AEW Dark Elevation results: Lucha Bros vs. The Sydal Brothers

It’s Monday and you know what that means: a seven-match AEW Dark: Elevation featuring the usual debuts and returns. These matches were taped last Wednesday at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.
Paul Wight was not on commentary this week and Eddie Kingston took his place. He and Tony Schiavone worked well together.
Red Velvet defeated Renee Michelle
This match served to build up Velvet’s record ahead of her Women’s title match against Britt Baker on Friday’s Rampage debut. Michelle blindsided Velvet and attacked her immediately but Velvet was able to turn things around, ending a short match with the Final Slice.
Shawn Dean defeated Peter Avalon (w/ The Wingmen)
“Pretty” Peter once again came out to the best entrance music in AEW. This was another short match that Dean (2-3) won with the Salute.
Hikaru Shida defeated Tesha Price
This is the second time these two have faced each other with the first time in a tag team match with Shida tagging with Tay Conti and Price with Jazmin Allure. Shida got one of the biggest pops of the night. This was an easy win for Shida (37-4) as she picked up the victory with the Falcon Arrow.
Brian Cage defeated RSP
RSP (Rickey Shane Page) surprised everyone with the agility he has despite his size. This was another short match that Cage (13-3) won with the F5.
Jade Cargill (w/ Mark Sterling) defeated Amber Nova
This was a perfect squash. The undefeated Cargill won after hitting Jaded and is going to be a star for AEW if the promotion plays their cards right.
Jurassic Express (w/ Marko Stunt) defeated Carlie Bravo & Cyrus
Jurassic Express got a massive pop coming out — probably the biggest of the show. They won in quick fashion with Jungle Boy using the Snare Trap to tapping out Bravo.
Lucha Bros (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Sydal Brothers
Just like Shida and Jurassic Express, Lucha Bros got a great ovation during their entrance.
This featured a ton of cool moves by both teams of brothers. Rey Fenix did one of the most beautiful top rope armdrags you’re gonna see this week, Matt Sydal countered an airplane spin into a DDY on Fenix, and both Sydals hit double meteoras. Penta and Fenix (16-8) won with a variant of the Magic Killer and Fear Factor.
It’s clear they are building the Lucha Bros as the next contenders for the Tag Team titles.
Final Thoughts:
Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss were scheduled to have a tag team match, but Janela turned on Kiss and got a lot of heat. This was really well done and was one of the highlights of the show. Hopefully, we’ll see a match between the two of them soon.
Most matches were short and served to build up the records of the stars, but the main event between Lucha Bros and the Sydals was the best match of the night and worth checking out.
