AEW Dark Elevation results: Matt Sydal vs. QT Marshall, Andrade vs. Frankie Kazarian

It’s Monday and you know what that means: a fine eight-match AEW Dark: Elevation taped last Wednesday at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.

Excalibur, Mark Henry and Anthony Ogogo were on the call tonight.

ROH Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez & Serena Deeb defeated Heather Reckless & Tootie Lynn

The story of this match was more about the tension between Deeb and Martinez, but that they were still able to get the job done. Deeb used the Serenity Lock on Reckless to get the submission in a quick squash match. This was their second Dark: Elevation win as a team and the second over a team with Lynn on the other side.

Andrade El Idolo (w/ Jose the Assistant) defeated Frankie Kazarian

This was all about two experienced wrestlers playing their game and it was fun. In terms of peed, both were pretty well-matched, but Andrade had the advantage in terms of size and strength.

Jose interfered to help Andrade when needed. Andrade destroyed Kazarian’s chest with several heavy chops, but Kazarian rallied late, getting two near falls with a cradle and then a crucifix pin. Kazarian used a Japanese Ocean Cyclone for a near win, but the hammerlock DDT from Andrade (14-8) was enough. This was my match of the night.

Marina Shafir & Nyla Rose defeated Heidi Howitzer & Max The Impaler

Max and Rose (opponents last week) were pretty much even in terms of strength, but Rose’s experience was enough to help her overwhelm Max. Rose had the most impressive spot of the match, hitting a Diamond Dust. Shafir picked up the win for her team, submitting Howitzer with Greedy. as Rose speared Max out of the ring.

Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland) defeated Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett

Swerve in Our Glory is still not fully on the same page due to the events of the Casino Battle Royale. Lee used a spirit bomb on Vega to get the win, ignoring Strickland on a tag for their combined finisher. Could this be the beginning of the end for their team?

Anna Jay defeated Rebel

This was Rockin’ Rebel’s AEW debut. Jay (40-12) used the Queenslayer to get a quick submission.

Tony Nese (w/ Mark Sterling) defeated Warhorse

Warhorse got big reaction from the crowd, but that wasn’t enough as Nese (17-2) used a spinning kick and a knee strike to get the win.

Ruby Soho defeated Miranda Gordy

Before the bell rang, Gordy blindsided Soho, but Soho’s experience enabled her to turn things around quickly. Soho used Destination Unknown to get the win.

Matt Sydal defeated QT Marshall (w/ The Factory)

This was a homecoming match for Sydal who was really motivated as the crowd was always on his side. The Factory boys helped Marshall every time the referee was distracted, but once they were caught, they were ejected. Sydal (39-32) used a hurracarrana and a small package to surprise Marshall for the win. This was an interesting match to watch.
