AEW Dark Elevation results: Ruby Soho vs. Emi Sakura

It’s Monday and you know what that means: a seven-match AEW Dark: Elevation that was taped last Wednesday at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Liacouras Center.
Penelope Ford (w/ The Bunny) defeated Notorious Mimi
This match was Mimi’s AEW debut. Ford (15-4) dominated, winning the by submission with the Muta Lock.
Ortiz & Santana defeated Adrien Soriano & Gabriel Hodder
This marked the debut for both Soriano and Hodder. This was a short one that Ortiz & Santana (11-3) won with a face crusher.
FTR (w/ Wardlow) defeated Lee Moriarty & LSG
FTR debuted a new entrance theme inspired by the Midnight Express’ theme from back in the day. This was also Moriarty’s first match in the promotion under an AEW contract and was a great showcase for him.
During the match, FTR used their tag team acumen to help keep them on top. An example: LSG had Cash Wheeler in a small package, but Paul Turner was distracted by Dax Harwood so he couldn’t get the win. FTR (23-3) after hitting a brainbuster.
Tay Conti (w/ Anna Jay) defeated Dani Mo
This match was Mo’s AEW debut and she got destroyed by Conti’s offensive moves. Conti (34-5) won this match with the DDTay.
Joey Janela (w/ Kayla Rossi) defeated Crowbar (w/ The Blue Meanie)
This match was the AEW debut of former WCW and ECW wrestler Crowbar. At the beginning, Janela cut a really good promo calling the fans idiots and called Ben Simmons the smartest man in Philadelphia for wanting to leave the Sixers.
Janela tried to leave, but The Blue Meanie showed up and forced Janela to return which got a huge “ECW” chant. Rossi interfered on behalf of Janela and even landed a hurricanrana on Crowbar. Janela won after hitting the death valley driver. After the match, Sonny Kiss ran out to attack his old partner but Rossi intervened and even hit a phoenix splash on Kiss.
Later on the show, Meanie and Crowbar had a heartfelt backstage segment talking about their return to a major promotion and putting over AEW.
Ruby Soho defeated Emi Sakura (w/ Lulu Pencil)
Emi worked as even more of a heel than in previous matches. Pencil followed suit and tried to interfere throughout the match, but was ineffective. This was a good match that Soho won after hitting her mule kick as a counter to Sakura trying to lock her up for a move. This was Sakura’s first loss in AEW singles competition since she moved to the U.S. while Soho increased her career record to 3-1.
Private Party & The Butcher and The Blade (w/ Matt Hardy & The Bunny) defeated Chuck Taylor, Wheeler Yuta, Brock Anderson & Lee Johnson (w/ Kris Statlander)
This was one of the best matches this week featuring a lot of action that gave everyone the chance to shine, especially Private Party, Yuta and Johnson. One of AEW’s biggest strengths are multi-man matches and this was no exception to that.
The end came when Johnson was in there alone with Private Party. Johnson got Marq Quen out of there and had Isiah Kassidy in a fireman’s carry. Kassidy managed to escape and the Butcher leveled him with a lariat for the pin and win.
Final Thoughts:
This was a good episode of Elevation. I highly recommend checking out Crowbar and Blue Meanie’s backstage promo. In terms of in-ring action, the main event, LSG & Moriarty vs. FTR and Sakura vs. Soho stood out.
