AEW Dark Elevation results: Riho vs. Trish Adora

It’s Monday and you know what that means: an eight-match AEW Dark: Elevation taped last Wednesday at Norfolk, Virginia’s Chartway Arena.

TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Conti) defeated Erica Leigh and Willow Nightingale

Jay started the match with several quick kicks on Leigh followed by Conti hitting a great combination of a superkick and german suplex on Nightingale. Conti won this short match after hitting the DDTay on Nightingale while Jay had Leigh in the Queen Slayer submission.

Tony Nese defeated Logan LaRoux

This match was the AEW debut for LaRoux and the debut for Nese on Elevation. Nese, working as a heel, had a great combo of a kip-up and several kicks on LaRoux. LaRoux’s highlight in the match was a top rope dropkick. Nese (2-0) won after hitting a running knee.

Team Taz (w/ Hook) defeated Lucas Chase and Irvin Legend

Powerhouse Hobbs threw around Lucas who could do nothing about it. Chase tried to kick Ricky Starks, but ended up eating a reverse neckbreaker. Team Taz won after a Starks Roshambo in an easy win for Team Taz.

Kris Statlander, Leyla Hirsch and Ryo Mizunami defeated Emi Sakura, Penelope Ford and The Bunny (w/ Mei Suruga)

Ruby Soho joined Excalibur and Paul Wight on commentary to scout her TBS title tournament quarterfinal opponent in Statlander.

Mizunami started with her always fun machine gun chops on Ford. The team of Sakura/Bunny/Ford seem to have some internal tension throughout the match. Suruga intervened on their behalf in several key moments of the match. The heels isolated Hirsch for a good portion of the match with Sakura applying the Romero Special on Hirsch in a highlight. Mizunami came back with a great spot of her own with a double spear on Bunny and Ford. Statlander picked up the win for her team with the Big Bang Theory on Bunny.

Frankie Kazarian defeated Joe Keys

Kazarian dominated the early going, but Keys was slowly able to make a comeback. Keys tried to go for a roll-up, but Kazarian (32-7 overall) countered with the chicken wing crossface for the submission win.

Dark Order (John Silver, Alex Reynolds & Ten) defeated Baron Black, Ganon Jones and Duke Davis

Silver got one of the biggest pops of the night when he was tagged in. Davis and Silver had a great showdown with Silver failing to tackle him. 10 took care of business with a hot tag and cleaned out the ring. Dark Order, with a combination of suplexes and a full nelson from Ten, were able to win the match.

Riho defeated Trish Adora

This was the AEW debut for Adora who was seen in Ring of Honor lately. Riho tried to roll her up, but Adora countered with a suplex and Riho countered with a crossbody with a great sell from Adora. Riho (10-2) won after a top rope stomp.

Wheeler Yuta (w/ Kris Statlander & Chuck Taylor) defeated Serpentico

The match started with some quick action from both men. Serpentico worked Yuta’s midsection for a good portions of the match, later trying to get support from Statlander and Taylor which marked the beginning of the end. Serpentico tried to go for a flying headbutt, but Yuta (5-11) moved out of the way and won with a roll-up. and use a roll-up to win the match.

Final Thoughts:

This was a fine episode of Elevation with the six-woman tag team match as the best of the night. Riho vs. Adora was too short, but it showed potential to be a great match if done longer. Hopefully, this won’t be Adora’s last AEW outing.
