicida on both members of the Pinnacle. Back in the ring, Wardlow got the advantage with a double leg takedown and backed Bronson into the corner for some shoulders and forearms. Spears called on Warldow to power bomb Bronson, but Bronson backdropped Wardlow.

Tags were made on both sides and Bear Boulder dominated Spears. Boulder got a near fall with a powerslam, but missed a springboard moonsault out of the corner, leading to Wardlow hitting a clothesline for a near fall. Bear Country went for the Bear Country Jamboree (aka the Bear Splash, but my name is cooler) on Spears, but he moved out of the way. Wardlow came in with the knee, effectively hitting the Casualty of War on Bronson to get the win.

KiLynn King defeated Rene Michelle (2:52)

King won a competitive short match with Kingdom Falls.

Santana & Ortiz defeated Gus De La Vega and Brandon Gore (3:05)

Santana hit the Three Amigos on Gore, later hitting a flip stunner on De La Vega. Santana and Ortiz got the pinfall after a double team flapjack.

Skye Blue defeated La Rosa Negra (2:13)

Blue hit a belly-to-belly suplex followed by a spinning flatliner for the pinfall.

Alan “5” Angels (w/ -1) defeated Mike Reed (2:26)

Angels has a match with Bryan Danielson on Dynamite, so this was a nice little showcase for him before he gets killed. He won with the Wing Snapper and celebrated with -1 on his shoulders after the match.

Ryo Mizunami defeated Dani Jordyn (2:51)

Jordyn had a “burn book” with her, a reference from the movie Mean Girls that I’m embarrassed to know. Jordyn used it as a way to lure Mizunami in, hitting her with the book to gain a temporary advantage. Mizunami came back with chops and then brutalized Jordyn with chops and then some more chops. Mizunami got the pinfall after a sit-out powerslam.

The Butcher (w/ Matt Hardy, The Bunny and Jorah Johl) defeated Michael Martinez (1:12)

Butcher attacked Martinez before the bell and got the pin after a back suplex.

Julia Hart defeated Nikita Knight (3:19)

Knight hit a Michinoku Driver on Hart for a near fall that looked like it nearly killed her. Hart came back from what used to be a murder/death/kill move by missing some dropkicks. Really? Hart hit a split leg drop, a cartwheel clothesline in the corner, and then a bulldog with a split for the pinfall.

Infinito defeated Ray Jaz (3:44)

Who is the mysterious Infinito? I have heard rumors it’s Bryan Danielson, but this guy is covered head to toe in black. Also, it couldn’t have been Danielson because no beard. Duh. He is “from the infinite universe, from the beginning and end of time” which I think is north of Parts Unknown.

He worked on Jaz’s arm early on, tossing Jaz around the ring with monkey flips, but then, he hit his head delivering a crossbody on the floor.

Back in the ring, Infinito won with an airplane spin with approximately 600 rotations, rolling up Jaz after for the easy pinfall.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Sahara Seven (1:29)

After a german suplex and a running knee strike, Hirsch got the quick tapout with the juji gatame.

Varsity Blonds (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Aaron Solo and Nick Comoroto (7:29)

Solo was dominated by the Blonds early and then got slapped on the floor by Julia Hart when he tried taunting her. Brian Pillman Jr. dropkicked Solo through the ropes, but Comoroto hit him to take the advantage. Comoroto got a near fall with a side back breaker. Griff Garrison got the tag and nearly got the pin on Solo with a face-first suplex. Comoroto caught Garrison with a spear for a near fall. Pillman got the blind tag and hit a pair of superkicks on Comoroto, followed by a sunset flip attempt. Comoroto tried to block it, but Garrison came in with a rolling elbow and Pillman got the pinfall.

After the match, Tony Schiavone interviewed the Blonds but they didn’t say much of note.

Tony Nese defeated D’Marceo James (2:42)

Nese german suplexed James in the corner and followed up with a running knee strike to get the pinfall. He faces Sammy Guevara for the TNT title on Friday’s Rampage.

Matt Hardy and Jora Johl defeated Baron Black and Prince Agballah (4:35)

Johl wrestled the bulk of the match for his team and looked pretty good in doing so. Agballah got a tag and hit a nice spinning lariat. Johl went for some kind of toss out of a fireman’s carry and it looked really ugly for Agballah. Hardy came in and hit the twist of fate for the pinfall.

Ethan Page defeated Fuego del Sol (8:38)

Fuego got some promo time earlier in the show and quoted Talladega Nights.

Page hit Del Sol from behind with a clothesline. The fight went to the floor and Del Sol caught Page with a moonsault off the top rope to the floor. He went for the tornado DDT, but Page tossed him aside. Page dropped Del Sol with a backbreaker.

Page went for the Ego’s Edge, but Del Sol countered with a rana, followed by a dropkick to the back of Page’s head for a near fall. Page hit a powerslam for a near fall. Del Sol slid out of a second attempt at the Ego’s Edge, and got another near fall after a double foot stomp. Del Sol went for a rana off the top, but Page countered with a bodyslam off the top rope, hit a shoulder tackle, and finally got the Ego’s Edge for the pinfall. This went way, way too long for what they were going for.

Adam Cole defeated Anthony Greene (9:31)

Greene started to rally after being dominated early, but Cole cut that off with a fireman’s carry into a neckbreaker. Cole hit a superkick, but missed the Panama Sunrise. Greene came back with his own superkick and a Michinoku driver for two. Greene went for the crucifix driver, but Cole hit an enziguri and a backstabber for two. Greene hit the crucifix bomb for two and transitioned into a single leg crab. Greene came off the top with an ugly crossbody, but got caught with a superkick. Cole lowered The Boom on Greene to get the win.

Final Thoughts:

You could really tell they were burning off the last taping cycle with this week’s show. This featured a lot of squashes and even the “competitive” matches felt long just for the sake of being long. A fresh set of tapings is happening this Friday and if it doesn’t include something with Fuego Dos vs. Infinito, what are we even doing here?
