AEW Dark Elevation results: Shawn Spears vs. Lee Moriarty

It’s Monday and you know what that means: the final AEW Dark: Elevation show of the year taped last Wednesday in Greensboro, NC, prior to Dynamite.
Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver & 10) defeated Fodder, JR Miller & Brandon Scott
This marked the AEW debut for Scott, Miller and Fodder. Silver showcased his strength advantage early on and showed his “guns” to the fans. Miller, Fodder and Scott tried to isolate Silver, but they were unsuccessful and Silver was able to tag Ten who then cleaned house. Silver, with a PDK assisted on Fodder by Reynolds and Ten, won this trios match.
Thunder Rosa defeated Dani Mo
Jade Cargill was out scouting ahead of her semifinal match against Rosa in the remaining TBS title tournament on Wednesday’s Dynamite. Rosa dominated in a squash, focusing her attention on Cargill every time she could. Rosa won after hitting the Fire Thunder Driver, extending her winning streak and her overall record to 44-6.
Anthony Ogogo (w/ The Factory) defeated Duncan Mitchell
This was a squash. Ogogo, as expected, dominated, winning with the Tower of London, a turnbuckle-assisted cutter.
Santana & Ortiz defeated Movie Myk & Alexander Moss
This was the AEW debut for Myk and Moss. The two blindsided Santana and Ortiz, but that was a mistake on their part as Santana and Ortiz slowly gained control. Ortiz hit a power bomb and Santana landed a kick to Myk’s face to pick up the win and up their record to 17-3.
Shawn Spears defeated Lee Moriarty
Spears tried to get under Moriarty’s skin by copying his entrance moves and not taking him seriously. Moriarty returned the favor by escaping a headlock by using a World of Sport move and mocking Spears’ 10 taunt.
During the match, Spears scared a little girl in a very funny spot that Eddie Kingston enjoyed a lot on commentary. This was very competitive and Moriarty did a great job selling his neck throughout the match. Moriarty tried to springboard from the third rope, but Spears caught him with the C4 to improve his record to 18-4.
Gunn Club defeated Dark Order (Alan Angels, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson)
From the start, Greensboro chanted “The Ass Boys” at Gunn Club. They tried to isolate Evil Uno until he hit a flatliner DDT. He was able to tag Stu who cleaned house. Colten cheated to pick up the pin on Angels, helping Gunn Club remain undefeated at 22-0 in trios competition.
Anna Jay & Tay Conti defeated Diamante & Emi Sakura
Jay and Conti got one of the biggest pops of the night when they came out for their entrance.
Jay and Conti have more experience as a team than Diamante and Sakura which played a huge factor as the match went further. Sakura had a double bow and arrow on Conti and Jay in the spot of the match. Jay won with Queen Slayer submission on Diamante.
Matt Hardy defeated Darius Lockhart
Hardy got a great home reception from the crowd. From the start, Lockhart showcased his technical wrestling ability and worked as a heel by mocking Hardy’s hand sign and giving the crowd the business. Hardy picked up the win after the Twist of Fate, improving his overall record to 32-14.
Final Thoughts:
This was an easy episode of Elevation to watch. The commentary trio of Kingston, Mark Henry and Tony Schiavone is always enjoyable to listen to. My match of the night was Moriarty vs. Spears.
